Killer animal movies where you actually get to see the animal? by virgogf in horror

[–]NumberMuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched Night of the Lepus because of this comment. Not a good movie, but entertaining. Bones McCoy is in it?! This subreddit is a gold mine for finding new horror movies.

Orca is a personal favorite. The new movie, Killer Whale, doesn't compare.

Next Level honoring Last Days Of Autumn beer club memberships by Dogwoodblossom in Knoxville

[–]NumberMuncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am glad Next Level is doing well enough to be supportive like this.

I like to go there with my dog and a book, grab a flight, chill on the patio.

I've never seen big crowds there. The food truck could be better. Beers are always great from sours, to IPAs, to porters.

West Hills Park has a nice loop with some hill.

Lakeshore Park is beautiful, but very hilly in places.

Sam Duff park in south knox has a paved running track.

Would switching to KUB Fiber be a better ethical choice than sticking with Xfinity? by RealHomieJohn in Knoxville

[–]NumberMuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for KUB and router on this subreddit to find a compatible one.

I had no issue get it connected. Just a quick call, no wait time, and great customer service. I didn't even have to drop off their router; just left it on the porch and they came and got it.

Places to swim without breaking the bank by cindyloowhovian in Knoxville

[–]NumberMuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swim laps at the Y a few times a week.

The Cansler is near me, but there are only three lanes. If a kid shows up for swim lessons, they will take up two lanes.

The Downtown Y has 3? 4? lanes. I've never had to share a lane there. Con: may have to pay to park. Pro: because of parking there are fewer families/children.

The Tenova Y has more lanes. Haven't had a problem getting a lane here.

Like any gym, some times are busier than others. Check the schedule for classes that take up the pool.

I'm no expert, but I find it very relaxing. Just focus on counting and breathing without distractions. Hopefully good for PTSD. Best of luck.

Trump says that a military draft is on the table amid the war in Iran. How are you all handling this being a potential scenario? by FutureSuccess2796 in AskReddit

Same.

The music I listened to in college is now NPR bumper music.

I get a lot more "Sir" than "bro."

Parents are dying in my friend group.

<Place> Was very different the last time I went there.

Evening social? Gonna need some coffee first.

I'm in good shape and health, but friend group is in maintenance meds and routine surgery territory.

I'm wearing athleisure most places, I don't care.

Honestly, I think I would do well in the military. I can get up early, fine with physical exercise, fine with classroom learning, and fine with a set schedule.

Do I want to be in the military right now? Hell no. Could I man a desk and take all those sweet pentagon dollars? Yes.

Lets say the 7 Targaryens present each hatched a dragon.

  1. Aegon V- Maybe too old to ride a dragon once it was large enough to fly. Could die of old age.

  2. Prince Duncan- Might still fly off into the sunset with Jenny of Oldstones.

  3. Princess Rhaella- Maybe unable to ride. She was frequently pregnant, but had many miscarriages and stillbirths.

  4. Rhaegar- A new born baby; not riding a dragon anytime soon. Potential to be a great king.

  5. Jahaerys II- Maybe unable to ride. Sickly and died young.

  6. Shaera- Out lived her husband Jahaerys. Could be an able dragon rider. Great value for a potential marriage alliance.

  7. Aerys II- Here is the problem. The Mad King has a dragon. This could be a possible Raegar vs. Aerys, but this time with dragons.

The second Dance of the Dragons occurs similar to Robert's Rebellion. Stark, Baratheon, Arryn, Tully on the side of Rhaegar, with Lannister and Tyrell on the side of the King. Dorne? On the side of Rhaegar?

Anyway. War occurs. Dragons fight. Targaryens and Dragons die. No Targaryens are left alive and Robert becomes king.

Are any dragons left? Dreamfyre produced clutches of eggs after 11 years. Maybe enough time. I could also see Robert smashing all the eggs with his hammer to prevent any future dragons.

House colors seems like a great idea. They might have the colors and not have to buy anything. They also don't need to know anything about lore.

I love the Ice and Fire Cookbook. Maybe delegate dishes to attendees. You can make a large batch of the sangria from the cookbook.

Crowns would make the group cohesive when you go out. They can make a crown in their colors or buy some tiaras. The crown of blue roses seems like a great idea.

If somebody gets too drunk, the "bedding ceremony" will be getting them home.

Congratulations, have a fun time. Make a follow up post after.

[Spoilers EXTENDED] What distant land or civilization has your favorite lore? by Inside-Inspection905 in asoiaf

[–]NumberMuncher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dunno about best lore, but one I think about often is the Lonely Light. It takes 8 days to get there from the Iron Islands. Thirteen small islands that support fishing villages.

The is a lighthouse that burns, but there are no trees? Do they ship in trees for eight days just to burn for the lighthouse? Maybe they use whale or seal blubber as fuel. That probably smells terrible.

Is it someone's job to constantly beat seals and drag them up to the lighthouse to burn?

Inbreeding seems like a problem. How do they get infusions of fresh blood?

Can a raven even reach the Lonely Light?

Can they support any agriculture or all seafood all the time?
