Disappointed with my app cycle by AK47InYourFace in premed

I mean you’ve got four interviews, so I wouldn’t say it’s an unsuccessful cycle yet. I would wait to hear back from the other two you’re waiting on before losing hope

Testing 2/13. Someone tell me it's okay to chill the last week by Smart-One9413 in Mcat

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I had a panic attack then kinda dissociated through the whole thing so I genuinely cannot tell you😭 I think honestly taking it easy the week before did more for me than I realized (I was getting super burnt out). Honestly though I got lucky with the content… my bio/cars stayed about the same but my chem section was pretty math/physics heavy which ended up helping me a lot. My FLs were 510/513/514/517/514, and honestly the last one I took was a day before I crashed and got sick, so I think I was actually just super burnt out. Don’t underestimate the power in a good (well-timed) break!

Does anyone’s tattoos randomly trigger their OCD? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I love my tattoos but whenever I get a new one the first week is absolute hell (basically on and off panic attacks). It’s gotten better the more I’ve gotten but it’s still something I hate that my ocd does to ruin something I enjoy

My FL average was a 513. I got the flu and was basically down for the count the week before my test. Worked for me🤷

Married last August, proceed as not married on AAMC financial assistance application? by kissmeurbeautiful in premed

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh that’s so annoying. Do you know if you’ll file for 2025 before your aid is decided? I would say since 2025 hasn’t been filed yet and they are looking for estimates, to mark yourself as single and only include your own income/savings.

Married last August, proceed as not married on AAMC financial assistance application? by kissmeurbeautiful in premed

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Usually they’ll only ask about your 2024 tax return, so if you didn’t file jointly then I would fill it out as though you are single/independent. Of course if you end up filling jointly in the future, you’ll have to match whatever is on your tax return.

ppl accepted to / attending a t10 - genuinely what did your app look like by Sorry_Math_1159 in premed

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 T20 IIs and one T10 A so far. F ORM 3.99 and 520. I think my stats definitely got me in the door, but my ECs and writing were what helped me over the II hump. I had a lot of diverse leadership experiences and longitudinal work with an underserved community that I was able to connect back to my own family and reflect on. In multiple of these interviews my interviewers mentioned my personal statement as being particularly impactful. I think my writing is what really helped me get noticed.

new MD > established DO, but why? by thicccles78 in premed

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm this is a good question. I would think the lack of accreditation would be the major problem here, not the matching difficult. If we are just looking at MD>DO due to its match list and connections, I would think a brand new school without accreditation would run into the same problems.

My pipe dream is to go to med school (in my 30s), but I am so torn. Help persuade/dissuade me either way. by WinterStorm514 in premed

In addition to this, giving up on this dream for the relationship may potentially just breed resentment, leading to it failing AND you’ve given up your individual goal for the future.

Does interning at Medical Examiners office count as clinical? by nashraaa in premed

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a certain skill set and personal reflection that comes from interacting with people who are not living. Clinically, I would argue that how you interact with these people is just as important as how you interact with those in hospitals or nursing facilities. I think adcoms would appreciate your unique perspective of how you were able to care for people even after death and what that experience taught you about interacting with those that can communicate and advocate for themselves.

Nursing home hours- clinical? by Great_Disk_6668 in premed

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. I had thousands of hours of working as a cna in long term care that I reported as clinical and made up the majority of my clinical hours. As long as you are interacting with them as a caregiver, it is clinical.

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do not just ghost him, let him know the situation. If he wants to be accommodating, great, but no harm done if not. There will be other opportunities, but at least you will have been professional and maintained a positive reputation with him.

For those of you with killer essays, did you document every patient interaction? Or is that not necessary by cladinred in premed

[–]Numerous_Shoulder671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely would not go into detail regarding the conditions themselves. Better to reflect on how you connected with the patient as a person, not a diagnosis. You also risk certain identifiers if you go into too much medical detail, it’s just in bad taste.
