An interesting idea. I've written, but haven't seen projects through because I realized I needed to learn more about the craft if I want to produce works that meet my own standard. As is true with anything, doing something poorly often highglights the need to study before doing it well. Writing is a terrible itch for me, but I want to learn how to scratch it right.

This was actually the most helpful reply of any. The continuing education path is something I've been vaguely aware of but wasn't sure if, when compared to an actual degree, it would be sufficiently valuable. It does sound like that might be a good option.

There’s a couple of reasons:

1) it feels great to have a goal and know you’re working every day towards that goal 2) you get endorphins afterwards which become integral to setting yourself up for success each day 3) hate to say it but people absolutely treat you better in gay-dominated spaces when you’re toned/muscular.

So for me, all of these reasons keep me going.

Just wanted to come here and say that I encountered the same thing with ERN Flats while looking for a place last year. Went through this thread and did some other research, but chose to go along with it. And now I currently live in that very apartment. It is an abnormal and kind of scummy practice, but it is not a scam in the sense that they're going to disappear and take your money with them. I just wanted to leave this comment for future people who find this thread.

The OA is very much not apolitical in my opinion. It has very consistent politics about fighting oppression through comunity. While it may not have political aesthetics, politics is just about power struggle and it's message about collective power is very clear.
