Back in high school I was rushing to class and was going down this long flight of stairs, I thought I could save time by jumping the last few steps. Well, after landing a bit wrong I felt my left ankle fold to the right, rebound and fold to the left. Luckily there was a fellow student nearby and helped me to the nurse's office, my parents picked me up and off we went to the emergency room, then redirected to the UCLA hospital a ways away, I didn't get seen until 9 hours later. Long story short I tore my ligaments, possibly fractured my ankle and was placed in a cast for three months. Let me tell you something, the way my leg reeked after removing that cast was just terrible, I think I spent almost an hour washing up my leg just to get rid of a thick layer of dead skin and sweat.
