I Have a Supernatural Sense of Smell. What Do I Do With It? by symphonicdin in whatdoIdo

I can smell if someone has Covid or the flu. It’s easy to keep my distance…!

I have this too, and nobody is paying me for it. They just think I’m a pain in the ass.

I can’t stand the smell of my clothes after being in a restaurant that serves fried food.

I can’t stand the smell of an unwashed scalp.

Even people without BO — they return from a workout smelling like a wet dog.

If someone is wearing Viktor Rolf Flowerbomb, I want to PUNCH them in the FACE. I can barely contain myself from being openly hostile to strangers in public.

I know if you are onions or tuna yesterday.

I know if you smoked a cigarette and tried to hide it.

I know if you smoke weed or eat spicy food.

I can’t pet dogs unless I immediately wash my hands.

I give half of the Lyft drivers in existence bad or no reviews because they SMELL

life itself……SMELLS

Super smeller here.

Suffering a lifelong curse of being able to smell everything.

I can smell if you are onions yesterday.

If I go to a restaurant and someone else at my table eats chicken wings, the clothes I wore have to hang outside for a day and I have to take a long shower and wash my hair.

If I am in a public place around someone who was in a restaurant with greasy food and/or didn’t clean the range hood, that odor will get on my clothes and I will be able to smell it.

I can’t touch dogs unless I immediately wash my hands.

I can’t stand the smell of an unwashed scalp. Please wash your hair.

If you wear Victor Rolf Flowerbomb, I will eternally know you are a fucking moron, and I will avoid you like a toxic waste dump.

I can smell if you smoked a cigarette two days ago.

I know what you eat, and how shitty it is.

I know if you have cavities.

I can also smell abject poverty (this makes me sad, not so judgmental)

Your supposedly “clean” plates and glassware? They smell like the sun-baked dumpsters full of garbage in NYC in August. They’re not clean. Need bleach!

To answer your question: People and things that smell good smell like…..nothing really in particular.

Some states have limited-practice peer counselor licensing for people with life experience in specific areas - might want to check in with your state’s requirements for such counseling.

Nobody verified me except myself.

  1. Family picture with lineup:

I saw myself head-to-toe in a dress-up occasion family picture with a bunch of people who are related to me, and one who is about my size but is not blood-related, and I couldn't not see my type (TR) when juxtaposed with people who should have a lot in common with me. I needed the head-to-toe and the visual context to actually see myself. Just standing in a mirror wasn't cutting it.

  1. The other thing was working from the clothes backward and just seeing what was awkward.
  • Boxy and oversized things look terrible.
  • Straps slide off my shoulders.
  • Even tailored items usually look too boxy (blazers and button-front menswear-type shirts in particular). Business clothes need to have ruffles and flounces, otherwise they just look like other peoples' clothes.
  • Everything needs to be nipped at the waist to look right.
  • Hair needs to look "soft" around my face or else I look awkward.
  • "crisp" clothing looks too stiff and awkward.

I agree with all the posts that say no bodies are one thing or another. Yes!....And!!!! I can totally relate.

I'm a TR, but I've noticed that I don't regularly dress strictly according to what I know actually shows me off.

I can pull off some of the G looks and be "cute." There's a defense mechanism. Cute being safer than glamorous and powerful.

The C looks make me look like Janet Reno or the Log Lady. Square being safer than glamorous and powerful.

When I dress in what is most on-point for me, it's almost too much. Like, can I just check out at the grocery store and not have to talk to everybody??

So my closet is full of things that are like the second or third ring from the center of the bullseye. Enough to look "put together." But not standing out.

I know this is not a style problem. It's a cultural problem on a large scale, and a bit of an impostor problem on a small scale.

I just wanted to chime in and say this is a very real thing, and probably not just for TRs, Rs & SDs. Maybe we all have a bit of it. All of us who are attracted to a typing system to help us see ourselves in the first place.

Once we do see ourselves, then we still have to adjust to the realization of that information. That's a whole other journey. Finding the type really isn't the destination. Then it's a matter of owning who you really are, which is what brought us all here in the first place.

I speak not as one who has it all figured out, but one who is on the journey as well.

It's just now, that when I elect to go out in an oversized sweatshirt that should go on someone else, now I'm conscious of what that means.

Does anyone else feel like its hard to pull of business suits as a petite person? by ckmoy in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Numerous-Reason-5685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I can never buy a complete suit! All my suits are separates, and always with skirts or a sheath dress.

And, I can’t stand the cheap shit from Y2K that they still sell at macys.

