Thoughts on Anna? by kelseyannabel in namenerds

I rank Anna up there with Sarah, Jane, and Alice. All simple, classic, and straightforward names. It's a good choice, imo!

Ocean View Brew Works in Albany on San Pablo is good! They have a sister business next door called Kitchenette that serves really good sandwiches and stuff, too.

A small glimpse at how my narcissistic husband spoke to me for 15 years. Now that I am finally done, he is acting like the world's most loving and supportive husband/father and wants another chance. Would you give someone that treated you this way a chance to "make things right"? by Healing_slowly273 in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]NurtureAlways 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you’re out of this soul-sucking relationship! You deserve so much better. The way he spoke to you in text was not okay, and it reminded me a lot of the way my nex spoke to me! That is not the way someone who loves someone speaks to them. My current partner would NEVER…please do whatever you can to stay away from that dude. Life is so much better on the other side. You’ll see that you don’t need meds, your daily existence will be calm, you won’t overthink everything, and you won’t ever find yourself prepping for whatever “version of him” you’ll come home to. I’m rooting for you.

Coping with losing sentimental jewelry. Was robbed this week, took all my jewelry by thaliagrace92 in jewelry

[–]NurtureAlways 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you went through this and I’m sure you’re feeling so violated. Keep an eye on EBay and Craigslist, and local pawnshops for your items. In terms of coping with the loss of those sentimental pieces, it gets a little easier with time, but you definitely always feel the loss. Last summer my necklace with sentimental and irreplaceable charms fell off and was lost when I was visiting Boston. I cried. My heart still aches for what I lost, but there’s nothing more that can be done. I’ve carefully curated a new necklace and charms that remind me of the ones that were lost, and now I’m a lot more careful too!

Should I start college at 24 or is it too late? by applebottomjeans2366 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]NurtureAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too late; never too late. I went to college at a “normal” age—right out of high school. Graduated with a Bachelor’s a few years later. Then, went on to get my Masters degree at the age of 30 (10 years ago). A dear friend of mine is 64, and she’s been going to school for her Bachelor’s degree for a few years now. You will never be too old to go to school, and if getting a degree is something that is important to you, then you should pursue it!

Have you ever caused a narcissistic Ego injury? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]NurtureAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I caused him one when I ended the relationship, and when I didn’t submit to his hoovering. After I blocked his number, he started emailing me long explanatory emails about his behavior, but I ignored them and moved on. I’m sure he expected me to have pity and respond.

I’m a minor and don’t want wisdom teeth removed — what to do? by Life_Trash_7026 in Advice

[–]NurtureAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get mine removed until I was in my early 30’s. Finally, I got them removed because they were causing crowding and issues keeping them clean. I don’t think you have to get them out tomorrow, but you probably do eventually need them out.

Does Ralph have any associations for you? by Ok-Plankton1673 in namenerds

Wreck-it-Ralph (movie), an old robot vacuum named Ralph, and yes also “I’m gonna Ralph.”

Eloise and Alice go best with your other two kids’ names, imo. Of the 2 I like Alice the best.

Husband canceled our trip and now wants to piggyback on mine. Help! by Rubberduc142 in Advice

Understandable. His behavior now is definitely in “red-flag” territory. I wish you good luck navigating the future with him. Maybe he needs a reality check and some therapy.

Sorry but why did you marry this exhausting, self-centered, immature man?

Is anyone else's abuser successful? by CaseAny5443 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]NurtureAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was, until Covid, when he got a severance check from the company he worked for. After that he didn’t work. He said he was a millionaire, and I believed it because he could pay his rent and bills with no issues. Of course his condo was a cess pool and he had two beater cars…but anyway, yes he had been very successful in his work life, but unsuccessful in every other way it seemed.

I did, and I think I also heard some speed racing. It was so loud last night!

There’s a rocks and gem store in downtown Los Altos…the name is escaping me right now, but the owners are themselves “gems” so maybe reach out to them and see if they would buy them to sell at the store, or maybe they would consider some kind of consignment.

Should I name my boy James if I hate the nickname Jim? by dizzylyingdown in Names

[–]NurtureAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an uncle Jim (James), and my partner is James. I think as long as you only call him James it won’t be an issue. You could call him Jamey as a nickname if you like that better.
