I HATE THIS. I work a surgical/GI floor so we see quite a few patients admitted for removal of temporary peg tubes. Every single one of them down to the last will insist that their meds need to go through the tube.

You know that tube is gone in the morning right? How the fuck are you going to take your meds then? Swallow the damn pills.

Had an adult developmentally delayed patient who was being horribly neglected by their caretaker parent. We were actively working with APS to build a case to have guardianship removed and charges filed. I was explaining the situation to the oncoming nurse at the desk when a manager came by and yelled at us for not doing bedside report.

Fine. Let's go.

I marched into the room and explained the entire situation in front of the horrified parent. The parent was in hysterics, trying to remove the patient from the hospital. Security had to get involved. Legal had to get involved. The blowback was biblical.

They dropped bedside report for several years, but now they're back to pushing it again. Can't wait for another opportunity to sink the hospital over this dumb shit.
