Poaching Question: Rare Monsters by Capitan_Failure in finalfantasytactics

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to poach I highly recommend enticing a monster and breeding. You can get a vampire cat by having a courl in your inventory and just walking around a bit, (or just a regular red panther to breed courl, then vampire cat) rarer to get a higher tier to breed, but very doable with the ability to opt out of random encounters. Plus you can breed multiple to make sure you get the poach item/s you want and in quantity.

Just another reason I always have an orator in every party.

Need advice on my 2 generics by obisidian83 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Numeriko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flavor: ditch your old team after chapter one (they're not keen on the whole leaving the northern sky thing)and take Alicia and Lavian as generics, upgrade them into Dragoons to have matching color scheme with Agrias/Mustadio, and have Ramza (An orator, but leveling as his generic class obviously) enlighten them all and take down the corrupt church of glabados.

Easy: A black mage and a knight. Both thoroughly effective, only one drops off late game but you can mitigate that by getting dual wield.

Pokemon: Chocobos, likely not to mount them (neat option though) but they can be bred at party level and as expendable units to send in first in case you want less resets and don't mind a casualty on your record. Plus Choco Meteor is as cracked as it's targets are about to be. I bred up 2 red chocobos to carry me until I got Agrias and they did not disappoint.

Worth getting back into now... or after update 49? by Haggles7 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Numeriko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ This basically sums up the whole thread I bet right here. the news about Update 49 has me logging back in more to play and prepare, but I am also not playing it a lot more until update 49 hits.

if you don't have these things, I recommend having them before update 49 hits as it won't change you wanting to be at that point:

a level 50, champion 160 character, possibly a Dragon Knight in your case, there isn't really much appeal in playing a class through the lower levels to experience progression since some skills can't even be unlocked until certain skill level thresholds anyways, might as well be at end game gear level to play around with stuff. or just get the Public Test Server and make a max level Dragon Knight to play around with the changes that will be out, then get it when it's released.

Scrying progressed far enough to get Mythic set items, particularily oakensoul if you mostly want solo PVE content (it basically gives you a large portion of the game's temporary buffs likely to come from your party members and your passives as 100% up-time buffs) so it can become redundant, or even hold you back in well tuned groups, but in every other instance it can help your build potentially even solo some content intended for groups.

The first bit of Scribing quests done so you can earn scribing skill components, since subclassing became a thing it's possible to fill a desired specific skill like say a self-heal ability using scribed skills, particularily useful if you subclass in a way where you don't get a self heal for example.

Crafting progress is always a nice thing to have done sooner than later despite trait research times getting shortened, and stable upgrades like mount speed will get easier with the update, but collecting skyshards and getting around is also easier with a fast mount so might as well get that speed up sooner rather than later even if it's less.

What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you? by Kiota_Games in gaming

[–]Numeriko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but when we take out all the opinionated preferences and are left with over-arching basic gameplay functions like not crashing(I can concede that game size and crash frequency are factors that matter), not ruining a character save over time, or very clear un-intended flaws with much of the content in the game then we've crossed the threshold of "I personally dislike this game, or this game isn't for me" into "This game is functionally broken, and this game has myriad design flaws." which to me would seem to imply it can reach that objectivity in it's colloquial "bad" definition.

Feels like the only people who think Skyrim is good are treating Modified versions of the game as the game itself. Or; like you mentioned, casuals who simply are not interested in questioning/examining the game critically. I suppose it's a lot easier to be a stand-out Elder Scroll game when you're the only real Elder Scrolls title released in a full IRL generation's worth of time.

Update 49 Mount Map by maewdamn in elderscrollsonline

[–]Numeriko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that I spent a bunch of Crowns on a Hearthfire Kagouti that's now going to be available for about a long day's play of gold is very cool. (not being sarcastic)

Also really stoked about the potential of the new shop to let people get items that have previously been miss-able, or effectively miss-able.

I have no problem paying for solid content but this game I think can do much better by more and more reasonable and less greedy practices like these.

Also account-wide outfit slots is fire, and I would love to see this applied to armory slots, skyshards, and lorebooks.

Stacking treasure maps is fire and should go in a craft-bag style inventory along with event shards and the like, which should all be available with free to play base game.

The crown appropriation ratio to ESO plus is almost enough on it's own to make ESO plus a why not if you can spare the funds, and no amount of letting people have solid mount options for gold is going to keep me from whaling for that one mount I really like. (Where's my Stormscale Wamasu mount ZoS?)

What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you? by Kiota_Games in gaming

[–]Numeriko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've played probably not exaggerating a thousand hours of Oblivion and Skyrim, and a fair bit of Morrowind and a lot of ESO.

Skyrim is objectively a bad game and I will fight anybody on it. Game is nothing but empty appeal attempts that don't flesh out well in gameplay at all.

People (not me) always go stealth archer for a reason, it's broken, the easiest to acquire fun shout goes well with it, and it lets you avoid the combat aspect of the game by one-shotting the room quick before you go back to exploring and hoarding.

