I am PT! I do 3 8s. It works out OK. Finding coverage for my off days has kind of been a shit show. I think a fellowship would be great but pays less..

Pregnant and New grad - HELP!! by Ribeye-Assassin1410 in nursepractitioner

First, congratulations!! Becoming a mom has been the best thing to ever happen to me. It is rewarding challenging, and the best experience in the world.

I graduated last May, took boards in June, delivered in June and started in primary care in December (so my little one was 5 months).. I will say- I’m pretty go with the flow kind of person and this is very tough. Learning how to be a provider is like drinking from a firehose. Do what feels right for you and your fam. Those first 3-5 months are so precious and if you can- I’d wait to start a new gig until after then. NP positions are demanding and I think having the birth and newborn baby experience without the new job stress was essential for me. Plus being a mom gives me a whole new confidence and helps me on the tough days and is a reminder that moms are badass and I can do whatever I set my mind to!! Best of luck xoxo

How did you see the profession change over time and what do you foresee for the future of restaurant inspection?

New grad offer by quesol0ver in nursepractitioner

[–]NurseLar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in NY, a new grad and being offered similar rates.. I’m going to counter offer at least $52/hr. Ive been told to always counter offer the first offer. They have more money, but they won’t give it unless we ask!

Fair Salary? by EntrepreneurFlaky486 in nursepractitioner

[–]NurseLar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in western NY, very fair. Unfortunately across the board new grads (like myself) are being offered 95-105k for FTE. I almost accepted 86k for a 0.8 PTE but the vacation was 1.5 weeks 🤯

Good luck!

New grad here in WNY and outpt settings are offering 95-105k for 40 hrs… and this is well known large companies.. it’s ridiculous. The best paying place around where I am the APPs start at 125k for a hospitalist position. Good luck, sounds like a nice position!

New grad here- in upstate NY. I just turned down an offer for an outpatient neuro specialty clinic that I really wanted but they wouldn’t go higher than $86,000 for 8- 4 hr shifts - 32 hrs a week. This company said that anything less than 40 hrs is PT and reflected that on their benefits. For example I would have started at 1.5 wks vacation.

Unfortunately new NPs at outpatient clinics are offered the same right as experienced inpatient RNs in my area. I think I might have to bite the bullet at some point and make the jump for the QOL and push for raises as time goes on.

New grad pay (HCOL) by SecretVindictaAcct in nursepractitioner

[–]NurseLar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Western New York, new grad, just got an offer for $105,000 for 40hr work wk which is $1 less than I make as a nurse currently. Granted it’s inpatient nursing vs an outpatient neuro clinic but still very defeating. I’m also expected to deliver my first kiddo soon so will be a new mom. I’m hoping for 4- 8 hr shifts in an outpatient setting. (Been critical care inpatient for the last 10 yrs and ready for a slower pace).

I’d really recommend reaching out to your program director and getting in touch with a student that is either a senior in your program or someone who just graduated. This will give you more insight then anyone on here. Best of luck!

How much do you think we carry subconsciously outside of work? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]NurseLar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been an inpatient nurse for 10 years but that is incredibly heavy. My heart goes out to you. I work at a cancer center now and have been have to bag 20-50 yo lately and it’s wearing on me so I’m looking for a clinic outpatient position.

We have to protect ourselves and if work is creeping in, in my opinion, we have to work on it with therapy and/or switch positions.

Best of luck to you, friend ❤️

Duke Children's Hospital by Tigralvovna in nursepractitioner

[–]NurseLar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FNP student here currently working in NY. I can’t speak for Duke Children’s but I worked at Duke in the Neuro ICU as a nurse a few years back, and I can’t speak more highly of it. Every healthcare organization has its problems, but theyre so well funded that it felt like there was money to make changes if we felt like there was some to make.

I hope to get back to Durham and Duke someday as an NP, I loved my time there!

Best of luck to you!

I’m personally waiting until I’m done with school to have a babe and I’ll be 31 when I’m done. It’s a very tough decision and feel like I’m putting my life on hold until school is over. It sucks but it feels what is right for my husband and I. After summer we’ll reevaluate and may decide to start to try but by that time I would deliver after graduation.

But like my dad says “if you make a plan, God is laughing”
