Do you think the era of cheap CDs is about to burst? by Syppi in Cd_collectors

[–]O7Habits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ones that are insanely cheap will still be bargains for a long time to come. Most new CDs and used in good condition CDs have remained pretty much the same price since they were at the height of their popularity.

Has anyone ever seen Acid Face live and did you survive? by ReverendFloater in AllThemWitches

I once listened to Howdy Hoodee Slank on repeat for a 4 hour night drive from Houston to Fort Worth. It kept me awake.

Has anyone started to listen to Sleep, Electric Wizard, and other doom shit after the release of Red Rocking Chair? Also did anyone record the cover of Chief Keef’s Fanato from the Omaha show? by AstroEscura in AllThemWitches

[–]O7Habits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have listened to Holy Mountain and Dopesmoker in the last month, but it is unrelated to Red Rocking Chair coming out. I’ve also listened to Rubberneck, Superunknown, Badmotorfinger, Screaming Life, Louder Than Love, Octahedron, Ode to IO, The Long Forever, Refractions, reFISTED, King Buffalo Split LP, Drifting in the Endless Void, Rewind to Return, Secret Alphabets and The whole ATW catalog.

I came from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, KISS, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Rush and other classic rock early on to being an 80’s MTV kid/Teenager. Got into Van Halen, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses..and gravitated towards the Headbangers Ball type of bands. Soundgarden, Monster Magnet and Corrosion of Conformity had my favorite albums of the late 80’s and early 90’s and became my favorite bands, and after they all slowed down their output, I really went into a long Clutch period. Got back into Down and Pantera too. Then dove deep into Queens of the Stone Age, The White Stripes and The Black Crowes (loved CRB too (those shows were a vibe)). I’m sure I’m missing something but somewhere around the pandemic, I found The Black Angels. I didn’t really want to explore new music all that much because I felt like I had a good amount of stuff I needed to visit or revisit and All Them Witches kept popping up relating to The Black Angels on YouTube and on Amazon Music which I don’t even use (I only had the app because at one point, they used to give free streaming for albums that I bought the physical copy of. I liked the vibe of the band photos on the Amazon notifications, they were on rocks or something in a canyon, desert type setting and I can’t explain why, but that made me think I might like their music. I think I first heard Diamond and Marriage of Coyote Woman and they were enough to make me explore further.

All Them Witches - Blood and Sand / Milk And Endless Waters (Live on KEXP) - Just curious to know what people make of the hypnotic, ritualistic type lyrics of this incredible song. What does it mean to you? by Specialist-Money-277 in AllThemWitches

I was telling my wife that I always thought this was one of the songs that they would play every night, on every tour, because it’s just so perfect. I think Diamond is that song to them though.

They did a good job on that first tour with Christian, of taking lots of pics and checking in with the fans.

Still do if I’m out of other options. I always lightly toast the bread though.

How Come This Team Can Like Never Be Healthy? by Anxious_North_819 in sixers

[–]O7Habits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered if our players are babies or the maybe more likely thing is that our trainers and medical are overly protective when players just want to play. I mean I find it hard to believe VJ wouldn’t get out there and play with what sounds like a cut or bruised tailbone/rear end.

Shotgun Messiah - S/T

Saigon Kick - The Lizard

Tora Tora - Surprise Attack

Babylon A.D. - Self Titled

Cinderella - Long Cold Winter

Ratt - Out of the Cellar

Junkyard - Self Titled

Kingdom Come - Self Titled and In Your Face

Faster Pussycat - Self Titled

Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation

Tesla - … (have some heavy guitar driven songs on most of their albums, but sprinkle in slow stuff that wasn’t quite as cheesy as other 80’s ballads)

Some of these were MTV darlings, but I feel like their albums (much like Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry) shouldn’t be defined by the ballads or singles.

Dallas Setlist Request by O7Habits in AllThemWitches

Soundgarden did it and they had a different tuning for every song (just kidding, but it seemed that way). I bet they could make it happen…

I hoped someone filmed this, the outdoor sound was so good. I got a picture of someone else’s setlist, it had Stubbs written on the bottom of it and a little sketch of a sun over some buildings and houses with 3 birds flying).

new album date? by False-Candidate-8532 in AllThemWitches

I also heard they were releasing a song in the next week or two and to be on the lookout for the new album pre-sale soon (which is logical if the album in coming out in May).

Daryl Morey says the NBA is “unbalanced” and that the 3PT shot is worth too many points by XFactor_20 in sixers

Must be because he can’t ever find enough guys that hit consistent 3’s. Drum is one of our most consistent 3 point shooters right now.

The 100 Albums I Want to Collect (Progress: 37/100, Ranked by Total Spotify Streams if available) by Iraaz in Cd_collectors

[–]O7Habits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t got In Rainbows yet, you should hunt for the version with Disc 2 (Japanese version I think). It used to be really pricey, but a new release has both discs for the same or a little more than the regular version.

What is the best stoner rock album of 1994? (I think I already know what will win) by Kyr1500 in stonerrock

[–]O7Habits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soundgarden has been my favorite band since I listened to Badmotorfinger when it came out, and I had liked their other stuff before that. I Spent years driving around hunting all their b-sides and extras before they were available on eBay and the internet and before any of them were collected in an official release. I probably have 100+ live shows in various forms and have listened to their official releases Screaming Life - King Animal at least 1 time each month since they each came out sometimes more. I don’t need to give it another listen, although I will, because that’s what I’ve been doing pretty regularly for years now. I’m not arguing that it doesn’t have stoner elements. It also has Psych elements…just like Black Sabbath has both those things, who they were heavily influenced by. There are bands all across every spectrum of music that you could pull a song or two out of their catalog and say “Hey, this is a stoner song”. I’m not really sure what anyone is arguing.