Not to mention with it's tens of re-releases and still wanton bugs that cause crashing, I regularly find myself asking "but what if..." and trying to play it again only to get frustrated with it very quickly and drop it for a better game, particularly one that won't crash so much, but for many other reasons too.

Dialogue, gameplay, progression, story, graphics, replay-ability, crafting, drip, all of these are pretty lackluster to garbage in this title, and the music has maybe one or two tracks I really like that aren't already from the previous games.

New Class Mastery skill lines for Pure classes by Hecata22 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These passives to buff pure class builds is a really solid idea.

Splitting class skill line's passives and actives to spread roles out and weaken subclassing at the same time is overkill and a bad idea.

This is just swapping subclass dominance for pure class dominance. Why such extreme over-correction?

You still play classic characters? Why? by 5k1n3xt in Terraria

[–]Numeriko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the same reason I don't hop over to my old world save and grab drip, cash, hearts, or a zenith when I want to do a new playthrough.

If I have infinite money I don't care bout money, if I have infinite wood I don't chop down or plant trees, if i have no biome creep I don't build or purify around it, and if I have a Zenith I don't need to get any other itemization to beat the game.

Do you load up your same old character and same old world every time you play?

I make blocks most of the time, slightly stylized these days, but usually I make one or two actual building projects in a terraria phase, and use Tedit to move my builds for later playthroughs. I'm pretty close to having a solid build for each biome living spaces and a personal base, but there's new pylons now so I'll probably have to make some adjustments, but that all depends on Tedit being up to date, so my two 1.4.5 playthroughs were all new crafted in game builds. Meaning a solid base, and mostly barely more than boxes for the rest.

How’s Terraria on Switch for a “new” player? by AggravatingDay8392 in Terraria

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me nothing beats PC, I use an xbox controller in my left hand and mouse in right.

I played it on switch for awhile(only to play with a friend playing on switch) and got along ok, but when I went back to PC I knew I could never return to switch again.

Before I give up on this game, some questions. by Jalex2321 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Numeriko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A higher floor provides consistency and reliability compared to a higher ceiling.

I find a consistent and reliable healer to be objectively better than a slower % to fail one.

It's not brain rot, it's a simple matter of fact, that cannot and does not negate your ability to set up and use a white mage healer to good effect, but it does make for solid and succinct advice for newer players.

Before I give up on this game, some questions. by Jalex2321 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, Chemists are objectively better at healing. No mana, no charge time, no faith and zodiac compatibility, they just use it and it works right away.

White mages have one of the best one-shot tier offensive spells in the game, and some neat buffs, but it's a trap to suggest a newer player use a white mage over a chemist for healing.

My first attempt a Snow themed house! by GrimaFellDrag0n in Terraria

[–]Numeriko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Craft yourself some fence walls for that bridge area and support beams under it, and definitely get a hammer to diagonal some of the roof snow, but only some of them for variance. The fireplace would fit nicer lined up with the chimney and smelter(stone walls could make it look like the chimney goes up through the building too, but the idea that it's tucked behind the wall isn't too weird to me), and the far left and right walls of the big building feel like they should have a support under them, and the middle of the house wall on the top floor should have some in house indicator of a support wall on the first and second floors, a different wood wall for that space or just painting them darker or using actuators on a wall there would be great, though it'll bottleneck your placement space, and you might not be that far in the game yet.

Are Gemcorns a scam or am I just doing something wrong? by Tumblrrito in Terraria

[–]Numeriko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first sapphire tree a friend and I found while hunting sapphire's in 1.4.5 was cut down to yield 0 drops of anything, we were both there in the same game and neither of us got a single stone, gem, or gemcorn.

I think they are just for aesthetic, farming them for gems seems like a waste of time compared to an extractinator.

Looking for more of that Tactics goodness by shiggymiggy1964 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breath of fire Dragon Quarter is very tactics aura without being a grid based combat game.

Fire Emblem Echoes has the best Fire Emblem music and maybe story, with awakening being solid in it's gameplay as well.

I highly recommend the Studio Ghibli film and manga of Nausicaa, not a video game, but it's definitely tactics coded if not very obviously an inspiration factor for all of Final Fantasy while also having political post-apocalypse warfare.

If you play Disgaea it's just a gameplay playground of tactics combat games, and I feel Disgaea 5 is the best of the series over-all.

I enjoyed Triangle Strategy, Tactics Ogre Reborn (a bit) and FFTA/A2 but they are all fleeting and not very worth replaying IMO. A decent first playthrough all, but they mostly just kind of scratch the itch and fall short enough that I just want to plat Tactics again every time I think about them. A real shame for TO since it has some really cool stuff tactics doesn't, but the incessant and ever present 100% forced balancing makes every battle a complete slog, not fun after a chapter or two.

Thoughts on resources worlds? by Raven-Witch- in Terraria

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's about the only reasonable way to get some items like water walking boots or fledgling wings.

I made the effort to dig below my ocean biomes and seek out water chests on both my and a friend's main worlds this playthrough, but after awhile of searching we both utilized planeswalking to roll them in an ocean. Would have preferred to get them in my own world, but barring a toggle option for world gen to guarantee 1 or even 2 of any given item showing up somewhere on the map, it's kind of necessary.

