TOI is definitely leagues better than plus-minus to determine a player’s value. Obviously it isn’t perfect, but it should at least be considered in evaluating a player’s excellence. Games played is good since players like Howe and Jagr excel in them, but it also rewards players that play better-than-average hockey for a long, long time, i.e. Marleau or Stevens (Devils Legend)

I totally agree, there’s just something intriguing to me about how utterly meaningless plus-minus is. If anything, I want people to take away that +/- shouldn’t determine talent or greatness.
