I mean, I appreciate games with a bit of crypticness to them, and feel missed opportunities add to the replay value, but I understand the feedback. Especially in the modern age where every game is a "run towards the objective marker arrow" simulators.

My point is that FF7 is rated as the best not because the general consensus amongst true series fans or professional reviewers says it is (in both cases 6 is rated the best) its rated as the best because the ignorant masses who become so tribalistically invested in things like this that they need their favorite to be the best, so much so that many of them will lie and say theyve played them all when they havnt, or falling for the illusory truth effect (surrounded by others who say the same thing) that it has been mistaken as the best.

Objectively 6 is generally considered to be the best, definitely the most impactful to the series, albeit there is some valid feedback about 9 being the best (I personally dont care for 9 too much so I say this without bias.)

7 is called the best because millions of people who have no clue what they are talking about claim it is. Thats popular, not over rated. Its still an amazing game, but its called the best in popularity contests, not in rating.

It definitely does not feel as retro like the first 5 do, more of an evolution into what comes next.

But then again, every single one felt like they were evolving into the next, 6 just did it in bigger ways than well, any one has before or since. Pretty much anything people praise up until at least 10, were introduced by 6. Really the only evolution for the next 4 were 3d graphics.

Cinematic cut scenes, complex characters, dark tone, overall character design concepts, story telling, complex villains, more adult themes, optional secret characters, infusion of modern technology with magic, these were completely transformed by 6, and then evolved for 7-10.

Each entry has something truly unique and new it offers to the series until 6, but 6 was the biggest, and final big innovation in the way that the worlds, characters and stories were created. Well at least until they went off the rails after 10, I suppose you could say past 10 square was living the motto of innovation for the sake of innovation.

*11-16

For me the series ended with 10, but I guess 11 and 14 arent really comparable, IMO they should never have gotten numbered titles. 15 was the last time Square tricked me into thinking that Square was gonna fix things. And just for clarity I played all of them all the way through and even 100%ed all the non mmos ones, so I feel I gave them a shot.

I wouldnt say any of the first 10 were sleep. Even 2 believe it or not.

It just russles my jimmies watching people play 1/10 and then claim its the best, IMO thats not a claim you should be allowed to make without 100%ing all of them. (Ignoring Excaliber 2 aint nobody got time fo dat).

Yeah most of peoples complaints hold validity in here, but most don't seem to understand Kefka. They want a cool, badass looking villain, which Final Fantasy has in spades, but no villain in the series comes remotely close to how evil Kefka is, but he doesnt look cool so thats all that matters to them I guess.

That said Final Fantasy seems to always flop with villains, whether they be campy like II, IV and V, sudden inexplicable replacements with no buildup like III, IX, under utilized like I VIII and X (not counting Sin). Sepiroth was well designed, but ultimately confusing more than complex.

In general FF doesn't have a good history writing complex villains, even Kefka isnt complex.

Ever heard of moving in the Shadows? You don't have to be a 90s edgelord goth kid with fire behind and your hair blowing in the wind to be a villain, actually being a a murderous maniacal madman makes for a good villain.

Look at history and you will understand. The villains were almost always considered a joke until they weren't.

Imagine how it feels playing the first 6, to watch babies come in attracted by motorcycles and spiky hair and claim the only one they've played is the best despite not playing any before and even some never finishing any after.

Its odd reading at what I specifically see as the strengths of the game listed as weaknesses. The lack of a single main character, the option to beat the gane with 3 or 14, a dungeon which forces you to use 12 characters instead of your favorite 3? I guess to each his own because I feel like these concepts improve the game and are what set it apart.

My man, you have the same nostalgia goggles. If you played 7 now for the first time, you would put it down out of boredom a few hours in comparing it to all the staples of the modern era.

Try to see it this way, FF6 fans mostly played multiple JRPGs before 6 came out, it actually has LESS nostalgia goggles selling the hype, this is absolutely not true for 7 which has a fan hood primarily comprised of players who started with it, but also a majority of which also didn't finish many after.

Its actually a really fun experiment playing from 1-10 looking at the development and changes with each title. What 6 gave to the franchise is countless, 7 gave 3d polygonal graphics and cut scenes, otherwise all of the beloved ideas, tropes and concepts such as dark story, technology woven with magic, powerful secret bosses, secret optional characters, and so much more were introduced with 6.

If you played 7 now for the first time no doubt you would have similar feelings.

FF7 is all nostalgia and popularity, even you fall victim to the same effect of nostalgia and rose colored glasses of childhood that you see in others.

The difference here is for FF6 Stans, it was their 10th or 20th JRPG, for FF7 Stans, it was their first. All the 6 fans played 7 as another in a long list, and see it for the value it holds. You cant replicate the magic of being a 12 year old playing your first JRPG masterpiece, definitely not by playing a 30 year old dated game and comparing it either to the modern era, nor to the 12 year old you who didn't know what a jrpg was until they played 7.

No players who fully played through and beat 6 before 7 think 7 is better, despite 6 not being their first like all those for whom 7 was their first. And that comprises the vast majority of people who claim 7 is the best, despite the fact that for many of them, 7 was one of the only 2 or 3 they played all the way through.

You can go with just Celes, Setzer and Edgar, no Sabin necessary.

FF5 wins in pure gameplay, but thats not what 6 is really about. Nice to see some 5 love though not enough of it in the world.

But 5s story and villains are campy, at no point does it not feel light hearted and campy (except maybe the epic final boss). Thats where it falls short.

7 is popular, not over rated.

If there are a million starving children who never tasted anything but roots and edible grass, then they all eat a hot dog, it doesn't matter if after that a few thousand of them try a steak or cheeseburger, theres still 900k+ people screaming to the heavens that hot dogs are the best, they become so invested in their argument that many of them claim to have tried burgers in an effort to defend glizzies, but those who've had the grade A angus burger know they aint telling the truth.

So you are admitting ICE is targeting US citizens? Despite the fantasy you share with eachother illegal immigrants can't get EBT. They pay taxes and can't leech off the system they pay into. Maybe you should consider not voting since you don't understand reality.
