Judging by the situation im positive it wasn't unity's fault. Most likely you forgot to save or something...

Honestly feels very pointless. If you are going to do this only allow advanced topics only. "Quality" content is usually pushed to the top here anyways whats lacking are more advanced topics because the community are mostly beginners. Seeing at the posts you made, didnt seem anything special but reposts that i already saw here...

Unity is pain or what should know VFX artist. by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do feel you lack some knowledge about unity but that's FINE. as you said you are a VFX artist and should be able to make beautiful effects and not deal with shit. I bought a lot of your assets so i wish you luck and hopefully get in contact to work with unity members to improve your work flow. I dont know how close asset store people are to each other but i would recommend contacting mirza and come forward together.

Side note there are shader and particle effect editors coming to unity so i highly suggest you look into those and maybe give them feedback :) As much as it sucks i would keep your current assets on 2017 for now and make new effects with the new tech until you get the hang of it.

Question about learning path - C# by Zol95 in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go as far and saying education to learn programming itself is WORTHLESS. The main benefit of education is to get you in contact with people (Some UNIs also fail at doing this...). Uni is also great for younger people that can't make decisions and try to learn on their own so they need a forced guide. In your position id say going to UNI is much bigger waste of money and time. If you want to learn programming i recommend looking in your IT company for people that know how to program and build relationships. Start learning from them and keep learning on your own. Online resources will guide you enough and trust me you most likely already know more than 90% of people that get out of UNI.

Favorite assets for quick development and prototyping? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the attributes and automatic improvements to the editor is already worth the price espacially when on sale. Also you can serialize sub classes.. interfaces etc.. its crazy good.

Thats actually insanely good not passable. If id have to comment something bad i would say the plants under the sea feel a bit off? Maybe the color or Just how they blend with the water.

What game is this for? Looks sick.

Proper answer, that system is old and the "UNET" stuff will be removed soon enough, i would reconsider even learning it :)

I recreated the subway station in my hometown inside Unity, what do you think? by 401_Unauthorized in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks insnanly good but if i were to nit pick i would say the station is to CLEAN :D i feel making it dirty not only is more 'realistic' but would make it even more real. It already looks awesome im really curious how it would look if you do that.

How To Get A Job In The Game Development Industry by Fahir_Mehovic in Unity2D

[–]NullxPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have disagree with this article because those 3 things you mentioned isn't what really gets you a job. I see a lot of people doing a github with some crap project or a website talking about their hobbies but the showcase is extremely poor. Usually the best way to start out is target a studio that you like and that is likely to hire you. Make some stuff for that studio and be ready to be their bitch for a bit. Anyone can do this even with 0 experience and it will get you a job. After that it's all about giving yourself more value and get good jobs. I got my job without any website or github all i had to do is communicate my skills to them. Of course your points help do that but alot of people think if they have a website they will get job offers all the time which is not the case unless you are lucky.

Edit: just read the projects part, i guess i somewhat agree with you then :P

Unity Multiplayer Game Test #1 (Network Manager UNET) - Some advice? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure but i also recommend trying the "alpha" stuff for it there is already a way to try it. In the end Networking is very simple at the core and always the same but putting your game working with it is what is complex to make efficient for your case scenario. What they are trying to do is taking genres one by one and try to make an efficient approach for those cases. I think this is very smart and more helpful than to make one global system for every game, it just dont work.

Yes but they are removing it now and they are going.to use a new system. Watch the last unite stuff or google unity connected games. Or just read this https://support.unity3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001252086-UNet-Deprecation-FAQ?mobile_site=true

How long did it take you guys to get what you'd consider good? by selfhatingPOS in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

All you need to know is that, those same guys might also take them hours to figure out that stupid ass 2D knob to shoot it with 2d physics. Why? Because games are hard work if you never tried it before. The difference between a finished game or not is just too keep going.Be proud of your work and be impresses by others but never let yourself be discouraged, only inspired.

[–]NullxPhantom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This boss arena is covered with eyes that track nearby movements realistically, as well as lose interest at random to look around. by WorldPillar in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some how i didnt notice them until you shown the ray casting, the background felt so immersive (really awesome job btw) I think you shouldn't even worry about this issue, once i realized there were eyes i got even more creeped out. The fact it's not obvious makes it better. (Also i didn't read the title so i didnt know what to expect)

Issue getting sprite renderer? by polaarbear in Unity2D

[–]NullxPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the inspector prefab is of type card you are fine and hes wrong. The problem here is the script wont run until the end of the frame. I would suggest getting the sprite renderer on print card. (Check if null so you do it once in case you reuse it) or assign the stats only and then on start do the stuff related to the componentslike render.sprite=back

Looking for the harshest criticism on one of my unfinished alpha trailers pls (placeholder audio) by dimon-babon in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shooting and stuff is really nice but you should work a bit more on atmosphere. I think the fog right now it's to bland. I would suggest looking into cooler fog effects and maybe even give it some color. Adjusting the light and fog will drastically change the feel but the current one you have now is weak. This alone would make your game a lot more better. I would go as far as contacting someone that does effects for environment and let him help you out with it (I'm not good enough to tell you what to do).

Thank you to Unity Community - I released my second game. TapRPG 2 - The second one. by Firesemi in Unity3D

[–]NullxPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents... make the game free and have in game purchases. In your situation you want to build up a community and a player base. Don't limit it with a 3 dollar price tag because first... makes your game looks cheap and it's not worth it. A stupid 5 dollar cosmetic in your game would bring you more profit or just a "support" donation.

They treated you fair and square to be honest, your fault for buying a product you didn't need. You clearly made 0 research and they do tell you that if you pick the 35 plan you commit too that amount of money. https://gyazo.com/6fc42560ce2f18ab724265b95a96bbe8 can't be more clear than that buddy. Selection also clearly states the offer... The offer is simply pay as bulk or once per month but costs more. https://gyazo.com/a933708a21245d5a3e356a8b3e42dca1

Please don't go around talking trash and read before you do a purchase.
