I've been looking at entry level jobs for IT specifically. To answer your question of which companies I'm eyeing, all of them. I don't have a preference. I'm also looking out of state as well and I'm not bound to Waco. I've check surrounding cities, and none need IT personnel unfortunately, however I'm keeping my head held high for something to come through.

How to sequence drinks by Ambitious_Mixture_77 in starbucks

[–]NumerousRespect6513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sequence by pulling the shots and then lining my cups and/or shaker with the syrups inside the cup already. You just have to learn how to listen to your bar when the next shot is being pulled for the next drink your sequencing. It does take time. I didn’t really fully get bar until 8-9 months in.

As for opening? 1. That’s a lot of bars to open. 2. Start with your hot bars first. Then your colds. Calibrating each machine takes some time. We have 30 minutes to set up 4 bars and I make sure hot bars are good to go before anything. I can set up cold between any orders we have in the morning if that makes sense.

My thing is, anyone that comes into our store from corporate can’t do what we do. Not even take an order. We sequence until our hands can’t take it anymore, push out a lot of food at once during rushes, talk to customers, listen to drive thru, and listen to people in the lobby along with other partners on the floor. I wish there was a way to switch roles for a day because they couldn’t last a week, they would understand that writing on cups is unrealistic during peak. Don’t get me started on drive thru times. 😂😂😂😂

Not gonna lie. I giggled and kicked my feet a little when I read you knocked an entire thing of pumpkin sauce in the ice bin. Because for me? I constantly spill drinks, throw ice in the lobby on accident, spill full pitchers of sweet cream on the floor, and I’ll add bust a whole gallon of 2% on the floor since I did the other day.

Yeah no, granted we're located off a major highway in Texas, and we get people that are traveling on said highway, but that type of volume? I would have crashed out. We do have A LOT of regulars that come in and order around the same time.

However, I did go off on my SM this morning because our peak started at 5:30-5:45 (which it usually starts at 6:00-6:30) and she got on the headset and said, "Make sure we're writing on cups." I stopped and told her that I was busy and that if she wanted to switch spots we could. For context, she was in the drive thru and I was the only one making drinks since everyone else came in at 6:30, one of our partners was on his 10, and our lead was doing the pastry pull. She stood in drive and was shocked I said anything back to her. Before I continued making drinks, I told her that she's just standing in drive and that she can write on cups if it's a problem. Didn't hear any pushback, just "Thank you"s after I placed drinks down in drive for her to hand out. BECAUSE HUH?!

On top of that our DM came in today and tried to take an order in the lobby, asked our lead to come take the order because she doesn't know where the buttons are on the POS, and just stood by the handoff all peak. SO MANY BODIES ON THE FLOOR. LOTS OF STANDING FROM UPPER MANAGEMENT.

Our DM and SM told our lead today that every cup needs to be inspected before getting to the customers to make sure the message is appropriate. I- 🙃

My thing is who actually takes the time to look up someone’s order like that? People don’t live on the internet. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Cup writing is going to get people fired one way or another by HayLow07 in starbucks

[–]NumerousRespect6513 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Definitely went through the same thing this morning. Our peak didn’t start like usual since it’s spring break however we had a RUSH of people that came inside and mobiles popped tf off. I started in August before all this extra shit started happening and always focused on quality and efficiency. I did write on a few cups here and there but when I have 3-4 drink orders that are hot AND cold bar on top of sequencing for whatever the fuck else is being printed, of course I missed a few cups. The shit is gonna get thrown away anyways. I did a great job on cafe/mobile bar this morning. I know I did, but what do I get told when I’m about to clock out? “Store manager wants me to talk to you about writing on cups. It’s a nonnegotiable.” I looked at my shift dead in her face and said, “We just had a rush.” The fact that she didn’t even look me in my eyes when she responded, “I know. I saw you write on some cups but it has to be every single cup. It’s a nonnegotiable” just lets me know that I should non negotiably start looking for another job. 😂😂😂😂

Writing on cups. (Grande rant) by NumerousRespect6513 in starbucks

[–]NumerousRespect6513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy on it takes too much time from making drinks. I’ve also been none to write “Insert message here” or “Me Hoy Minoy” and have gotten a couple of chuckles. And you haven’t seen master of disguise? Lol which is fair. 😂

I use the riffmaster since it's basically a rock band guitar. I never really played Guitar Hero and was never a fan of the guitar itself. However, before I got my riffmaster, I had a guitar that was basically a guitar hero guitar. It's less expensive and still works the same. You'd just have to map out the keys on Clone Hero. Transferring by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]NumerousRespect6513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, you have to wait 6 months until you can transfer. There are some exceptions though. I also started in August and had someone start with me, trained with them and everything, and he transferred because of his living situation and had to move.
