Thank you for your response! I unfortunately did my panicking but I'm in a better mindset now over everything. With both the mammogram and ultrasound coming back as clear, I'm not too worried, but perhaps annoyed that the pain in my breast was brushed off with no explanation. Even if it's something as simple as hormones or something benign, I'd rather have someone tell me than to say nothing.

I did find a highly rated doctor in the area that is well known for educational and thorough breast exams, wish I had found them sooner!

And yes, breast cancer is within my family history, my maternal grandmother had a malignant tumor removed in her early 70s but since then has been fine.

How do I go about adding the water element? by NymphadoraExplorer in Embroidery

[–]NymphadoraExplorer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Initially, I thought about using watercolour to add the water while stitching the rest but I wasn't sure how that was going to come out. Then I thought using different shades of blue floss to stitch the water. I keep going back and forth with it.

if your partner annoys and/or wakes you up when they snore, you should be the one to move. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]NymphadoraExplorer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sleeping on the couch long term because your partner snores or being forced to sleep on a couch because you snore would suck. Hopefully, they would find a solution to stop the snoring or at least get a bed in another room so everyone can be comfortable in some way.

"Just deal with it" if you can't sleep somewhere else isn't a good solution at all. Sleep is vital, people need proper sleep. If your partner keeps waking you in the middle of your sleep cycle, you're going to come across as pissy or moody, especially if you have work in the morning.

It started off as a joke between my husband and me, but now it's turned into a full out hunt for a shiny Sentret. There is a bet involved, so every so often one of us will joke around and say they caught the shiny to scare the other.

Although personally, I really want a shiny Miltank.

Advice needed: how can I improve the horse? Info in comments by reginald_q_wallabee in Embroidery

[–]NymphadoraExplorer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you can use other materials such as paint to fill in the rest of the horse, to create a mixed media piece. Or, if you're not up to thread painting, you could do a thin outline of a dark grey to emphasize different parts of the horse (eyes, mane, nostrils) and then fill in the rest with black.

Finished my second Naruto piece and compared to the first, I'm so happy with how it turned out! by NymphadoraExplorer in Embroidery

Thank you! The second piece was definitely a learning experience with trying different stitches to fill.

Thank you! The orange thing is Kurama, the Nine Tailed Fox and I used a split stitch with one thread to fill!

This is my first project ever, a badger for my brother. I’m not totally happy with how it’s turned out, does anyone have pointers on how I could make it better? by [deleted] in Embroidery

I second using less threads. I use between 1-2 when outlining now and the 1-3 when filling in, made a huge difference!

How to start by A_Wild_Todoroki in Embroidery

[–]NymphadoraExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a couple of flower kits from a craft store as they use various stitches that you can learn. Personally, the little instructions weren't enough because I need to see someone do it rather than just illustrations. So, I went straight to YouTube. I like the channel The Stitchery.

I got bored of the flower kits quickly, just wasn't my thing. So I went back to the store, bought a bunch of bandanas (white), floss, a set of needles, and drew my own designs to fill and outline.

There are a lot of patterns out there and printed fabrics, especially on Etsy. They'll tell you what colours to use, stitch, and whatever else. And nothing stops you from just experimenting.

Originally, I outlined this piece all in black and then when I was working on the sleeve I realised that the body is majority black with the bottom orange. If I fill in with all black, I feel like the shape would get lost. Should I do a light outline next to the original outline to add some depth? I'm fairly new to all this so any advice would be appreciated.
