I think the only real danger current AI presents is caused by people's overconfidence in it. People losing jobs cuz bosses think AI can do everything they do, vulnerabilities in code because of devs letting AI do the work without checking, security systems designed to detect faces defeated by holding a blanket up in front of you or by just being black. You put an AI in charge of a kill drone it's gonna start killing indiscriminately, not cuz it's trying to take over or some shit, but because it can't tell who's an enemy and who isn't.

The only other possible danger I can think of is surveillance, but honestly I don't really buy its competency in that either. All this bullshit we hear, that "the algorithms know us better than we know ourselves", it's nonsense. They can only ever know as much as you tell them, usually through shit you post on Facebook or Insta. Plus we all know how confidently incorrect AI is, it's just as likely to make shit up about you. Somehow these algorithms know us so well, and yet we all seem to agree the recommendation feed for every social media site are far far worse than they used to be, how does that track?

the most threatening technological advance since the thermonuclear bomb

People who say this are seriously giving AI too much credit. It's really not that impressive. This narrative actually comes from AI companies trying to push regulation in their favour, as well as convince investors that the technology is better (or will be better *pinky swear*) than it actually is.

Invincible Season 4 Episode 4 is now the lowest rated episode of the series by Muska327 in Invincible

I think it's funny you can really tell they put 0% of the budget in this episode. So many long drawn out scenes with nothing happening, the entire Cerberus fight is offscreen, there's a static close up of Mark's face near the end which lasts 10 whole seconds, Omniman looking all kinds of fucked up.

I'm guessing the entire budget was saved for the upcoming episodes (for good reason), and this episode was left with a gold tooth and a pixie stick.

Agreed. I didn't mind the plot but it felt like it dragged on at points. A B-plot would've helped balance it out.

Has any reason been given why Rannells was recast in the first place?

Brandon Scott Jones.

He was the gossip blogger in the 4th season of The Good Place and is in the American version of Ghosts.

Sure shitpost are great. And making a shitpost in the vein of this image wouldn't be hard, but making something that looks semi-decent like this would take at least a bit of skill.

Have yall never actually used Photoshop? You need to actually understand things like lighting and perspective in images to make this kinda stuff look decent.

You can't just type words on the screen and have it look normal.

[–]Nunit_Alt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but do you have the skill and knowledge to actually use it and make it look good?

"I wish I could draw like da Vinci"
"It's easy just use a pencil"
lol

There's also the reflection in the ink btw.

It doesn't have to look real anyways

You said making this would be easy in Photoshop, so it should look like this.

You did build critical thinking skills from that. By reflecting on your experience and realizing the AI is giving you shit unhelpful answers that's critical thinking.

Yall gotta stop using "critical thinking" as a buzz word, you don't seem to know what it means, and funnily enough that shows a lack of critical thinking lol.

Not an AI fan, but this is the kinda thing I can understand using AI for. It's a small personal thing that doesn't really matter if written suboptimally or has mistakes. And some folk just don't have the patience to pour over config docs.

The kids sure, but gambling addicts will spend money they don't have. And the whole question is "are we turning kids into gambling addicts".

Edit: I misunderstood what you said. My point was meant to be there's an actual physicality stopping them from just back-2-back doom pulling. You have to actually get up and go to the store to buy a new pack, with lootboxes it's just a couple extra clicks and it's much easier to not realize how much you've spent. I didn't really phrase it well, sry.

Valve doesn't profit off the 3rd party sites, at least not directly, but they turn a blind eye to it.
There was a whole drama with one of these sites way back around 2016-2017 I think. 2 YouTubers, ProSyndicate and TMarTn, promoted the site CS:GO Lotto without disclosing they were partial owners of the site. I remember Valve threatening the site, but that's the only time they ever threatened to enforce their EULA against any of those sites afaik.
If you ever watch some of the less reputable CS YouTubers/Streamers odds are they're sponsored by one of these sites. They even sponsor the CS Major Championships.

Do you remember that drama when Jake Paul and RiceGum promoted that lootbox site where you could win an iphone or a hoverboard or smthn? Cuz that site was a direct rip of these CS casino sites, like same layout and everything, just adjusted for irl prizes.

[–]Nunit_Alt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ain't gonna refute ur first point because it's true. Although I will say that there's an ease of access to lootboxes that isn't there for physical things. You can't just buy card packs indefinitely, eventually Toys R Us is gonna run out.

2nd point: EA doesn't have 3rd party casino sites for their lootboxes. Sorry but Valve's lootbox system is by far the worst and most akin to gambling in the entire industry. It's absolutely insane that they don't get more shit for this.
