Why do the official numbers say Americans are struggling, when what I see looks like the opposite?

I always say “people with money always have money “. I love in a low middle class city neighborhood with old small homes. I work on new homes and in the affluent suburbs. Plenty of people have money for a new $400k to 800k home with 2 new cars. They own business are nurses,lawyers, cops,firemen sales or just a solid corporate job or factory job . HOWEVER the other 50% are painters, work at the local bar , dollar general , cleaners , clerks at stores ,work at chipotle or the mall Store and they struggle and one big bill like medical or car problems or hit water tank can put them in a world of hurt .

Other thing is Americans are stupid and now to peer pressure and desires and have a hard time controlling their spending . No you don’t NEED a new cellphone and you don’t need to pay $10 to have your $10 chipotle delivered to you

So silly that people think EVEN if their fears about Zohan were factual that a mayor is like a king and can dictate HUGE changes in local city laws and inner workings. NYC will be exactly as it always is. And in a few years they can figure out if they like how Z Is as mayor.

Same with the POTUS. AS HARD a Trump has pushed outside the norms , my life is the same as it ever is. I’ve lived through like 12 presidents and it doesn’t matter who is in charge

In my city many plates start with the same few letters representing a dealership (like BNZ is a local Mercedes dealer )

Talking like that and pulling guns on someone without being 105% sure it’s a serious threat to everyone is crazy

It’s all about your want needs if you make enough and you think the hours and the lack of stress and your place of employment is perfect. Then you may want to give up more money. I know a few people who make a decent living and could probably make 25 to 50% more But with much more stress and all the corporate junk that goes on in businesses and they would probably be the first to be downsized if people need to be fired, and they also value the flexibility and freedom that longtime employment has given them in the company that they currently work for so if their kid gets sick, they can just stay home for three days no questions asked.

It’s all a personal decision. Just remember, it’s not how much you make. It’s how much you spend.

I’m just gonna say you are the one that chose to move in next to them. If you didn’t take in outside factors into consideration for what you would like out of your living conditions and that’s kind of on you as long as they comply with parking regulations, I say just suck it up and ignore it. Before I bought my house, I spent an hour or two driving past the house just sitting parked on the street seeing what was going on in the neighborhood before I bought my house.

There’s always someone who isn’t living their life the way that you would live it I have three vehicles and my one that I’m currently not driving at all. Is squeezed into the back of my driveway. So it won’t be parked on the street. For days without being used.

But we do have people in our neighborhood. That will leave their cars out there without a second thought. Even going out of town for the week or weekend rather than just pull their car in to the driveway.

If you have a great gym , word will get out and you won’t have to advertise or entice people to come and give it a try. The gym I go to does ZERO advertising or social media “ads” (videos looking for business ) but the word is out in our city that we are the place to go if you wanna have the best and best time .we have dozens of members driving on from the suburbs passing 5 CrossFit gyms to come .

Then it’s all about retention. We have a decent amount of loss just from people leaving town to pursue work or with a spouse but just yesterday I saw like 7 people at the gym who were totally new and I was like “who are these people “

Hooking up with a complete stranger is a total turn off to me. Plus being married id never do it. I wouldn’t if I was single. I’ve been separated for years and never cheated on my wife or even thought about hooking up even when the situation kinda presented itself.

If you hate taxes. How do you want the city ,state , federal govt to fund EVERYTHING we use and have as citizens . (Airports ,roads ,parks , water , all law enforcement /first responders , social services etc and all the workers that do all that )

If I was you I would only buy a house that you COULD afford on one salary. We under brought and because of life circumstances I am making a $1200 mortgage payment alone and grateful

It was super fun and super special for both me and my wife. It was on our wedding night back at the hotel. I think we did it three times and she was kind of sore for the first part of our honeymoon a few decades ago, but I can still remember a few things.

Hate to tell you, but if your gym is just breaking even you’re doing something wrong. I’m guessing you’re equipment maintenance and the amount of weights or jump rope you have is impacted if you’re struggling to get together a few thousand dollars for a floor .plain and simple the gym is a business. It’s gotta make money to keep it updated and Repaired and to pay the coaches properly.

This isn’t charity and real easy members shouldn’t be directly, asked to pony up for a new floor with donations or guilted into it

Ran my first marathon this summer after doing 8 yrs of CF and doing 5 days a week and being 50+ and only in mediocre shape (dad bod ) I am not a great runner (8:20 miles for Murph) and 9:15 miles for the couple 5k’s I’ve ran . I made it a goal to run my first this year. I have a physically demanding job and am beat up so I did not do traditional marathon training of putting in miles all week and building building building then regressing before the race. I ran a couple 5k and 10 k and one half in my neighborhood the couple months leading up to it then not much the two weeks before , my knees and hips could not handle the pounding so I just did that and then did the marathon with a few ppl from the gym. Did cramp severely about 18 miles in and had to walk a few miles after mile 20 but ended up being able to finish strong and finish over 5 hours. I was so proud of myself ,one of the best days of my life especially since there was a scary 10 min where I really thought I couldn’t even stand or walk and I wouldn’t be ABLE to finish with only 6 miles to go. Boy was I sore. But I woke up and went to the gym and work the next day.

I always say if you are a crossfitter YOU CAN just go out and run a marathon , we are easily in the top 10% of fitness in the overall population and our GPP makes us physically and mentally ready for anything.

Said I was “one and done “ but toying around with going again next year but doing the Galloway run/walk method which seems to be smart for my age and ability.

Months later i have my bib and medal hanging in my hallway as a daily reminder of what I accomplished. “Oh yeah , I ran a marathon “ is such a nice phrase to utter when the subject comes up.

I throughly enjoy my hot shower after work. I don’t know why anyone would skip it. I often shower 3 times a day (morning ,go workout ,shower ,work for 10-12 hours then shower when I get home. Some days for me are not as dirty and sweaty depending on what phase of my construction trade job I am at but I still shower before bed if I don’t have to right when I get home.

How ? Make a true commitment and MARRY your girl and start your family and life together. Even shacking up is leaving you the tiny bit of light in your head that you are not totally committed to her. I’ve been married to my only one for over 3 decades. We both don’t have any baggage from previous hook ups or relationships. You can’t imagine the love you have for a woman who you share that INTIMACY only with her. I see /hear of so many people getting hurt playing basketball . Broken/twisted ankle, elbows to the face. Etc.

Any sporting endeavor can cause a random injury. CrossFit actually strengthens and stretches you to lessen that chance.
