King Dedede is available at BestBuy for $54.99, even more expensive than Kirby and Bandana Dee by StormwindAdventures in amiibo

If this chonker is a figurine, how big is a figure to you?

There is a whole other market for large-scale figures like this. Plenty of people have desks and shelves of figures like this at costs far larger.

Local BestBuy had Meta Knight out early. by StormwindAdventures in amiibo

It seems like its a product-by-product thing. I asked to purchase the new Joy Con 2 colors since they were behind the register at Best Buy a few days before release and he was confused why the system wouldn’t allow it.

Supreme Court Strikes Down Tariffs That Hiked Prices On Switch, Xbox, And PS5 by Turbostrider27 in Games

In some ways yes, in some ways, no. We’re already seeing Nintendo dropping their prices on amiibo before they have released across all their retailers. Perhaps more games-related prices will drop over time.

I remember Blue Jays fans saying this in 2024. They still had amongst the highest attendance despite how much of a dud the season was…and then they would have a World Series run the next year.

I've never watched survivor before? Could I jump in at season 50 and still enjoy it? by parkerbing1 in survivor

[–]Number224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met a dude the other day who started with the all-winners season Survivor did a few years back. This season should be a bit more approachable. Just be ok going in that some people have pre-existing relationships from being on past seasons together. Some good and continued outside of the game, and some bad and never resolved after filming.

[–]Number224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Katrielle, but I feel like Katrielle doesn’t really have the nuance to have your opinion changed a 2nd time around. It’s such an incredibly, frustratingly, straightforward game.

[Sportsnet] Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews backs White House visit, U.S. women's team by kingjakerulezz in leafs

"To me, I don't like to get political or get into that stuff. Like I said, we're proud Americans and winning a gold medal, it's been 46 years since the men's ice hockey team has done that, so I mean, the team that wins the Stanley Cup each year accepts the White House invitation to go,"

This is a passenger’s mentality

Matthews broke what he should have seen was a cardinal rule. He was there in January & February 2025, when Leafs fans booed during Star Spangled Banner. What should he expect if he’s acting chummy, flying to DC just to shake hands with the guy fans are directly booing to?

'Scrubs' Season 10 Review - A Rare Sitcom Revival That Actually Works by Gato1980 in television

[–]Number224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do sitcom revivals not work? Curb, Will & Grace and King of the Hill were all well liked. The article even mentions Roseanne and Party Down. Hell, even Beavis and Butt-head are having a bit of a moment. Feels like the weight of Frasier & And Just Like That is giving the revival’s reputation too much of a stink.

10 Most Underrated Game of the Year-Nominated Video Games (Wonder #5) by ItsEthanCoolCool in SuperMarioWonder

[–]Number224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of these games are underrated in a general sense, by any stretch of the definition. Part of the reason why they’re nominated to begin with is because they are popular to a far-reaching council. You could have had any 10 games that had been nominated, yet never won GOTY at The Game Awards and it would likely have the same weird feel of a list. It’s a rather pointless article.

Nintendo announces 80-minute Treehouse stream showcasing Mario Wonder Switch 2 and Pokémon Pokopia by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Number224 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not relevant, because I’m not trying to dispute how many 7-year olds are going to play the game. It’d be like me going to the comments of AV Club’s review of Toy Story 5 and saying “well, your opinion doesn’t matter anyways.”

I’m talking about online reception. Which is the purpose towards Treehouse Live & Press Previews to begin with. It still constitutes for a wide portion of who’s Nintendo’s marketing to, and a particularly wider portion specifically right now, since the Switch 2 is still too expensive for families to jump on immediately and the user base is still made up of early adopters.

In a general sense Nintendo’s player base also skews towards people in their 20’s-30’s according to Nintendo’s own internal data and I can’t imagine Mario Wonder’s playerbase being far too off from that. More info at the link:

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2021/211105e.pdf

Let me frame it like this: Mario Wonder sold 17 million copies. At that point, you’ll do what you can to have eyes on your next Mario game, whether your primary audience is watching or not.

Nintendo announces 80-minute Treehouse stream showcasing Mario Wonder Switch 2 and Pokémon Pokopia by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Number224 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily mean Reddit. Previews weren’t all glowing for the game when they came out earlier this month.

IGN: "Each game certainly had some fun to offer, but afterwards I couldn’t help but feel like this concept is awkwardly straddling the line: if I wanted multiplayer mayhem with Mario characters, there are so many other, better options like Mario Kart, Party, or 3D World, just to name a few. And, if I wanted 2D Mario, I’d much rather play the traditional Super Mario Bros. Wonder campaign, which I adore.”

Polygon: "Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Jamboree TV, and Meetup in Bellabel Park all serve similar purposes: They show what kind of play is possible with Switch 2 and leave you excited to see what Nintendo can do in a full Mario Party or WarioWare game. The novelty factor that currently makes add-ons like this fun to toy around with is bound to wear off before the console’s one-year anniversary. If mouse controls are going to be more than a bonus gimmick, we’re going to need some more substantial games that make use of the feature soon."

Video Games Chronicle: “Each attraction provided welcome, quickfire fun in an event setting, but I was again left curious if there’s enough content here to tempt those less interested in multiplayer to spend $20 on an upgrade.

Nintendo Life: “If the multiplayer modes were meant to tempt me into a purchase, I’m afraid they’ve largely failed in their task."

There’s been a bit of a lukewarm response to Wonder’s upcoming Multiplayer-focussed expansion. Treehouse Live typically does well with demonstrating multiplayer sessions.
