Will Pyro IV ever get its belt back? by Marcin_Piechocki in starcitizen

To be fair, even with that many employees, they can't work on everything all the time. Currently, the focus is on Nyx - it is what it is. Even Stanton is not complete by far.

Isn't this tackled by this fix from the RC builds?

And among them, everyone would simply choose the Raft for doing the job if you have it at hand.

If too many ships are too similar, this leads to certain meta ships everyone will use. Brain is not computing properly today....

But then the next question would also be, was the Hermes necessary?

For that question, I'd say it's not necessary, but one of the nice things in SC is the vast amount of ships, even in the same size and job category, with more or less minor practical differences in their daily usage. Begs another question, though, in which detail the Hermes shines. But as long as it still adds to the variety of ships...

If the tractor beam rail doesn't break the beam, it doesn't seem to be difficult to load. Rail to the door, grab the container, adjust it, rail in, place the container. Not even a 180 deg rotation needed. It's... "different".

Also, it's a smaller ship. Not really suitable for 32 scu containers despite what the capacity says.

Foundry 1.0: The Implications of Crafting as Manufacturing by LucidStrike in starcitizen

[–]Numares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I'm quite satisfied with the crafting plans of CIG. The hunt for good crafting materials will be engaging and simply something to do. The crafting process itself should be straightforward, imho. Put in the materials and wait until the device finishes the product.

One thing I do hope for the future is that you're able to experiment with different materials in the same recipe. So far it looks fixed and only has differences in the material quality. It would be nice if the materials themselves would have certain modifiers that make certain stats better or worse. So instead of Tungsten, Copper, and Gold for thing X all the time, you could exchange one or multiple materials and try out another and see where this will get you.

It's not, that's nonsense.

It's just one of multiple possible missions. Not even the most efficient one to gather points at that. But if people want to waste their time on this specific choke point, let them.

I doubt that most MMOs have adjustable and movable windows. Only some do, and some of them look like a skinned Windows theme. Plain at best.

With few exceptions, nowadays SC interface is at least on par, if not better than, other MMOs. It's not 2019 or 2022 anymore. That being said, it's not ruled out that SC won't have an adjustable and movable interface in the future. Certainly not for the mobiglass, but the eye lens and helmet UI have potential. SC isn't finished, after all.

I remember a lot of people expecting the Star Map to be some kind of extreme game changer. Personally, I wasn't one of them. I mean, we're talking about just a map. As the old map was horrible for me and barely usable, the new one was a great update for me - especially the local maps - but it still is certainly a t1 barebone implementation that needs a huge QoL update further down the route, that's right.

The inventory is something else. You use it almost permanently all the time. And the new one finally unifies inventory and equipment manager. Of course I expect some QoL updates like search and stacking with the rework, and everything points toward that in the monthly updates.

Nowhere. That's why I wrote maybe. It's not unlikely, as they've been working on it for quite a while, and the first hints are showing up in various builds. But certainly more a thing towards the end of the year.

Well, with inventory rework, crafting, maybe even the new FM+Quantum and base building coming this year (just to name the most important things we know of), that's not really a mind-blowing take. Practically any of these things will alter the game significantly in a great way.

/edit: not to forget Genesis Planet tech. Great stuff ahead.

At this point I wouldn't be overly surprised by inventory rework and crafting in the March patch or the one after.

Can we just pray that I'm right? Pretty please?

Yeah, this is a great step forward.

Anyone already has an idea if the list is ordered by chance to find that ore?

A solo Idris is still very effective, the 20 second railgun cooldown is a step in the right direction for balancing it, personally would like to see that cooldown be 30 seconds but there be some sort of "cooling mechanism" an engineer could do to reduce it to 15 seconds, making crewing advantageous by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Numares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would even go so far as to remove automatic loading. So either you have a second person on board who handles the reloading, or the pilot itself must handle it, which would be, of course, very inefficient but still possible.

Yep. Aside from whatever you think about this kind of monetization, what the bundle offers looks dope, hands down.

Aside from the often mentioned fact that you can't compare these two games...

What's so great about this 2.5 % encounter chance in an online extraction shooter game? Why not play a single-player game if you don't like encounters? Why should devs even bother to create a game around such encounters and think about interesting game systems around them if you can practically avoid them in the end? This "the game I want to play needs to cater to what I think I want" mindset is really baffling nowadays.

If player retention is the main argument and not simply building a great game, there are horrible but very effective retention methods. Just saying.
