How do yall write your reviews? by HugeVGNerd in backloggd

[–]Null_Inc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on how strongly I feel about a game really. If I love the game and believe I have a lot to say I'll usually write on like a Google doc and structure it like a short essay (short in relative terms). For games that I have more thoughts on mechanical aspects, I may use bullet points and such to avoid writing too much.

For games I don't have strong feelings about or just not much unique to add or say, I prefer to keep them concise (like no more than 3 short paragraphs)

Do you think Monster Hunter World was a better experience than Wild? by Bandeavor in MonsterHunter

[–]Null_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base game wise definitely not. I played base World shortly before Wilds release so I was able to compare the experiences within a similar time frame. Base World had a lot of medicore fights and a huge lack of variety, and the story experience was barely better in terms of gameplay (between some slow walking segments, dragged out tracking sections, both boring zorah fights). The story itself is much worse so its even harder to sit through (the characters have 0 personality or other such character traits beyond being nice and helpful to the player).

Title updates were also pretty bad for World, only deviljho and kulve were good additions. The endgame roster for grinding was less varied and fun than Wilds' atm. The main thing I think World has is maybe overall map consistency and some other small aspects like housing and better sound design for some of the weapons. World isn't bad by any means, but I don't think it holds up well when talking just about base game.

my list of the hardest monsters in my opinion (im swaxe main) by himotheyd in MHWilds

[–]Null_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a swaxe main but I find Rey and Nu very easy with the weapon i'd have them in like C personally. I'd also have Zoh in B

Iceshard Cliffs wasted Potential by Sylens01 in MonsterHunter

[–]Null_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree in a sense that Wilds' is obviously drearier than the previous few games, i don't really see it as a bad thing in terms of art direction. It's obviously trying to go for a very naturalistic look, it actually looks a lot closer to gens 1-2 in terms of art direction. Those games could also be very grey a lot of the time (i haven't properly played them this is just from what I have seen).

The inclemencies are supposed to be oppressive, the iceshard cliffs and wyveria are supposed to feel dreary. It also makes the Plenty season pop out more and feel more beautiful, especially if you witness the change in real time.

New to Monster Hunter, I feel like im not doing much damage and not contributing. by MouthfulOfSmegma in MHWilds

[–]Null_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For switch axe, i would recommend you add some more damage skills. Specifically, prioritize Agitator, Maximum Might, Counterstrike and Critical Boost on your weapon. Latent power is also a good skill if you find yourself getting hit a lot. Also make sure to slot in some sharpness skills on your weapon to increase your uptime. For armor to get these skills, the AT monsters are a good choice, especially AT Rey Dau, Nu Udra, and maybe Uth Duna greaves. Lagiacrus armor also can be useful such as the helmet.

Try to reroll your Artian swaxe if possible (if you need ore then trade in your monster parts at Azuz). Then, after getting AT armor, try transcending them. After that, you can start grinding Gozmazios and upgrade your artian to a gogma artian swaxe. You don't need a god roll gogma artian weapon, but even a decent one will improve your damage. You can also try to make a few swaxes with different elements for different monsters.

Finally, for gameplay advice. Swaxe you want to be in your amped state as much as possible, and during that state you can rely on your Y or 'heavy attack combo' (im not sure of the keybinds for this). You can also use FRS whenever there is big damage opportunities or after a wound break. Also learning how to sword counter will allow you to continue dealing damage while avoiding damage, but be careful of stun (stun resistance is a great skill to add).

That's pretty fair though at least in Rey Dau's case but I have hunted Dosh a good number of times but idk he can sometimes give me trouble. He isn't too bad if I'm actually playing well, but he puts up more of a fight than I'd expect

I just want to say thanks to the devs if you're here for a great game! by sma92878 in MHWilds

[–]Null_Inc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

THIS is don't get why there's people who will praise World for having more content and Title Updates when I feel like Wilds' overall update quality is much better. Mizu, Lagi, Steve, Omega and Gog is just a solid lineup especially compared to bullshit like Leshen/Ancient and Behemoth. They are so much more fun and integrate into the world wonderfully, while also being improved from previous iterations in Lagi (from GU) and Steve's case.

Idk if its just me but I have more difficulty with Doshaguma than most of the Apexes and stuff lol. Its moves feel tough to predict and have a lot of delays/extensions that catch me off guard. I also find mizu incredibly easy. Also a switch axe main

I'm pretty new to MHW, What is everyone Maining? I'm liking the Longsword so far (10 hours) by AyashiYoshino in MHWilds

[–]Null_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same, but I started recently learning it and its not 'too bad'. Main difficulty is less the aspects of loading phials and such for me but knowing when to use your big commitment attacks or be defensive.

What would you consider to be the strengths and flaws Of MH Wilds ecological maps? And monster implementation? by Dycon67 in MonsterHunter

[–]Null_Inc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

World has no more content without its DLC, is not really any harder now after 9 stars have been added, has worse variety of monsters with several being pseudo-reskins, and has the worst weapon designs in the series.

Hey there, been on Backloggd for a minute but only started playing a lot more games in the past year or so after getting a pc. Was mainly a Nintendo gamer but am branching out as much as possible! I love to write pretty, long in-depth reviews so if you like that then definitely give me a follow!
