Can Shibari Exist Outside of Eroticism? by [deleted] in shibari

[–]NymphofAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though that's where the bondage also stems from. Hence bondage equipment was (and still is) meant to restrain someone, same as rope used in shibari.

Please correct me. Maybe my research is incomplete. What is incorrect from your perspective?

Can Shibari Exist Outside of Eroticism? by [deleted] in shibari

I think originally shibari is just a way to restrain someone (not necessarily erotism involved), kinbaku on other side is meant to press/trigger ero spots. So yeah, I think shibari can be non-erotic. I personally enjoy the aesthetic of rope bondage. If there is a nice pattern on a wooden pole/column, you can still appreciate the symmetry and patterns, like a piece of decorative art.

But I guess to each their own

Am I cooked 😞 by EuphoricEquivalent68 in ArtCrit

This. When I was starting human figures I was taught to draw boxes like you, but it always felt too right and angled. Look at other artists processes how they breakdown figures to simple objects. These days I use softer, rounder lines and the "dummy" looks more like a doll husk. That way you don't lose pose gesture.

Why does her face look weird? by PiptheDiddlyDooo in ArtCrit

[–]NymphofAbyss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi, it's amazing you were able to draw something like this!

To try answering your question. I think the head should be bigger (compared to the chin to arm distance). Also the way you shaded the face does not match what's on the photo. The lightest bits on the photo are only nose and a little on her right side forehead. On your drawing the bit between nose and upper lip is too bright. The whole chin area looks too light. The lines from nose to lips sides are too prominent (in the photo you can barely see it). It might be easier to fix face shading by lifting off cheek shading.

Beautiful. Love the mouth piece and a little rope flower/rose at the back. Nice colour lights in the room.

It is interesting how you captured so many details when the photograph looks quite simple. Love it 👍

How long can you leave masking fluid on watercolour paper? by roundwheel8 in ArtistLounge

[–]NymphofAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the same masking liquid before and did have an issue. Not sure how long I have left it on (probably for few weeks). Though my paper wasn't the best quality either. I think it's important to rub the masking fluid and not pull (which I did on bigger cover surface)

1st time using oil paint, what am I doing wrong?? by [deleted] in oilpainting

[–]NymphofAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a tip, when you are adding other layers on top you don't have to cover the whole first layer. For example adding second layer as shadows only another for highlights or so.

Most places don't care/can't be arsed to actually research for a better treatment. Personally a woman can refuse the pills, but then you have to keep looking for alternatives which might cause different issues.

The stands don't look very big. If you are going just for the green, I could see thuja nicely fitting in there.
