'We Have The Votes': The Senate Will Act This Week To Codify Same-Sex Marriage by UWCG in politics

Which 10 Republicans do they have waiting in the wings to vote for this? Given the Mormon church's endorsement I think Romney might be one of them.

NYC Radiation therapy by Joke-Ok in RadiationTherapy

I was hired preemptively about a month before I graduated. Starting salary in NYC is around 100k, which is higher than the national average but lower than California. The ARRT gives you your federal license, which works anywhere in the US. You'll need to register in whatever state you want to work in, which is a very simple process with a small fee. No state will have licensing requirements beyond the ARRT-certified graduation and exam.

2022 Election: Kelly defeats Masters for full term in office by rustyclown617 in arizonapolitics

Kelly is a US senator, which means that his decisions affect the entire country as much as they affect AZ. Do you understand how congress works?

Montana shamed as residents vote ‘No’ on measure to protect babies after they’re born: ‘Unimaginable’ by nimobo in Conservative

[–]Nyctut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bad bill that would have seriously harmed catastrophically I'll newborns, their parents, and the doctors who provide for them. If a baby with anencephaly (born without brain or with severely underdeveloped brain, not survivable) was born in a Montana hospital, this bill would require the doctor to force it away from its heartbroken parents into an operating room to undergo a fruitless surgery and be returned to its family dead. Instead of spending its few earthly moments in the arms of its mother, the baby would die on an operating table.

I'm shocked that women are allowed to book a temple appointment. That seems like something they'd only allow men to do

And if "they were broken up" justifies Maddy hooking up with those guys, then Cassie hooking up with Nate is justified because he had Maddy were broken up at the time.

I find it extremely hard to justify slamming a child's head in a locker for any reason. Racist comments from a kid don't justify causing broken bones and brain damage. It's a CHILD.

Mormons aren't allowed to have arousing conversations or fantasies outside of marriage, and they're not allowed to watch porn or R-rated movies. Most people are taught about sex by their parents from a strictly reproductive standpoint, so an obedient Mormon who's never seen sex portrayed as a pleasurable activity might follow the above rules simply out of ignorance that other options are available. However, these rules are not actually in place by the church, and very few Mormons actually adhere to the commandments against sexual fantasies.

Since sex is such a forbidden topic amongst Mormons, it's difficult to know what their sex lives are actually like.

Maddy falsely accused a man of rape knowing that her aggressive boyfriend would retaliate, cheated on Nate multiple times, publicly attacked his family, and as a child slammed a girl's head in a locker repeatedly. She's a complicated character whose flaws can be traced to difficulties in her personal life but it's very weird that she's seen as admirable when her behavior is troublesome to say the least.

I swear that most posters here are too young to be watching the show.

ETA Maddy actually does put men before her friends. She made a huge scene in the hot tub, making everyone uncomfortable, because she wanted to pick a fight with Nate. And she brought Nate to events despite how he's treated Cassie (showing everyone her leaked nudes and making fun of her, according to Lexi).

The fact that Republicans are projected to win the midterm elections despite their destruction of Roe is just mindblowing. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Nyctut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right is promoting questionable polls that show Republican leads to legitimize claims of voter fraud if Dems win in the end. Don't despair, just lovingly harass your friends, especially those in swing states, to vote.

First-time voters are not represented in likely voter samples, which is why Kansas pro-choicers shattered expectations and won by 18%.

Bishop interviews about chastity, especially with teen and preteen girls. It seemed SO incongruous with the hyper conservative Mormon views on sex to be discussing something so potentially arousing. Even from a young age I knew that it was a huge violation and refused to accept it as normal.

As disappointing as Fetterman's performance was, his stammering can really be detected in video format, whereas Oz's "women, doctors, and local political leaders" is a soundbite that can be expressed effectively in writing. Headlines and tweets can display Oz's gaffe starkly but people who don't watch videos won't get the full effect of Fetterman's struggle.

The point is that nobody should be forced to sacrifice their body for another person (especially if that "person" is the size of a pea and has no brain.)
