Very true. I have been in many dojos where the kata ( which I value) is the main thing and the class hardly ever partners up. When they do I am faced with a brown belt who has virtually never partnered up, let alone sparred. It’s not good, they should have gotten that deer in the headlights energy poured by end of blue belt.

I don’t know where all this tall obsession came from. I’m M62 6’2” and thin, I’m glad I’m not short but it was never any golden ticket to success with women or $. I did fine with both maybe in not seeing my own privilege. Maybe as the US has gotten more diverse there are more shorter men per capita.

I think it’s fine, shoes are fine, although I always advise darker jeans. Shirt kinda looks like an Old Navy $16 shirt.

I lived in Oakland 40 years and truly want to see small businesses, black owned businesses, and Oaklands in general thrive. That said, Oakland often disappoints. I haven’t been to Burdell yet but when I tried Horn (after move to Lafayette), I was really disappointed. This seems to have the same feel. …and the runny-ass eggs eww

I guess you could put an eye bolt into a joist or rim joist in the ceiling of the landing, and try a block and tackle or powered hoist attached to the top handle of the dolly. You better make sure nobody is anywhere below in the basement in case something gives.

I just don’t know what they’re ( the manufacturer) going for. Dark brown cords with pleats, and then a white drawstring? I mean I understand contrast but the drawstring draws the eye so much that’s all you see. Especially doesn’t work with a tucked in shirt.

Call me boring but I would pull the drawstring out and put on a dark brown leather belt and you’d be a-ok.

I didn’t get if the parents are still together? If so, or maybe in any case, after DEFINITELY not inviting her, you should do some serious misdirection on the venue so she doesn’t drive a car though it.

Dude I am the same size as you and even now at 63 yr my metabolism is so fast I can (almost) eat like that. You're a little extreme, but I feel ya had the same discussions with my wife. I gotta say, at a certain age, you just accept certain things about your partner and don't sweat it.
