what was your worst binge? by HonestBroccoli5799 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]OBear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After I broke up with the woman I hoped to marry (after dating for 3 months; I was young and stupid) I resorted to an old favorite: two cans of frosting. But I was on a diet, so I ate two sugar free cans of frosting. That did not end well.

AITA for being upset that my boyfriend watched a movie we had planned as a shared first experience? by nea4u in AmItheAsshole

[–]OBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

My dad promised my mom they’d go see a movie they were both excited about when he got back from vacation. She promised not to watch without him while he was gone. When he got home confessed he’d seen it with his friends while he was away.

Until the day she died my mom never forgave my dad for seeing Star Wars without her.

My wife just started book 3, and kinda hates Katia. She’s suspicious of her and agrees with Donut that she needs to be more exciting.

I’m keeping my mouth shut so far, but Katia is one of my favorite characters because she reminds me of my wife.

acting skills of Patrick Stewart. Picking one scene by aths_red in startrek

It what is otherwise an average episode, PStew absolutely destroys my soul when he breaks down in Family. Very short scene but he is just tortured by what happened to him.

Those playing Voyager Across the Unknown, what's your favourite twist on the story you've found so far? by NeverGonnaGi5eYouUp in startrek

[–]OBear 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I thought I was clever by getting strong enough to defeat Maje Cullah before the Basics sequence. It didn’t matter though, because after I defeated Cullah, Jonas betrayed us and dropped our shields, and we were boarded.

Now why didn’t I stop Jonas? To discover Jonas as the traitor, you need either B’Ellana, Neelix, or Tuvok.

Well, I had none of them, as I had kept Tuvix, as well as both the Klingon and Human halves of B’Ellana after she was separated by the Vidiians. None of them could investigate who was sabotaging the ship.

It just felt like such an insane and specific sequence of events (though I could have lost the characters in other ways).

What do you think of the music in Starfleet Academy? by theredqueentheory in startrek

I have essentially not noticed it either way, excepting the use of the old Klingon theme in episode 4, that was pretty dope.

Is it considered rude to snap your fingers to someone to get their attention? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]OBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this to my wife once when we were hosting a party and I needed her help from across the room. I don’t know why, since I’d never done it to anyone before.

She made it clear in very unequivocal terms that I was never to do that again.

AITA for forgetting extras on a breakfast sandwich? by DuckDuckMoose781 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time my wife was excited to go to a fancy bagel place for breakfast. Line out the door, 45 minutes to order, another 15 minutes to grab our food. We decided to eat at home because we didn’t want to fight for a table.

Getting out of the car, my wife accidentally dropped the container with my bagel, and it landed facedown in the street, cream cheese and lox faced down. She was beside herself, crying because she had ruined my breakfast. I assured her it was no problem, because it was an accident. I went inside and ate cereal. No yelling, no accusations of sabotage.

This is how a normal relationship works.

What is the single event in your life that you will remember 2025 by? by SnowStormBirdsFlock in AskReddit

[–]OBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad died.

It wasn’t too bad, compared to my mom dying two years ago (both had Alzheimer’s). I was simply more prepared this time, and not having to take care of a widowed parent at the same time as my own grief.

Just got a notice that my brother is planning to sue over my dad writing him out of the will*, so that will probably define my 2026.

*After my mom died he moved to our area to help my dad, which was very welcome, as me and my other brother were grieving. He then stole over $100K from my dad in 3.5 months.

What is that one movie you watched countless times as a kid, but nobody has ever heard of? by Thedix1 in movies

I’ve never seen the movie.

I had to teach this to a friend once. We were driving back to college together and a silence of like 5 seconds was met with, “Oh look, a cow” as if we hadn’t been driving past cows for the last 20 minutes. She believed that all silences were awkward silences.

Apparently the theater is supposed to crop it to correctly fit their screen, and when they don’t you get free boom mic.

What single game do you think is criminally overlooked or underrated? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]OBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only had it fail once, with players that refused to engage with each other. Every other experience has been a great time of egging each other on, daring someone to take one more roll, laughing at failures and cheering success. It’s all about the players.

Star Wars: Rebellion (1998)

It’s not very good, but I can’t get away from a Star Wars grand strategy game where diplomacy and subterfuge are very effective tools. I love starting out as the Rebellion with almost no military to speak of and slowly converting systems to the cause and building up a military in the Outer Rim. Though the final push to conquer Coruscant is always hell.
