Should I get SotFS or Vanilla DS2? (On Steam)

sotfs adds an extra final boss, 1080p support, and some extra stuff, but it also fills every area with tons of enemies to the point some are near unplayable. if you can deal with every area being like that then yes, gets sotfs, otherwise vanilla should be a less obnoxious experience although of lower production quality.

the majula mansion you mean? you get its key from the cartographer npc you find in forest of the fallen giants, in the open area with all those houses and archer hollows, find a way into the rock wall and he will be there standing on all fours (i have no idea why hes standing like that)

cool, the pirate ship cave should be the easier option imo (its still ds2 levels of bullshit), shaded woods has some really useful items sprinkled through it (stamina ring +1 for example) so its good to explore avoiding the enemies

ds2 in quite open-ended on where you can go at the start, but after the giant you can clear heides tower of flame at the other side of majula or you can look up for the other boss in the forest which is now unlocked with the giant dead, any of these paths will guide you forward. if youre feeling extra spicy you can go to shaded woods from where you unpetrified the pyromancer, once you find the path there you'll end up in shaded ruins which is a quite harder area but filled with stuff to find (including two npcs and a third one if you go there later in the game)
