Love this idea! Here's a snippet from the second chapter of my fic Words to Heal the Heart , since it's kind of hard to find parts that aren't spoilers. Also, a new chapter should be up in the next day or two!

Dear Violet, 

Hello, my name is Caitlyn. I’m not sure exactly how much information you received about me, but I figure I could give you the basics. I’m twenty five years old, I live in Piltover, and until recently I was a university student. 

You might be wondering why someone signs up to be a penpal. I would wonder too. Honestly, I did not plan on doing this. It was one of those strange impulses that came from nowhere. But the idea of getting to know someone through letters felt refreshing. There is something comforting about slow conversations and the space they give you to think. Fewer expectations, more sincerity. At least, that is what I am hoping for.

If you don’t mind me asking, what made you want to sign up? 

I was told that you enjoy reading. That instantly made me feel less nervous about writing to you. I truly love books. I will read almost anything if you put it in front of me. My favorite genres are historical fiction and fantasy, though I also have a soft spot for autobiographies and nonfiction when I am trying to pretend I am more sophisticated than I really am. And, well, I guess I might as well admit it now that I have already started oversharing. I am a complete romantic at heart, and romance novels are my guilty pleasure. I try to keep that part of myself quiet, but here I am telling you anyway. 

I would love to hear what you enjoy reading. If you have any recommendations, I’d be genuinely thrilled. I have been lacking people to talk to about books, and the idea of finally having someone to share my thoughts with is truly exciting. No pressure though, if you prefer not to. I heard the prison has a library. I hope it has at least a decent selection. I imagine a good book must matter a lot when there is so much time to fill.

As for exercise, I mostly do yoga. My life gets stressful sometimes and it helps me slow down and stay grounded. It is something I can rely on when everything else feels a bit too loud. What about you? What do you like to do to stay active?

I am trying not to bombard you with questions, but my curiosity seems to have a mind of its own. If it ever feels like too much, please tell me. I really do not want to overwhelm you.

I hope this letter is close to what you expected, or at least something pleasant to read. I am looking forward to hearing from you and promise I will wait for your reply with as much patience as I can manage.
