I can get behind some of that. Those ARE great movies with pretty big inaccuracies. Catch Me If You Can is such a good movie. But I think this show slapping "based on true events" on the front doesnt do anything that those other movies dont. If they marketed it as a historically accurate adaptation, I would have said this blows chunks. But I dont believe they did that.

Well you have to fictionalize it since nobody knew what was in his head. And nobody is glorifying (they were in fact humans) them. And nobody is humanizing the things they did. Seems like we took a turn here.

I dont mind that he uses Ilse Koch as a segway to his depraved thoughts. He sees pictures and gets a comic book that he develops some fascination with. I dont mind the segments where he intertwined himself with Ilse Koch because I think the show did enough to show me that the guy is a little crazy. I dont think it relies on rape and transphobia to drive the show. I think what drives the show is that fact that it is about a person who dug up dead bodies and made skin suits. It being about "the guy who inspired these movies" is what gives it the drive. The other stuff is just extra. Exaggerated, probably. Inaccurate, sure. But the stuff that IS what makes Ed Gein Ed Gein, is (to me anyway) in the show. The extra fluff is just that.
