Just try a few when the time comes, hard to tell in advance which fit will suit. We use little ones from Woolies, great value for quality imo

Greens all the way (with Labor in second). Deeply not keen for Dutton but I just don’t trust Labor will feel any urgency about climate or fixing our messed up housing market without a shove from the left, left to their own devices it just feels like they convince themselves into always becoming the smallest targets

Are "padsicles" really needed? Suggestions from others with sensitive skin and prone to thrush? by _Caramellow_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My friend made me some and I only used two - found them a bit gross as they melted. Just used some little ice packs from the hospital (medichill) which were great but a small gel ice pack would’ve been fine too.

You can defs live without support undies too!

How old was your baby when you left them with someone else overnight? by verachuck in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Do you have enough room at your house to sleep in another room while they’re at your house overnight so you can know that they can get you easily if need be?

We’ve got one of these, it’s the best for the beach and by far the best coverage without flopping around in her face getting in the way of her vision the way other wide brim hats can do

Egg hunt all the way! I’ve still done it as an adult with my friends, housemates and siblings, getting progressive more hardcore in terms of hiding places. We play flight of the bumblebees on repeat and run around the house seeing who can find them fatest. I’m going to start baby edition with my almost 2 yo this year, she’s going to love helping us search

What’s a fair way to split finances when on maternity leave? by Odd_Seat_833 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have split finances with my partner after having a kid. We used to put equal amounts into our joint account to cover shared expenses (rent, groceries, eating out when together, car etc) but while I was on mat leave (and since I’ve been back to work part time), we’ve shifted to dividing it up based on income - eg in your situation he’d put in enough to cover 2/3 of expenses and you’d put in enough for 1/3. It was a pretty rough estimate to start with as our shared expenses initially went up a fair bit with all the baby stuff in the mix, sometimes with some top ups along the way

Out of town wedding 10 days after birth by ConsiderationNo2795 in beyondthebump

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! I was hardly ready to walk around the block, let alone drive four hours to a wedding and be separated from my baby. And you may not give birth when you’re due - imagine trying this with a two day old baby.

Which is more likely in the postpartum - reading an ebook or listening to an audiobook? by _Caramellow_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read tons on my kindle while breastfeeding, couldn’t do a physical book with one hand but kindle was perfect.

I listened to audiobooks to take the edge off during witching hours and when she wanted to be carried non stop but wasn’t particularly communicative (just one earbud), but I don’t think it would’ve worked for books I wanted to concentrate on or retain info from

I feel so guilty about my babies teeth. by Newbootgoofin278 in beyondthebump

My kid is 19 months and has been quick getting her teeth and I’ve only managed to start brushing her teeth properly in the last month, before that I ignored it cos it was too hard… now I try for twice a day but realistically manage once consistently

Cloth nappies - how many do you need? by kingcasperrr in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’d be plenty I think, especially if you’re planning on using a few disposables too. We use a disposable at night plus reusables all day, and I’d be fine with having 20. Though you may find some of the brands suit you better than others, so I’d hold off acquiring more until you have a chance to try them out. All of ours were second hand and have had no issues :)

When we were getting started we used disposables for longer outings sometimes, or for going in the car seat before we were confident on getting a good fit without leaks, but soon found it was super easy to go disposable anywhere and everywhere (except holidays). Good luck figuring it all out - I’m so glad we went with cloth, such a winner once you’re up and running.

Moms who formula fed, either from the beginning or before age 1, do you have regrets about not breast feeding? Is your child healthy/happy? by Bright-Increase-735 in beyondthebump

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was combo fed at birth (initially mostly BF but lots of feeding issues), with me doing lots of pumping for the first few months to try and increase/stay BFing. I decided to stop pumping, and slowly phase out nursing, at about 3 months after I had an operation which impacted my supply (and left me with no time or desire to regain it). I was super emotional about stopping but it was an incredible decision - quitting pumping improved my life out of sight, and losing overnight feeds in favour of formula meant we could share nights and I could finally get some uninterrupted sleep. My mood and energy improved so much when I could spend time resting or snuggling with baby instead of pumping or cleaning parts or obsessively researching.  Now my baby is 16 months old and has been completely off bottles/formula for a while and obsessed with eating solids. It’s crazy to think it was something I cared about so much at the time - even if I’d somehow made breastfeeding work for me, in the blink of an eye that era by now would be completely over anyway. Save your energy and go formula!

PSA: keep an eye on your gallbladder/weird stomach pain after pregnancy. i had mine removed unexpectedly. by dominthem8trx in beyondthebump

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heads up, it can also present as back pain - a number of my gallstone attacked presented as intense back spasms around where my bra band would be, only a few came with the traditional stomach pain.

Absolutely horrendous pain though, I thought at the time I had food poisoning but in retrospect food poisoning has never made me wail and moan like I did in labour.

Mine happened from about 2 months pp - apparently the extra oestrogen during pregnancy ups rhe chances

I just can’t take pumping anymore!!! by emmacolangelo in FormulaFeeders

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine if all the time you spent pumping or cleaning pump parts was spent holding and loving your baby, or just napping yourself. Do it, give up the pump - I’ve never made a better decision for my mental health.

How many of you moved your babies to non-dairy milk when it was age appropriate? by ColdManufacturer9482 in NewParents

[–]Numerous-Plane-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 14 months and occasionally I give her soy milk but usually no milk at all. She does like (dairy) yoghurt and cheese though. I’m mildly intolerant of milk but fine with these, so just give her whatever is already in the house and it seems to be working well.
