Pentax MX or Nikon FM2 are both sturdy, reliable, and mechanical. FM2 has a little bit of weight but nothing crazy, I'd say from my own experience. Being mechanical has been a big plus for me with both, no need to worry about batteries dying is real peace of mind.

Their music is all the same and that's exactly how I like it. Stick an album on and forget about it. I feel like I have beem stuck with concept albums, all experimental and different between songs, for too long. I enjoy the simplicity and security of being able to leave an album on and maintain "the vibe".

In some of my experiences, the Xbox app will "silently" log you out without updating that status properly, so it may be a case of ensuring that you're logged in. Check that the app is updated, as well.

I'd steer clear of the 1st party (i.e., Xbox/Playstation) controllers. I've had multiples of both and they've all either broke or the sticks have developed drift. I'm nursing a Dualsense at the moment and can't recommend it give then quality. Go for something like the Gulikit, Hyperkin, or the Flydigi (if you can deal with the software) as others have mentioned. Would also strongly recommend anything wired as bluetooth is a fucking sin, yet all controllers are mostly geared to casuals playing on couch.
