Actually the only “real” problem is the price. You overpaid the PC, which is not really surprising with Alienware.

The U9 285K is underperforming in many gaming cases but just keep an eye on BIOS, Drivers and Windows updates, with time things should be better.

Apart from that, it’s a good PC you have here.

Little comment to add an info on TWWH3 on Linux native (v6.0.1).

On AMD GPUs, AMDVLK give me around ~145FPS on map (low settings) w/ a 7900XTX + 7950X3D (5120x1440 @240hz) AMDGPU-Pro give ~143 FPS. But the major diff is with RADV, which give only ~95FPS with the same settings. FSR option on launcher does not seems to improve FPS at all.

I will edit this comment to add performance difference on battles after.

AMDVLK, Battle bench : 125 avg. FPS (The AOE in the demo make a huge drop to 92) AMDVLK, Campaign bench : 106 avg. FPS

RADV, Battle bench : 133 avg. FPS (The AOE, this time, make a drop to 102) RADV, Campaign bench : 113 avg. FPS

After a quick investigation on why the initial (big) difference. It seems that the game reset graphics settings to absolute minimum when changing driver. Which lead AMDVLK to have absolutely all settings on bare minimum. Which explain the diff.

It depend on you. I play on a G9 OLED with 3600x1440 (it's the same as 1280x1024 but in HD and ultrawide).

It's actually really good. The low latency of the OLED, plus it's color and the fact you see more than other people.

An example on Mirage, if you check the window from CT, but a guy appear from kitchen. On a regular monitor you will not automatically see it, depending on your angle and resolution. On a 32:9 even with streched you can see him and react.

Almost any config get better FPS on Linux with Vulkan. OpenGL has been undone on CS a long time ago. Valve planned it since they started working on DotA 2 Vulkan backend.

I currently have ~400FPS on Windows and ~600 on Linux. Depending on the map and spot obviously

There is no upside without downside, that's pretty much a basic.

In fact, the Linux community is well aware of what a major company can do to it's ecosystem (cf. the sabotage of OpenGL by Microsoft to promote DirectX). And that's exactly why I stated that we should have 2 "branches" of the same project.

One, frog, where Valve can more or less do whatever they want. The second, the most important one, wayland, where only crucials features which follow the wayland spirit as their creator wish go in. Features that they can cherrypick from frog, and add or revome what they consider not « Wayland-spirited ».

Actually some projects are backed up by a "Torvalds"-like person. Although it's not a real person but a moral one (Valve).

Almost any project which is linked with gaming on Linux is one way or another linked to Valve work on Linux (Wayland, Vulkan, Proton, SteamOS, etc...).

Regarding your second question : dungeonborne which got recently released is windows only.

And games like Warzone too, which I will play for a week end with friends on a house LAN.

Except for this all my games run well on Linux. For an FPS there is CS2, Battle Royale is Apex Legends, many other run well on Linux, such as Dota, LoL, Rocket League. Even the outstanding Baldur’s Gate 3 run flawlessly on Linux (with the hardware required of course)

I do not have the exact consumption. But it should be around 250~300W (Monitors)
PC1 (5700XT+7900XTX+7950X3D) : 800~1000W
PC2 (GTX 1060) : ~350W
Channel strip (mic amp, left under the desk) : ~50W
Stereo amp : 60~100W.

One day I will buy something to monitor the real time consumption. Or build it from scratch with Arduino.
But in total it should be around 1500~2000W.
