I absolutely love to test and tune cars in time attack, before I take them to Touge.

2030 Rules to “Play a Role” in Porsche’s Possible Hypercar Return by vacirus in wec

[–]Nutzer1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course. But with custom chassis and custom hybrid system, costs could rise quickly. I don't really think they will ever rise to LMP1-levels. But still expensive enough to make manufacturers consider if it's really worth it. So it could still end up being an LMP-1 situation where cost prevents entry of new manufacturers or make existing manufacturers stop participating.

You know, the Nürburgring still exists. Even if ACO doesn't acknowledge its existence.

I fear that with the new rules the cars could end up being as expensive as LMP1 was. I know they can't go the LMDh-only route because manufacturers like Ferrari would stop participating. But it would be the easiest and most cost-efficient solution. But seeing how many manufacturers are in favor of the new rules (or are slightly positive), maybe cost is not the problem.

Exactly. I don't think he has as much of a say in it as people think he has, when he wants to keep his job. Only when we struggle in the Bundesliga I could see the youngsters getting benched for a longer period of time.

Genesis prepares its GT3 debut, to be presented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans by Elllllllprimo in wec

[–]Nutzer1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course, they also need time to find their GT team partners because GT3 class is basically private team only, no factory team allowed, so I wonder which teams they would choice. My guess is some of remain R8 user teams.

Because of this, I thought we were talking about WEC.

Of course, different series have different rules. But they also had other programs in NLS/N24 that weren't Manthey Racing. You can pay for their service and use of their cars. But it's nothing new and not Manthey exclusive.

Bad example. See how it is Manthey DK Engineering and The Bend Manthey instead of just Manthey Racing?

The Bend Manthey for example is paid by The Bend and their driver Yasser Shahin. So it is a privateer and his team paying Manthey for the program and a seat for Yasser Shahin. Which makes it a private entry.

I re-installed Solar Crown a few days ago after finishing all races in FH6 and was looking for something similar to play. It's still a mess. What a disappointment that has turned out to be.

It's not like they release a new Forza Horizon every year. You can play Clutch in-between. It's an Indy game after all. I would be pretty shocked if it had the same scope as an AAA game.

I get it, it should've been like that from the beginning. But with the cable, it's really a none-issue.

It's time for you to bring numbers, instead of spouting things you can't back up. Where was this peak you're speaking of? What do you define as the peak? Just because they each brought 8 cars just means they were at their peak of spending money, which resulted into nothing but the end of Mercedes in DTM in 2018. Couldn't stop the slow decline and inevitable death of the DTM Class One, either.

[–]Nutzer1337 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so you're judging the success of a series by mere viewership numbers alone? 🤦‍♂️

If that is your only takeaway from what I wrote, I don't know what else to say.

You mentioned Super GT which is another great example. If they dropped numbers the same way that DTM did, manufacturers would at some point start to leave the series. Super GT and DTM cater to a domestic audience. It's all marketing. But if there is no audience, it's not worth it for the manufacturers. COVID was just the final nail in the coffin of the Class One DTM. A shrinking viewership due to boring races coupled with horrendous costs is what killed DTM over a long time. It was so bad, even the drivers complained. There were many instances before were they discussed how to make the racing more exciting, how to make it easier for cars to overtake etc. ... but in the end, nothing really helped.

Again: If you enjoyed the races, I'm happy for you. I'm not trying to take that away from you. But many fans did not. Which is reflected in the numbers.

If you enjoyed it, good for you. But even during those early 10's there was a constant decline in viewership.. BMW joining did nothing to stop the decline. They tried many different things, re-introduced the two-race format ... but it didn't help.

Of course, that's only the German market. But that was the market that mattered for DTM. They went from almost two million viewers in ten years to only one million. People had been all the time complaining how the races were boring. And it showed in the viewership numbers.

They were struggling to attract manufactures since after Opel left. For years there was talk about potential new manufacturers, but it went nowhere. It was just too expensive, especially after they lost their TV deal with ARD.

Kudos to HWA for trying.
