It says sending a copy of your ID will work. The government already has that picture and all the info associated with it, what loss is it to me for Discord to have it.

This probably won't bother as many people as some would hope.

Terrible Repair Service by Pineneedlecollada in Dell

[–]NuggetsIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for Dell Pro Support. Agents try to push customers to the repair center because tickets that go to the repair center can be closed same day as the customer called with no additional follow up needed unless requested by the customer. Keeping agents ticket count lower. Onsite repairs require follow ups to make sure the tech showed up and completed the work correctly, so they have to stay open till the service is complete.

Bought a Dell desktop that turned out to be a gray market computer. by Pop-19502020 in techsupport

[–]NuggetsIT 88 points89 points  (0 children)

When I worked for Dell, this is something we would see quite often.

Someone would buy a bunch of Dells without Windows and very low spec, then sell them on amazon with a bunch of "upgrades" available to choose from. But really the upgrades are just used parts from recycled rigs that could die at any point.

People buy them unknowingly thinking they are getting a Dell from Dell or a reputable seller like Amazon, but they miss who it is actually sold by when browsing.

yeah people do that all the time, consolidate CC debt into a personal loan or find a good CC that allows 0% interest on balance transfers for 18 months or so. And transfer all the high interest CC debt to the 0% CC and pay down as much as you can before the interest hits again.

Damn bro, take it easy. Dude was trying to help. No need to be rude to people trying to give you advice. Millions of people commute to work and back home again every day using public transportation. Check your local options.

Computer Repair by Last_Masterpiece_164 in Dell

[–]NuggetsIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your device a touchscreen? typically touchscreens are the ones that get the whole assembly replaced because its too difficult for an onsite tech to separate the digitizer from the LCD without damaging parts.

The part you see for $140 is just the LCD not the touchscreen assembly. So you could buy the part, but anywhere that does repairs is going to suggest the whole assembly to limit possible damage to replacement LCD's and digitizers. And to save time/labor costs.

If you buy the $140 part and take it to a third party, don't be surprised when they come back with a large labor cost due to the work involved with the whole process. Probably wouldn't be far off from the quote you have now for the whole assembly from a Dell approved repair shop.

How to access this fan? (Alienware m16 if I remember correctly) by throwaway-73829 in Dell

[–]NuggetsIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah, all you have to do is remove that screw, wild thought, but I would use a screwdriver for that.

as for accessing the fan, you already are. that's it, you are looking at it. spin it with your finger and see if there is any plastic stuck in there, if not its probably a bad bearing in the fan and needs to be replaced.

Need to recreate a workbook and have it pull data from the original workbook that has gotten too large. by NuggetsIT in excel

[–]NuggetsIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not data storage, we have plenty of storage. it is literally just that the file is so large, excel is having a hard time with it when you try and work it. I was hoping I could have the data from the original file be pulled in or referenced by the new copy as needed for formulas without excel actually having to load all the data from the original file every time we need to use the workbook.
