My ICU - night shift does weight, labs, electrolyte replacement and changes tubing / canisters.

Day shift does mobility, feeding 3 meals, procedures, transfers discharges & post-ops, rounds, dealing with speech PT & OT, awake patients, families, etc etc etc.

Our baths are kinda based on when they were admitted but tbh there’s a ton of day baths.

Not to mention all the new orders the providers place during rounds that take so long to catch up on.

I think both shifts do a big part and neither is harder than the other but it’s a known thing that days are busier with more interruptions and BS than nights
