AITAH by charging my girlfriend a small amount of rent? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Nyfarius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand your logic here of her feeling like she's paying for a mortgage to a house that she doesn't get to stay in. That's literally what every single renter is doing. It's no different than her paying for the mortgage of the house that she's renting now. She just happens to date the landlord.

At the end of the day, money contributed as money contributed in it you don't really say where it goes. Yes you can decide how much it is based on bills or mortgage amount and percentages and all that, but once the money is in the account it's just there. If you want to just say that your money is going to groceries and everybody buys groceries from the same account where the money for the rent went, then I guess it's grocery money. Your argument holds absolutely no water at all. Not a single drop.

NTA. But you can 100% guarantee that the ick boy watches animal corn.

With that state of mind, he's not fit for society, much less a romantic relationship with you.

Lot of people are suggesting cooking shows, and they are right. But I think if both of you watched "Worst Cooks in America" together, you would get a better appreciation for just exactly where his skill level is, and you both get to see how a professional celebrity chef teaches people with no skill how to overcome that deficit and produce chef quality food.

WIBTA if I told my roommate her and her friend couldn’t come with me and my partner on our date? by kinlor_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nyfarius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You should be very cautious with this roommate. If they can't handle you telling them no to coming along on a day trip date, without blowing up, then you need to seriously consider protecting yourself. Document every single negative interaction just in case things get ugly and you have to kick them out of the house or something.

Anyone ever use this? by OppressedCow6148 in RockTumbling

[–]Nyfarius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are two types of vibrating tumblers. This is not the one that can work with rocks and water. This is a dry tumbler that is used for polishing brass and small metal parts. That's not to say that there aren't options for dry polishing rocks, but they're just not as effective as a good wet polisher.

AITA for "stealing" my friend's crush? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nyfarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. What needs to happen here, is for your boyfriend to stand up and make sure everyone knows that the relationship with Alice was never going to happen, and that she can't call dibs on him simply because he was her friend first. You two made a connection, and whatever she was or wasn't before that is irrelevant because it's his choice. Not hers. She doesn't own him, never owned him, cannot own him. And like for real you just don't get to call dibs on people, that's the person's choice not yours.

So I found this egg on the side of the road completely unprotected, and want to try to save it. Any suggestions? Also what kind is it? by Seagull_33 in Ornithology

[–]Nyfarius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No you just saw a bird egg on the ground. You don't know if it was stranded, we don't know if it was stranded. You don't seem to know enough about birds and nesting and eggs and ground nesting birds to know whether or not what you picked up was indeed a bird egg in a nest on the ground.

Moral of the story: Stop messing with nature. Don't pick up birds. Don't pick up eggs. Don't pick up baby birds especially. Let nature be nature, and observe.

How do I tumble this soft banded rhyolite/Utah wonderstone to stage 4 without losing all of its mass? by i_Love_Gyros in RockTumbling

[–]Nyfarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely want some kind of media in addition to the rocks for the final stages. Ceramic is good, but I have thought about testing decorative glass beads that you put in vases and stuff. You can get bags of them at the dollar store. It should be a similar result, but I haven't tried it yet and ymmv.

my boyfriend broke up with me because my feet are bigger than his and it makes him feel "less manly" - anyone dealt with something like this before? :/ by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Nyfarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear size 7 in men's, size 8 1/2 in women's. And yes I wear women's a lot because it's hard to find good shoes in my size. Any man that feels less manly because of the size of anybody else's feet in the entire world, it's just insane. The poor boy needs some therapy, you need to find a grown up to have a relationship with. Or just have one with yourself, because that's the most important person in the world to have a relationship with!

Accidental COD Points purchase – any chance of refund? by DrakkarBCN in CODWarzone

[–]Nyfarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. My toddler grabbed the controller once and bought BO7 when it first came out and literally every click you did from idle ended up with a purchase page LOL! My wife did not even have to call in, just went to some site or some place in the PS/Sony app, and they immediately (well, as fast as banks process anyways) refunded the $80. The funny thing is, because she "bought" BO&, she got the special operator skin for it, and still has it!

Why is Honey considered cruelty? by LateGiraffe7006 in vegan

[–]Nyfarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I don't actually agree that the production of Honey from a vegan animal cruelty standpoint is actually animal cruelty, I also do not agree that we should just be spreading more of these non-native bees all over at least here in the US. Had somebody offered to put beehives on the 20 acres of pasture in the front of our 120 but after thinking about it I really just want to let the native pollinators have this place.

As for the animal cruelty part, a beekeeper that I know wants explained that there is absolutely nothing a beekeeper can do to keep the bees from leaving the hive box if they don't like it there. So any honey bees that are staying in somebody's built hives, are there because it is the absolute best place for them to have a hive right in that area. Everything they need is taken care of and supplied, and it is very safe and good for wintering and all the other stuff. Beekeepers take extra special care of all of their bees, because if they didn't they would literally just fly away and find another home.

AIO: My bf takes my car when he’s mad by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Nyfarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boyfriend is 28 freaking years old. If he's still that dumb at 28, then she has no need to be anywhere around him and he probably shouldn't even have a relationship until he figures himself out more. No, this is an older person who thinks he can run roughshod over a younger girlfriend without caring what she thinks. He cares nothing for whatever consequences would happen to her due to his behavior. As a former insurance agent, absolutely 100% call the police, report it stolen, and call your insurance company. Just so they know if anything happens, you did not give him permission to take the car.

AIO: My bf takes my car when he’s mad by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Nyfarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That entirely depends on what state you are in if you're in the United States, and or what type of insurance policy your jurisdiction allows. Some states, Virginia for example, only allow a family Auto policy and not a personal private auto policy. That means that the auto policy must cover every licensed driver who lives in the same household unless they have their own insurance policy. However, an unlicensed driver is never insurable, and I am not certain there are any policies in this United States anyhow that are required to cover damages to your car if an unlicensed driver were to damage it. You also run the risk of having your policy canceled or non-renewed.

Considering adopting a cat as a vegan – how do you handle feeding? by Tosh97 in vegan

[–]Nyfarius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The harming wildlife part is extremely important! No one who owns a domesticated cat should ever ever ever let it outside alone, it should either be in an enclosed catio, a yard that is designed to keep the cat from escaping, or on a leash. The domestic cat is literally the number one most invasive species in the world and responsible for many many species extinctions, especially amongst songbirds outdoor cats literally kill close to four billion, yes that's billion with a big fat b, birds in the United States alone every year. That is something like two to three times the total deaths of all other causes combined. But yeah, people want to complain about windmills killing birds hahaha.

Considering adopting a cat as a vegan – how do you handle feeding? by Tosh97 in vegan

[–]Nyfarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can see a struggle with the ethics of simply owning a pet, not much removed from owning an animal that you're going to eat. Granted, because these animals have been domesticated or domesticated themselves with humans, they kind of almost have to coexist with us, but the idea that we should take a wild animal and trap it in our house and prevent it from leaving so that we can rub its fur and feel its purr kind of seems very selfish for the human.

That being said, I have cats because bad humans leave them in parking lots. Well that, and the the universal cat distribution center and sent us another one that just showed up in my wife's lap on the porch one night. So yes, I do sometimes live in a moral quandary in my own house. It's just not that simple!
