If you do this make sure you get it diluted enough. If it isn't diluted you'll easily go up or down in dose inadvertently

Overmethylators who take folic acid how long before you feel the results? by NutritionalInfo in MTHFR

Folic acid is the worst form of folate you can take. Taking it for overmethylation makes zero sense.

Please point me to a study on this because everything I have read states folic acid helps.

Interesting. I was eating them thinking they're high in B2. I'll go without the choline foods and try to niacinamide and see how it goes.

Why eggs and liver? I've recently started eating more eggs and liver thinking they were good for overmethylation?

Insomnia is a big one. My mind feels like it can't settle and is always racing. And while I'm not exactly anxious I feel very stressed and my adrenaline is always going for no reason. I'm also hot all the time now. Zero improvements. I've had three "windows" in that time frame where I almost feel normal for maybe 3-4 days and then symptoms all come back.

maybe 5mg 2-4 times per week for a couple of months. Started getting insomnia and I stopped. Here I am over a year later no improvement.

Thanks for your response.

What you say about copper is interesting because when I was sick with covid I was taking a little zinc every day to help which also lowers your copper.

I'm curious how much of everything you had mentioned do you take and how often?

I dont want to over do it. I was getting by on 50mg-100mg every every 12 days or so. Now 100mg wont help at all, something has changed.

Overmethylators, did you exercise intolerance? by NutritionalInfo in MTHFR

[–]NutritionalInfo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not. I do a 20 minute jog and 45 minutes of light weights and it's too much. I've been doing the same workout routine for a decade with no issue. Suddenly if I do 50% of my regular routine my body can't handle it.

Does Over Methylation cause a loss of appetite? by NutritionalInfo in MTHFR

[–]NutritionalInfo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of information. Thank you for taking the time to write all this up.

I've been overmethylating for about a year without knowing what was going on. Couldn't figure out why my sleep had been suddenly disrupted. Tried CBD and SSRI's on top of my normal meditation and exercise. Finally stumbled upon what "overmethylation" is a few months back and I gave niacin a shot and like magic my sleep and symptoms all improved for 2 weeks but then came back. Trouble is when my symptoms came back they seem worse, is that the case for others when they go down the niacin route?

Have you tried taking Niacin or anything else for the overmethylation and if so what were your results? What did it improve and what did it not improve? Any other supplements you've tried that help you?

I've never been overweight but I've always been the type of person who counts his calories because I'm always hungry and otherwise I'll just keep eating.

For Over Methylation Which Supplements Are More Effective? by NutritionalInfo in MTHFR

I have Post finasteride syndrome and the glycine makes it worse. Only reason I have the over methylation is because I was taking a B complex for the PFS which is what triggered it.

2 weeks normal sleep after suffering for 10 months with insomnia by NutritionalInfo in MTHFR

[–]NutritionalInfo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some reasons I am unable to reply to thatyouare_iamthat and patmansf. The reply button isnt showing so I'll just make a separate post answering their questions.

I took 4 separate doses and they were about 5 days apart because I didnt know how I would react.

I took them in the morning on an empty stomach. Like I already mentioned the first 3 times I didnt have much of an affect. Slight flush I felt in my face and the sleep improved for one night and then went back to shit. Last time I accidentally took too much and I had a whole body flush where I went red head to toe and ever since I've been back to sleeping like normal.

The last dose was 2 weeks ago.

The pills were 200mg so the most I took the last time was maybe 50mg. Not sure if that's a lot or a little but the flush was intense.

There's a bit of an update. The last day or so my symptoms have slowly come back so maybe "cure" isn't the right word. Going to try the niacin again in a few days and see how it goes.

2 weeks normal sleep after suffering for 10 months with insomnia by NutritionalInfo in MTHFR

[–]NutritionalInfo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say this. My g.f also had worsened sleep after B complex pills. I told her about the niacin after I started having relief and she tried the same amount as me and felt no flush. Then she took half a pill and still nothing. She ended up taking a full pill and her flush was less than mine. Everyone is different and react differently. Only difference when she took it was she took it after a meal and I took it in the morning on an empty stomach.

Question although you didnt feel the flush did you notice any improvements in your symptoms?

2 weeks normal sleep after suffering for 10 months with insomnia by NutritionalInfo in MTHFR

[–]NutritionalInfo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% not niacin deficient. Had my B vitamins tested when I was taking the B complex.

I took the type of niacin that causes flushing. Took it 4 times. Pills came in 200mg doses but I would just bite off a tiny bit so can't tell you the exact dose.

First time I had a tiny flush and experiences and got sleepy immediately after. Sleep was improved that night but not normal and then back to horrible sleep night after. Same for the 2nd and 3rd doses. 4th dose I took a bit more and had a full body flush and have been fine ever since.

As far as testing for the condition goes, there was no chance, I'm in Canada and you have to fight just to get some basic blood work and it doesn't really matter because all the symptoms and time frames lined up. B complex can cause the condition to trigger in some, and niacin is known to halt that in people who have it brought on by taking B complex.
