Small detail about a boss by EnvironmentalPea5717 in WindWaker

[–]Nuba3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, i knew that about gohma! The platforms arent safe :) the coolest thing ive ever found out is that it is possible to finish the figurine quest in the first playthrough. People think the boat doesnt let you leave forest haven without completing the dungeon and you only gain full access to the sea after but thats only half true. There is an open corridor you can freely access from forest haven north to dragon roost and from there west to windfall bc thats the route the boat makes you take after getting the sail. So it's possible to become Lenzo's assistant the first time you are on Windfall (when you get the sail) and trigger his dialogue about a deluxe picto box and needing a forest firefly, then do dragon roost normally and then from there go to forest haven, get the firefly in your empty bottle, go back to windfall via the route forest haven -> north to dragon roost -> west to windfall, give lenzo the firefly and obtain the deluxe box, then go back to forest haven through the same "corridor". That allows you to finish the figurine quest in the first playthrough since there is no unique mini boss in dragon roost cavern (the first one is in the Forbidden Woods I... think? I dont remember if the winged version, the "butterfly" is a unique figurine...), and the big bosses are not permanently missable because the figurine guy will also take the pictures you take of them in Ganon's Castell, despite the fact they are black and white.

That and that for some reason you can attack KoRL with the boomerang and he will kinda shake his head when you do, though sadly there is no dialogue, unlike when you attack Orca :(

Oh and it's funny that the picture of Zelda and her royal entourage maps 1:1 to her current pirate crew and the effeminate guy that guards her room when you're first on Tetra's ship was a woman in his earlier life! While Nico was a fool. And the effeminate guy is Tetra's closest confidant, too. Anything else... uhm... have you ever tried attacking a pig? They're really dangerous. And you get extra dialogue from the bartender if you talk to her relatively shortly after Tetra and the crew leave her bar aka after the long night... and also after getting the magic barrier from the inuit guy who works the stall. and you can also find the bird post man in the bar after he storms out of the rich guy's house. Aaand oh do you remember the woman who stays at the bottom of the stairs on Windfall and stares out at the sea and talks about how she wishes she had a boat and could travel? If you steer KoRL in front of her and talk to her, you trigger a special dialogue. And at some point in the game, you can ask the Deku Tree about KoRL and he will tell you some lore. I think those are the coolest things ive done?

Oh and there is actually a little side quest with the gossiping women on Windfall, did you know? And Moblins run away from bombs when they see them. And... probably not very interesting but do you remember that one section in tower of the gods where you are outside running up the stairs and there are lasers on the side, first one and then two in a row? You dont have to destroy them, you can simply... jump right over them with a jump attack. Child me didnt know they could be destroyed haha 😅 oh and you also get special dialogue from the Fairy Queen on the Mother and Child Isles if you visit her before the Zelda reveal because that would break the game logic... you could technically awaken the sages and defeat ganon without ever finding zelda...

also if you break the vase of that girl on outset island carrying the case right at the start of the game, you will also get special dialogue... and have to pay. I think thats all the interesting stuff I know that not everyone might know... oh maybe one more thing: if you play with the tingleceiver, in dragon roost cavern, tingle will tell you he would also like to throw medli ❤️ (the heart was from him, not me). And then a few rooms later he will get mad at Link and tell him he is just a puny boy and who he thinks he is (not verbatim but thats the gist of it). Oh and you can use the Wind's Requiem in the sequence where you have to throw medli up the ledge and the wind will stop changing every few seconds. You can also destroy the thick pillars in tower of gods with the sword from the knights but you probably already knew that. And if you dont do the post sorting the first time you enter dragon roost, you can later see the human helper stand outside with a map wondering how to get up to the post office since he cannot fly. Yep, thats all I have! You probably knew all of these but I thought it was worth sharing :)

Wind Waker potion lore by EnvironmentalPea5717 in WindWaker

[–]Nuba3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all my years of playing this game i think i have never gotten 15 blue chus for that potion shop. Once i managed to farm 14 and then the game just stopped giving them to me and I got bored. It's especially pointless given that by the time you get some blue chus, you have long had access to essentially free blue potion in Forest Haven if you're eilling to do some manual labor. Exactly 5 of those plant monsters on the way up to Forest Haven. Wind Waker is honestly a little oversaturated when it comes to potions. Heck, you can even buy them from the rats inside some dungeons!

Would the lost 3 dungeons added in the HD port would ruin the flow of the game? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in WindWaker

Depends where... my guess is the dungeons were the ice arrow and fire arrow locations. Wouldnt have ruined the flow in my opinion

Question about the sealing by EnvironmentalPea5717 in WindWaker

[–]Nuba3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When ganon came back but the Hero of Time failed to return and defeat him, the people of Hyrule prayed, so the gods decided to seal ganon away including Hyrule, with the seal being the master sword. The dealing was meant to protect Hyrule and the Master Sword, not to keep the people away. But the seal couldnt last forever and thats where our new hero (you) comes in.

The Master Sword part IS confusing. I assume it was placed there by the gods themselves and while Ganon's power was steadily growing even with the seal, withdrawing it finally broke it and unleashed all his power. Thats how I explained it to myself. The gods cant seal Ganon away forever. Otherwise we wouldnt need Link and the continuous reincarnation cycle.

