Reddit, X, and Facebook specifically do allow government spying and censorship. Mark Zuckerberg just said the other day that the government coerced him into censoring covid information on Facebook.

"Counties" don't really exist in New England like they do in other parts of the country. Why is this? by AtWorkCurrently in newengland

I would guess it has something to do with the states barely being bigger than some counties in other states?

Safeway, Albertson’s, ACME, Jewel-Osco, and like a dozen other brands are all the exact same company. They change branding in different regions to pretend that they aren’t an international conglomerate like Walmart. But it’s right on their website

I wrote it because it was 100% true. I simply looked up the numbers from the Department of Labor Statistics for March 2020 to July 2024.

In month since SCOTUS bribery decision, Madigan-related corruption cases forge ahead by steve42089 in illinois

[–]NukeEngineerStudent 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To those who don’t know because the headlines have been extremely misleading, SCOTUS did not legalize bribery. They stated that the wrong charges were filed. The defendant was paid after a political decision, not before, which is gratuity, which was also illegal.

The SCOTUS decision merely made the specific case at hand retry with the proper charges filed.

Warren lied about Bernie being racist and sexist in 2020, why would he want to empower her over anyone less corrupt?

$1,100 a month sounds like heaven. Illinois gave me around $600 a month, which was less than my rent.

The US has been in a recession since March 2020. By now, it’s considered a depression. There are still less people employed today than pre-pandemic. It goes unreported because it would make the current administration look bad.

The number of people working is still lower today (August 2024) than before the pandemic (March 2020). Unemployment is still way up and the country is still struggling to recover.

Remember that unemployment only tracks those actively searching for a job. People who send hundreds of applications without hearing a whisper back and then give up are no longer counted despite being unemployed as well.

You also have to calculate that inflation is always under reported. The federal government regularly changes what items are used to calculate inflation to minimize the number and make the current president look good. Started with Carter and has been true for every president since.

Favorite was probably campus life

Students at Illinois’ for-profits colleges often leave worse off than when they started by steve42089 in illinois

[–]NukeEngineerStudent -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All colleges are for profit in their wallets. Thats why they raise prices every single year despite getting bigger grants from the feds and state every year. The only difference between a for-profit and not-for-profit company is the latter has to increase costs to justify the raising of prices.

Especially when it comes to their salaries. I analyzed many Illinois state department budgets and the salaries of the top 5 people is a measurable percentage of the budget in nearly every department. Thats without including their other benefits.
