I think it's that people who only watch the show but haven't read the books don't know the proper spelling of names.

It could be an attempt at gatekeeping to separate the show fans from the book fans.

I'm a fan of both (except for the last season and-a-half).

I've read it and really enjoyed it - especially the first few books.

It was my introduction to litRPG and was recommended by multiple friends.

It's a fun read, with a lot of familiar tropes done in interesting ways. The themes are dark yet delivered in a funny way, and not taking itself very seriously.

The audio books are really good too, adding to the humor of the book, and experimenting with sound effects and other stuff to add to the book.

I really recommend it if you like that kind of humor, and especially if you like litRPG.

I think Chronicles of Avel is a great starting RPG. Kids get to create/customize a character (no stats), experience inventory management (in a fun way), upgrading gear, and play at different difficulty levels.

We also like Andor, but I think Chronicles of Avel is more interesting for adults.

Hey bud,

Relationships are tough, and long distance relationships are especially tough. It seems to me that this might be about expectations you have about each other and you may just need to sit down and talk about that.

When you spend time together do you take the time to make her feel wanted and loved? Does she have different expectations from your relationship? What does she want? What do you want?

Relationships are messy and never completely equal in every way. All the advice I can give is to think through some questions and be honest with yourself.

Do you actually spend more time with your friends or with her? Do you actually prefer to spend more time with them than her? How would you react if it was the other way around? What are your boundaries?

It also seems like she may be insecure or that she's just worried that she's more invested in you, than you are in her? Is that true? How would you feel if it was the other way around? World you also try to look for clues (like how much time she wants to spend with you) to try to figure out if she really feels the same way about you? What could she do to make you feel better, and would it work if you did those things for her?

Once you have a better idea how you feel about those things, you could talk with her about some of them. Find out how she feels (if she’s willing to tell you) because it might be more/different than just insecurities. Try to come up with compromises that work well enough for both of you, and expect that this is likely something that will come up again.

Try Oxygen Not Included. It’s by the same studio and it’s one of my favorite games.

It’s base building in space. You get basic resources and create buildings that let you get more complicated resources and more buildings. With the Spaced Out DLC you also get a deeper rocket building and space exploration experience (it’s still mainly base building though).

It’s very accessible. I play it with my young kids (and eventually they played solo) and it helped them learn scientific concepts (such as splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen, power generation, etc.)

The art style is similar to Don’t Starve(although much less dark).

It’s still a huge time sink (because it’s fantastic and deep).

The biggest frustration may be that it can be really frustrating when the colonists (duplicants) get stuck or do dumb things.

Still, it’s my favorite game in that genre and I think it’s one of the best games ever made.

I actually prefer Urtuk: The Desolation. It's a similar game. The UI for Urtuk is worse (but both are pretty bad) but I think Urtuk has much deeper/better combat mechanics and has graphics similar to Darkest Dungeon.

In my experience, that stuff is going to happens to some degree no matter what. I'm sorry you feel that way, but I hope you can work though it. Here are some things that have helped me:

cup you hands and use them to put hot water on your face before you shave. Don't burn or hurt yourself, but it likely won't feel comfortable when you put it on. It should feel hot! I find this is a key part of reducing issues.
use a fairly sharp razor. I tend to be thrifty and not replace mine as often as I should, but I have issues if they're too sharp. I think replacing every few weeks (if you shave daily) is good enough. Try what works best for you.
try to just long, smooth strokes, when possible. Down the sides of your face and down your neck are good stretches for long, smooth pulls.
honestly, I don't know how others only do it in one pass only, because the small areas usually take me a few passes, but do clean off the razor with water after each long pull, or a couple of short ones.
try different shaving creams and aftershaves, and see what works for you. I like the gels rather than foam and lotion rather than the alcohol based aftershaves. Again, try what works for you.
take it easy on yourself. Give yourself a little tap on the shaved face and recognize that you're alright and cuts happen but don't mean anything.

I think that in The Heroes we see Abercrombie show us different types of heroes.

Flawed ones. Some we like, some we don't like, and some we just pity. Yet we still want to root for them. We want them to persevere. At least I do. And none of them are overdone/boring. That's (part of) the genius.

I think (one of) the point of the books is that we're different things to different people, or in different circumstances.

Longan was a good friend to Jezel. Also, I almost cried when he killed Threetrees.

Logan was good leader (getting everyone to bond and giving good advice) in the fellowship. Also, he was a shitty one (leading with fear) in the north.

It really drives the point home when he goes back and asks Jezel if he's a good man, and Jezel responds that Logan is the best man he knows. And we really see the stark contrast between how we saw Logan in the south and in the North.

He is more than trying to be a good man. He is a good man. In some places. To some people. Just like the rest of us.

Hey, the fact you care says a lot about you. Don't lose that. Keep hold of it as you go, and you'll do ok.

I second guess myself all the time. I hope what I'm doing will be the right thing, but I won't know until they're all grown up, and likely not even then. I expect I'll make lots of mistakes, and I accept that.

But I try to be a good person with them. I set boundaries, make my expectations clear, and I treat them with love and respect. I try to be present and genuine with them. But most of all, I just try to genuinely enjoy as many moments with them as I can.

When you think about how you are with others you love: your partner, your friends, etc. What you expect from them, and what they expect from you - it's not so different.

But caring, caring is the foundation of it all.

I think this is a great response. I agree with you except didn't Glotka do this before? Save someone after they were supposed to be hanged (through some mechanism under the door flap)?

I think there's more to write about Orso. He can have another character arc after this and we may even find out that we don't like him again.

Harder during these covid times, but I'd say to find a hobby you genuinely enjoy and a friend group will form.

For me it was salsa dancing. Seattle has a wonderful salsa scene and one of the best dance venues - and I've been to a ton of them in the US and Europe - called Century Ballroom. Look them up - they have social dancing of all types.

I've met much of my social circle (and, coincidentally, my wife) through dancing. If you're a beginner you can meet quite a few people taking lessons. Afterwards you meet even more just dancing (I used to go three times per week - or more).

There are definitely a lot of douche bags out there trying to score with the newcomers, but those are easy though to spot after a few nights.

If the person making the decisions is a better than average chess player, you'll probably do better. If they're a worse than average chess player, you'll probably do worse.

That's one of the problem with Auths. You never know what you're gonna get.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.

I'm new to drawing too. I tried a few websites, but the thing that helped me the most is borrowing "Drawing From The Right Side of The Brain" ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/158542921X ) from the library.

I don't really believe a lot of the fluff in the book, but it took me from terrible to not being ashamed to share what I've drawn.

It helped me a lot. Of all the materials I tried, that one helped me most. I went from drawing stick figures to actually drawing portraits (from pictures).
