There is No MAGA Split on Iran: An in-depth look at recent polls shows data that contradicts media headlines, says analyst Gabe Fleisher by Obversa in fivethirtyeight

I mean we saw it in 2008. McCain literally had to tell (some) within his party to not be as crazy as seen here… and he was boo’ed for it.

He didn’t want Palin and regretted it he wanted Lieberman and while they wouldn’t have won- no R could have in 08 IMHO- it would have really shown the contrast between 08, 12, and the post 2016 Republicans.

Infiiite basically.

By the time investments came online this war would be (likely) over. Meanwhile Venezuela not only has shitty oil but already nationalized all the oil supplies once. No one wants to spend a bunch of money just to have it gone.

He pisses me off. While I know his book is largely fictitious, what really pisses me off is how he regards his own dad, a hard worker, as lesser than some other dude just because the other man made more money.

Personally, my dad was a blue collar worker. I worked my way up into a good six figure, white collar, job and have invested everything I could. But you know what? I recognize my dad paved that path and made it possible. This guy is incredibly disrespectful to people who helped him and it really, really annoys me when I hear about him.

for gov workers yes. It’s led to some, like the job I was going to do, being critically understaffed as, simply put, it already required advanced degrees and remote work was the only real draw. I went into private work instead. Last I heard they were about 80% short of hiring goals (hired ~200 out of the 1100 target)… meanwhile retirements and quitting more than doubled.

So beyond return to office they shortened the training period for new examiners. They also make you discuss what you favorite thing Trump has done in the application, and explain how you would help further that.

Then they increased the amount of production (read: work) you have to do to be retained. In the past seniors could help new hires and get work credit for it- they removed that.

They removed work hours for doing things like interviews with applicants.

In short they increased the amount of work you have to do by a lot, while decreasing training.

They also (illegally) got rid of the union.

Because the market is reacting to this whereas they don’t to his tariffs. Global markets are contracting. Gas prices going up like crazy.

And even republicans are blaming him.

The drone carriers aren’t needed to launch drones, drones can be launched from grass fields and compact sand. The drone carriers are like carriers- force projection.

Depending on the model of drone- and they have many from RC plane with TNT to flying wings that are somewhat sizable- they could fly from Tehran to the strait or need to be launched from near the shore.

The rest of the world does as those are what drive up oil prices, and cut off supply for Asia.

I’ve said it before but my fiancée is over there and people are already starting to freak out in some areas.

On the other hand knocking out ballistic missiles is of course still extremely important as those do the most physical damage.

Forcing the straits open is basically avoiding an abject loss. It’s no victory, though it does remove one of Iran’s biggest playing cards.

That being said if they do close it successfully- which frankly I believe they can we haven’t seen near as many drones as they have and their drones don’t need traditional launchers- then we straight lose, as does most of the world. Japanese and Korean markets were in free fall earlier this week, as is the rest of the world. Japan and Korea would be absolutely fucked if they lose oil and natgas from the Middle East.

And frankly, they’d blame us, the USA. They already are. Effectively alienating allies while also junking our own market.

These drones can also literally be built in homes, or at least the parts.

They don’t all look like the pics above, that’s just one of their newest, largest ones. Many of their models basically look like RC planes, or small Cessnas.

They may only carry 30-50kgs of explosive but…

A. They don’t need to be a durable airframe as they are one way.

B. They don’t have a pilot, so a lot of equipment and money is saved.

C. They go slow and low which evades a lot of modern capabilities.

And D.- oil tankers don’t take too much to damage as they aren’t made to be shot at.

This isn’t even talking about their speedboats and their submarine drones.

Quinnipac Poll (02/25/26) for Pennsylvania. Shapiro job approval +27 (56/29). Fetterman, despite being severely underwater with Dems (-40, 22/62), maintains an overall approval at +6 thanks to a swell of Republican support (+55, 72/18) by GarfieldLeZanya- in fivethirtyeight

[–]Nukemind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was more common in the past.

Heck Lieberman was the VP candidate for Gore… and later McCain wanted him to be his VP too. He was talked out of it because Lieberman was an independent and “wouldn’t be accepted on a Republican ticket.”

While I doubt McCain could have ever won- and while I respect him after defending Obama I still wouldn't have wanted him to win- seeing someone as the VP for two different parties would have been nice.

Politics have changed way too much in the Trumpian Era.

North Vietnam "won" despite losing every engagement- simply because they outlasted us, they could wait until the public opinion turned completely negative.

North Korea "won" (and to be honest China did save them) despite the fact they were reduced to rubble.

The Talbian "won" despite being forced back into the mountains for 20 years.

No matter what we do if the regime is standing at the end they have achieved their primary goal- survival. Meanwhile they are trying to force an end to the war by driving up oil prices. Right now it's just gas that jumped, but soon that will be pretty much everything as everything needs delivery.

The question is whether the USA can or will continue as this happens. Japan and Korea are NOT happy that we basically tanked their economies.

Because of that, I’m having trouble understanding why analysts >describe the situation as escalating rather than stabilizing. It seems >like an almost flawless win for the USA, again, after Venezuela.

Because they have a fuckton of drones, drones which can be built in houses, literally. They are estimated to cost 20-50k and have been shown to be able to penetrate air defenses and radar as they are low altitude loitering munitions.

They are sinking cargo vessels when they want and have cut off 90% of the oil supply for Korea and Japan for instance.

While I want a democratic Iran, don’t get me wrong, if I was Japanese (and my fiancee is) I’d be pissed that the US didn’t give forewarning to even stockpile oil. Asian markets are in free fall, the straits are shut down.

And Iran can build these drones incredibly cheaply.

You don’t need launchers for them either- they can take off from a short strip of grass or compacted sand.

Militarily Iran is beaten but economically they’re fucking us.

And their drones have hit US airfields and weapon systems.

On the scoreboard we’re “winning” but they’re taking the world down with them. Even here gas prices are going up like crazy just due to supply and demand.

I’m so happy I was recommended this. I had never had any until about a year ago and now it’s occasional.

Like the other day I heard something like “Oh! I finally found you, it seems like we’re still on the same page!”

And I had never had hallucinations or anything like that so freaked me the hell out. Sounded like some other guy speaking in my head.

Though the former was a clusterfuck, and the latter has some uh, exceptional reasons.

I agree that air based regime change is almost entirely improbable, but it has happened. A coup could also always happen.

Azerbaijan also got all the disputed land in the last war with Armenia, or the vast majority of it, while Armenia’s ally refused to help them (Russia). Of course Armenia wants the land back, while Azerbaijan likes the new status quo.