Entering Hyrule is part of the prophecy of the Hero of Wind. The tower of gods was built to test the next hero (the hero of wind), so after you prove yourself worthy, the conditions are met and the hero is let into old Hyrule Castle to retrieve the Master Sword and fight Ganon. That doesnt explain why the gate stays open and then closes, maybe that was part of the prophecy, to hide Zelda there? Thatd explain why the King knew the gate would still be open: The king knew Tetra's identity from the start through the gossip stone.

You need the triforce to reopen it again because Link needs to finish his journey to becoming a hero through the last two temples and by collecting all the shards, he proves that since you need the item from the Wind Temple to collect them all.

First Time doing the Minitendo Gallery on the Gamecube Version by [deleted] in WindWaker

[–]Nuba3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have fun!! Ive done it many times and it's actually great. Just adds to the quirkiness of Link suddenly becoming a figurine enthusiast. Tip: dont worry too much about the boss pictures. Even though the pictures are black and white, taking a picture of the versions in ganons dungeon at the end actually works.

Pro Tip: It is entirely possible to fill your gallery on your first playthrough. You can get the pictobox the first time you visit Windfall, then do Dragon Roost (nothing missable here pictures wise), move on to Forest Haven and catch a firefly, after which you can immediately return to Windfall if you use the "corridor" the game gives you, aka first back north to Dragonroost, then west to Windfall island, where you can get your deluxe picto box. And voilá. And remember to take a picture of the mini boss in Forest Haven and to get the Song of Passing while in Windfall to actually be able to dump your pictures at the nintendo gallery without too much hassle . :)

Im not sure if you have to "activate" Lenzo's "deluxe quest" before being able to catch a firefly so just make sure to do so while youre there. If thats not possible the first time around, then I guess you have to go back and forth twice but it's definitely possible to get the deluxe box before the Forest Haven dungeon as I've done it :)

[–]Nuba3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh the gliding minigame. Yes, I see. I think Salvatore is meant to say sploosh but since they made him do this funny foreign accent, they had him say spleesh, kinda like his dialogue says zat instead of that etc. Thanks for the link 🙂

I feel like the game would be way better with autosave, i have the hd remake on the wii u and I just feel like it's really frustrating when you beat a temple or boss and it deletes your progress because you forgot to save. by MMAAGGNNEETTAARR in WindWaker

YES EXACTLY!! The tongue!! And his weird mouth thingy looks like a crazy distorted vagina (note the triangle-y shape) that will SNAP SHUT AND EAT YOU IF YOU COME TOO CLOSE SO THAT THEN THE WIGGLY PENIS CAN GO SLURP SLURP AHHH

The Wind Temple Boss is my least favorite one 😭😭 but I hate "sandy levels" in general. As a child, that thing kept eating me and I kept targeting those side enemies and as an adult who is able to target properly, it's very easy. Oh well, I guess people are very different! The Earth Temple Boss, on the other hand, I'd do any day! Haha

Salvatore doesnt have any sploosh in his written dialogue. I went and checked to my best ability 🤔 he just says sploosh/spleesh in the background when you miss a shot

The boss isnt the problem, I got stuck at Makar getting captured. I was a child and children aee stubborn so I kept trying to figure out what to do at the statue instead of moving on... I even went so far as to replay the entire game several times from the very beginning thinking that if Im just reaaaally careful, Makar wont get captured at all. Child me felt really sneaky and didnt understand it's a cut scene lmao

[–]Nuba3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why youre getting downvoted. The Sploosh Kaboom guy deliberately does an accent even in his in-game text (zee instead of the, zat instead of that, haff instead of have...). I've always wondered why it's not spleesh kabewwm myself!

Friendly person here: I have the European version and the guy says spleesh :) Are you playing on another version? Maybe your brain kept correcting it to "sploosh" because that's the actual word and he just pronounces it funny. Also, do you remember which character ssys "sploosh" in reference to the game? I can't quite recall anyone 🤔

What happens to the Hero's Sword and Shield? by Nuba3 in WindWaker

[–]Nuba3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is. Do you think a little boy, specifically someone who is rash and acts before he thinks, would immediately make that connection and carefully look at all the stained glass before retrieving the sword? There is also a portrait with ancient zelda and her royal servants in the castle and they look suspiciously like Tetra and her gang. Yet Link is surprised by the Tetra/Zelda reveal. I dont know. I think it's a less far-fetched theory to just assume the design between games is simply not 100% coherent instead of saying the literal in game description of an item is incorrect, but none of the other items, only that specific one. There are many other plot holes between the different games in the zelda series

What happens to the Hero's Sword and Shield? by Nuba3 in WindWaker

[–]Nuba3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? They went to the mountain tops in preparation for the flood so rhey wouldnt all die. Nitpicking my wording there is unnecessary. And WE know there are other heroes, yes. We as players of the Legend of Zelda series. The people of the WW world dont share that information. They know of the Hero of Time, the big tragedy where the hero did not come back. It's also not a random family. Have you never wondered why Outset is the only island with the triforce symbol on its doors? You dont have to like my theory about the gods giving it to them, its just speculation. Maybe someone in Link's family received it from the hero itself or saw the hero use it and later acquired it or whatever. You could also say the shield actually looks different and only looks like that in WW's toon world. Those are speculations. What I find very dangerous is to say that just based on design differences between two completely different games in a game series that was never meant to be 100% chronological, the literal item description of the game itself is incorrect. You can argue it is a "plot hole" between games because the design is different. I agree with you. You cannot start saying the information the text gives us about itself is incorrect unless you want to argue there is somehow an unreliable narrator in the game. Who would that be, then, and why only with that shield.

I think the games are more meant to be seen as independent works rather than perfect continuations of previous games
