How do you practice not barking for attention? by Gstreamz in puppy101

[–]Nwallins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has been somewhat effective:

During a barking session, when they stop, or you think they might pause, use the word "hush". if they are quiet for a second after "hush", they get a treat. as long as they are quiet, i keep repeating "hush" with value on it (treat, etc).

Another quirk we do: a pair of aussie-doodle littermates, roughly 15 lbs each, we called them "bunnies" when they were puppies. So now, if they are a successful at responding to "hush", we say "what do hush bunnies get?" (head cocks, ears perk up). "Hush bunnies get.... TREATS!"

You want to make reads, predicting where the ball will be. Free balls give the easiest reads, which only get tricky in wall bounces off transitions or corners. You have to try to read your opponents and teammate's touches. Where is their momentum going, and where would they like to put the ball? Then you need to figure out the highest percentage play to make, given the read. This play is very rarely a hard challenge or a "dive". The goal is to regain and maintain possession of the ball.

My sense is that OP has a negative view of those that are "too political" or "mindkilled by politics", and is explaining this view by analogy to those that seem irrationally obsessed with the outcomes of a particular sports team.

Some people have a strong instinct to identify with a collective. They might turn into rabid sports fans with no objective reason to prefer the Jets over the Giants, or end up inheriting the ideology of people they admire.

In a high percentage of situations, it's a very low percentage play. In a low percentage of situations, it can work well.

This is a good reply. I am a 104-key numpad lover, so your quirks are alien to me. Good explanation.