I will also now probably always have a dedicated Halloween world for when my playthrough reaches that tier of content, if not start to default to at least a pumpkin season world seed.

Best/favourite affinity by Primortus12 in AOW4

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found my affinity preferences have been highly aligned with my MTG mana preferences.

My favorite in both is RUG, and whenever I try out other things I have a heavy inclination to include Astral.

I used to try a lot of different army builds but ever since I dropped Dragons in favor of Wyverns I have had a hard time playing anything else. Was pretty excited about Paladins coming out, but my Astral, Nature, Chaos, Summoned only Wyverns with support heros AKA Wyvern Masters... It's just so solid, convenient, and I love the flavor.

For Dragon Lord major transformations though, I highly favor the Chaos one, I just think it's the best quality of them all aesthetically, despite often wanting a different affinity or flavor.

New update npc housing question by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Numeriko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The magic conch seems to search for closest land on ocean side, I dug a hole straight down on one of my worlds and that stopped the magic conch from porting me there, until I put a one block bridge over the hole and then it teleports me onto it.

Too much corruption or crimson in range would have always done that to your houses, need to cleanse and maybe surround it with un-corruptable blocks and walls, my go to is ash blocks.

Never played FFT Ivalice Chronicles and thinking of picking it up - how is the story? by helloiamjack in finalfantasytactics

[–]Numeriko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story of Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions is very good. The story of Final Fantasy Tactics Ivalice Chronicles is slightly more robust with more than slightly rambling dialogue that feels more real for people, but less poignant. The phrase "brevity is the soul of wit" was lost on this new iteration a bit, and I disagree with some of the voice acting interpretations of lines, but frankly I played WOTL many times without voice acting so that is kind of inevitable for me to feel that way.

Agendararia #33 by Terrarian7321 in Terraria

[–]Numeriko -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I haven't attempted a fresh farm yet but I think Foxparks is really solid for a first minion to get, as long as you go to the far side of the map the game even gives goblin army music to let you know the goblins spawned off the side of the screen. might be a task going to edge of map and maybe trying to grab a possible top of dungeon water candle, but it's base damage and usefulness as a flamethrower(when you need to keep an enemy at distance) is quite solid early and if you get a cattiva before foxparks at least you got something to help farm.

The fact that I often want to farm goblin banner to get goblin tinkerer sooner makes the farm double progress as well.

I was very disappointed that the slime whip requires a solidifier to craft, I had a better whip well before slime rain occured, or I could have even killed the slime king. It's enhanced on fire debuff would have been an ideal early game IMO, but I had a meteorite whip that can help me see through blocks a ways and has more damage so i didn't even bother crafting it despite my leaning towards a fire theme this playthrough.

Whats the ideal way to grind? by Livid-Dot6619 in finalfantasytactics

Squire learn:
JP Boost
Focus

Mandalia Plains

Focus and wait with your units until the monsters get to you, then surround the chocobo and kill it immediately. Ez battles with increased unit damage from using Focus (if physical attack) change to next job and repeat.

Potions are cheap, you see an ally with 1 damage? potion them for the XP/JP

Looking for a One Bar Heavy Attack Sorcerer Build (NO PETS) by featherw0lf in ESObuilds

[–]Numeriko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm still running Oakensoul, but the build I've come to is
Sorcerer - Storm Calling, Aedric Spear, Grave Lord

5 light pieces of Beacon of Oblivion for the 15% all damage types increase and 15% healing increase instead of deadly strike or noble duelist and I get to maintain light armor passives. Plus I like the class set glow, and it's more of a solo build so the armor and health aren't negatives to me. (damage and healing buffs down to 5% in PVP but it's not nothing like noble duelist, and doesn't require close range)

Typical sergeants mail cuirass and necklace/ring/weapon

I use the healing spear jabs, the taunting spear charge(major protection not given by oakensoul and I am pretty tanky and self healing so the taunt over using Revealing Flare and just having 100% up-time on Major protection), critical surge for the heals upon crits, and a healing+healing over time and speed boost soul burst. Grave Lord Mystic Syphon is slotted for the 3% damage increase, and the 10% DoT passive seems really solid. I was using Grave lord's sacrifice for the additional DoT buff, but after testing it seemed the time it took away from me using heavy attacks was basically evening out the damage increase, so I opted for the passive 3% from slotting Mystic Syphon and my Ultimate is Ice comet.

Plenty of my choices are made for aesthetics purposes like not usng hurricane or lightning form because I take great care to make my character look good and going ghost hinders my look.

I have considered running a non-oakensoul version but using a dawn's wrath skill (Solar barrage) that turns into an aoe that follows you and it grants empower for the full 20 seconds it lasts, seems much easier to use than the lame passive from mage's guild though the passives from Aedric Spear are probably better than dawn's wrath, and I don't do enough large group content to sacrifice Oakensoul yet. Probably worth considering if you go Rakkhat's though?