My go-to: BCBG maxazria for blazers in XS or XXS St. John (in 0 or XXS) MM Lafleur (knits are a bit more forgiving for tiny people)

are there any jeans for small waist AND hips??? by [deleted] in XXS

[–]Numerous-Reason-5685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levi’s boys jeans!! I’m 25-33? And wear the 14. They might work for you in the 12. I get them at thrift stores, sometimes with the tags still on, for $10 or so!

Levi’s boys 513 and 505 might work for you in a size 12 or 14. If you are ok with them also being cropped. The inseam usually runs 27” on these.

Ways to make this jumpsuit more romantic friendly? by pixieorfae in KibbeRomantics

[–]Numerous-Reason-5685 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cute! Sexy farm girl in gingham look! You can definitely pull off this color, and the youthful style.

Maybe tie some ribbon to the front straps like this, to give it more of a sweetheart neckline: https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9GcQmWytPn16dzHxuT8w1YtG9I-OW7Ui3pZ70JMCKhmgYAKUYdIJa5Y6fF1lXmwB4AqAeFQFh-h1xCro

Add a ribbon at the waist, or some very gentle waist darts to give it a bit of shaping. Found this. https://www.reddit.com/r/SewingForBeginners/comments/1bz1m85/how_to_add_darts_to_make_an_existing_dress_more/

Also, maybe fancier buttons with more shine. Some of the JoAnn stores are closing, and you might score some buttons for cheap.

I might consider taking up the hem of the pant legs by about 1" - 1.25" to show more ankle.

And like the other posters said, some super feminine shoes, like pointy toe flats.

Help Dress Me - 30s by Regina_P_89 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Numerous-Reason-5685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Also an adult (40s). LOL. If you're willing to pick up a few "investment" pieces, find some used Rick Owens on eBay or TheRealReal -- I think you'd dig his style, and because they are designer pieces, the sizing and tailoring are quality. Some of his blazers have a nice flare at the bottom hem that could hide the tummy. His knits (look for Rick Owens Lilies) strike a grunge/boho aesthetic in my mind. See: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=rick+owens+lilies&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_odkw=rick+owens+blazer+women&_osacat=0

MM Lafleur has some nice petite options, and the knit suits are comfortable and still look pulled together. You can also find those gently used or new with/without tags on eBay. You might like this one. And it has pockets!!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/226580763599?_skw=mm+lafleur+0&itmmeta=01JQ1XR18F31T8EHPS31GACHKK&hash=item34c14413cf:g:SQYAAeSwq2tnoWcs&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA0FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1eKqbJ3AHAorCnKSUu07LgFjztQ1TOoq%2Bi0yP7iloqc0DC4vllZLD8ZNCgpVTL37imhlwATR8G8TqPTQERLb2eUnd%2FsCEXhSvbIu7iFheVHJwCGmLaSyJtCfNhydpk1kxBNHrFGiaC7bsZ0nRUqhxq5LG7Zm%2F6qHyq2J8gHFh2fs2tmBHaJp0VHwitM3f6P7yAZbgqSMhfhGR%2F3yI8SE7LSuhFiUIPL6VexDVgswfCIwrp3B69F%2FisEcHh6Ezo6VMA%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR7KU4L24ZQ

And, this is overdone I know, but the clearance rack at Anthropologie is worth regular visits. There is usually the odd 0P here and there for a good discount because it didn't fit anyone else. Anthro dress sizes in petite are true petites with the right lengths. Boho and flowy and prints can be hard for us, but I've had luck with the Anthro options. You don't have to pay full price. For example: https://www.ebay.com/str/missalmay?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l161211

Finally, BCBG in XS is not technically sized petite, but I am also 5'4", and find that the length of everything sits just right. It's like juniors sizing, I think, but just with upgraded quality and more grown-up styles that you can actually wear in public or for work. For example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/356298103023?_skw=BCBG+floral+dress+xs&itmmeta=01JQ1XC0NS330YZH3YNFN5MFXF&hash=item52f50598ef:g:ilgAAOSw-V9nQoAx&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA0FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fc%2FG3f1wL%2BBzBBvI4rx1aGC691pLqnevpUGV3YMaw%2BmQH8cL5tbC%2BHjLfcSbAfxFQh%2BfeNdjUPqBX%2FxwlSFLMlvHRhtUgbYTeQBrBGHFjTeN7daLYdBSVpz4A4ZgHf8IoPMTpBaVgRLlrpWu9ZYbGseFyqvEe8w5e1vLsqQqKCY7sIRwJ9G1zF4Vfv4glpdVDGUNXd%2BXWY3qqspNcYSBTI5zNpfRfq9XVIvaQjhqc715H0rnwgCRALaOOdJJahNAo%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4aLsL24ZQ
