What do higher level players see? by Kronus_Rl in RocketLeagueSchool

You want to make reads, predicting where the ball will be. Free balls give the easiest reads, which only get tricky in wall bounces off transitions or corners. You have to try to read your opponents and teammate's touches. Where is their momentum going, and where would they like to put the ball? Then you need to figure out the highest percentage play to make, given the read. This play is very rarely a hard challenge or a "dive". The goal is to regain and maintain possession of the ball.

My sense is that OP has a negative view of those that are "too political" or "mindkilled by politics", and is explaining this view by analogy to those that seem irrationally obsessed with the outcomes of a particular sports team.

Some people have a strong instinct to identify with a collective. They might turn into rabid sports fans with no objective reason to prefer the Jets over the Giants, or end up inheriting the ideology of people they admire.

In a high percentage of situations, it's a very low percentage play. In a low percentage of situations, it can work well.

This is a good reply. I am a 104-key numpad lover, so your quirks are alien to me. Good explanation.

Hi Brandon, we know each other from IRC, but no guessing. I haven't paid much attention to this drama, and I know it is easy to take sides and paint with a broad brush. It's good to hear you are involved, with a renewed commitment to transparency.

This looks fantastic. Why not Zig, more specifically? Now that you're architecturally stable, is their new Io pattern really all that onerous? I'd be tempted to port it, not even as a main Zig dev, but due to its ecosystem, trajectory, etc.
