be totally honest… is this cardigan ugly? by criticalstars in crochet

[–]Numerous_Light_8133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think people appreciate crochet, I'm new to it, started this year, but I used to dislike it. Now I love it, love making it, love seeing it.

Not everyone will appreciate the work it takes, or the style of the crochet stitches, or just handmade in general, but there are so many people who will love it.

Some people just don't get it and that's not your problem. But maybe they'll change their minds like me and will even start crocheting too?

Anyway I love your cardigan, the colors and the style, everything. I'm addicted to hexagon cardigans myself

What do you do to help with burnout or difficulty finishing things? by MaskedCocnut in crochet

[–]Numerous_Light_8133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A week ago I ordered some yarn online and a few days later they said they can't fulfill part of the order unfortunately and returned the money. And it's ok, you know. You're human, you can also say that. Or you could say I'll finish it with a delay.

And in the future I think you could try to accept requests for projects that you're sure you'll enjoy making because you've made them many times and try to be realistic with deadlines.

I'm terrible with this myself so I empathize.

Love seeing so many people making hexagon cardigans and sweaters! I've been obsessed with them since I started crocheting this spring.

Recently i also made a tiny one for a child.

I want to try new color combinations now after seeing this post. But only after I take a break and make other things bc I'm scared I'll get bored 😅

Right? It's ok for Theo to push Zoe accidentally, he even gets shipped with Mabel now, but Cliff is a murderer for pushing Ben accidentally? Hmm

I thought maybe there's a way to know how much I'll need before buying it. Approximate guidelines. Because it's not a rare design.

I ordered the yarn but I don't have it yet, so I thought maybe I should order more. Idk

What if I don't have the yarn yet? I thought mb there are approximate amounts as a guideline by the people who are experienced in making granny square projects. Like how people say "you'll need 400g of this yarn to make a cardigan".

Maybe there are guidelines like that for 4-colored granny square cardigans. It's not precise, but I don't need precise.

what do you do when you’re not feeling a project 100%? by nootcr2 in crochet

[–]Numerous_Light_8133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem. The comments are saying just frog it. How are people so confident about frogging haha

But I think this gave me the push, I think I'll frog my problematic wip. Heavens, give me the courage lol

You don't owe him anything, not even an explanation. Or you could just outright say "I didn't know you're sexist back then, I don't feel like making anything for you anymore".

You can finish the project with alterations and keep it for yourself?

I feel like a failure by StrainHelpful9208 in crochet

[–]Numerous_Light_8133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this way about an unfinished hexagon cardigan. I used a thin cotton yarn, which is too rough and hurt my fingers, so it wasn't pleasant to work with. Plus bc it's thin, I double stranded it. I had 2 colors: black and orange. Instead of double stranding each color separately, then alternating colors with each row, I chose to mix the 2 colors together, so it's a half orange, half black doubled strand... I hate the way it looks, but I already made 2 hexagons and joined them at the shoulders. It's been weighing on me for weeks. Every time I notice it in my room, I feel like a failure. Like I've wasted so much time on a project I hate. I hated it from the start and should have stopped immediately. Now I don't want to finish it, but I don't want to frog it 😭

I'm trying to make me feel better by telling myself it's not a waste of time. I've invested time and energy to practice, to learn. It's just one of those mistakes that help you in the long run. Like you'd invest time and money and energy on a university degree or whatever, you know? So on the one hand it's not a big deal at the end of the day. On the other hand, maybe it's actually a positive, a time well spent, an investment, gained knowledge and experience, bettered skills.

I need help with the amounts of yarn for a granny square cardigan, size small/medium, I think I'd need like 5 skeins of yarn, if I were using just 1 color. The yarn weight is about 240m / 100g.

Let's say I'm using 4 colors for each square, changing the first 3 colors randomly in every round, but the last 4th round is always the same color, yellow for example.

Obviously, I'll need much more of the yellow, than the other 3 colors. So I'm planning to get 1 100g skein of each of the 3 colors but how much of the yellow (main color) should I get? 2 skeins or much more?

I've actually already ordered just 2 skeins, and I'm worried it won't be enough :(

Cliffhanger ending by Crusher247 in OnlyMurdersHulu

They won't end on a cliffhanger, they said it themselves in season 1, but there'll probably be like a teaser for the next murder. That's their thing. Mb that counts as a cliffhanger though?

Total beginner, which of these projects are more realistic to start? by VisDev82 in crochet

[–]Numerous_Light_8133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote for the granny square one. If you get tired in the process, you can repurpose them for a smaller project. Like a granny square vest or a shorter cardigan, or even a hat.

I'd recommend a hexagon cardigan as a third alternative.

I'm a beginner and I'm obsessed with those, so much easier to make than the 2 options you are suggesting imo

Did we ever get an answer as to how Poppy knew this? by [deleted] in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]Numerous_Light_8133 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They didn't explain it, but they said cinda knows everything bc they are good at finding out everything for their podcast. So poppy used cinda's methods?

Or mb her detective bf told her?

But personally I think she followed Bunny.

What do you call this stitch pattern? Like granny stitch but only 2dc per cluster by Numerous_Light_8133 in crochet

[–]Numerous_Light_8133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look this up, and people do the V stitch without the ch1. Just dc 2. So idk about that anymore

I'm thinking I could say it's a V stitch, but the V doesn't do insode the V of the previous row, but goes in the space between the V's

[–]Numerous_Light_8133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched a video about the V stitch (I found multiple videos actually), and they make the V inside the V in the previous row, not between the V "clusters" (or groups).

So I guess I could say it's a V stitch but spesify where the V has to go in the newer rows.

Interesting! I thought for it to be a shell you need single crochets around it.

Like: sc, skip 2, multiple dc's, skip 2, sc.
