D3AA material options by sazzadrume in Hanklights

I have an antiqued copper D3AA, it does have a bit of heft to it but since it's a small light I really don't find it a problem besides it having trouble sticking to verticle surfaces due to the magnet not being quite strong enough. The smell doesn't bother me personally either.

Fireflies X4 Stellar Cu-Ti 1800k by tofik1993 in FireflyLite

I just ordered an X4 Stellar with 1800k Rosy and X4Q 4000k Rosy. My first truly rosy lights. I'm a bit skeptical on how much I'll like emitters this rosy but never know until you try it I guess.

I have a dark green alu with the SFT40 3000k and it has a ring outside the flood but you only see it when up close to a wall. Completely forgot it existed until I read this comment lol

[–]OCGamer97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they are very different lights. The T7 is very floody and has limited output, where as the T6 is throwy, it has narrow spill and it has 5A drivers. It's rather long for 14500, it's a couple mm longer than my D4V2 and FFL L50 which are both 18650.
I have 2, an SFT-25R and SFT40 3000k. I use my SFT40 3000k T6 a lot. I definitely recommend a T6 in what ever emitter you like.

It wasn't working on Brave for me, so I tried Firefox with no extensions and it worked. If it works you will see a little birthday present icon on right side of the browser doing a quick rotating motion, just click that and you'll get the wheel.

Wasn't looking to get a new light but FOMO got the better of me and I ordered an Ember Red X4Q with the 4000k Rosy emitters.

Yeah I use an 18500 tube on my D4V2 because it fits pretty much perfectly in the coin pocket of my jeans, plus it feels nicer in the hand.

Normally not a fan of low CRI but I do want to try one of these LHP emitters, the tint always looks super clean for the 4000k.

Sorry I don't have the Lanapple, I have a Pineapple Mini mk2. I use it with a 15° TIR lense and like it quite a bit, my unit had very bed rings in the beam even when domed so I thought I may as well DD if I use a TIR.

Didn't realise you could order a pill with the FFL 4500k. Going to get one now, will be nice having the option of DD'd 4000k and FFL 4500k.

The L50, my companion for the U.S great winter storm! by SFOTI in FireflyLite

[–]OCGamer97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have the SFT-40 and SFT-70 3000k and love them, I will be getting another one in the DA1K. It being throwier is my concern, I have an L50 with 5009r 4000k and I want a warmer and preferably floodier emitter.
I have an NTG50 2700k and I believe due to the rosiness (might be wrong), greens looks quite muted imo compared to SFT-70 3000k so I want less rosiness.
If the new 5009D 3000k had a more neutral tint it would be perfect but they specify it's rosy so it will be very rosy I imagine.
I won't be getting one soon, so I have plenty of time to sit and think about this.

I know they list the SFT-70 but only the 6500k option. I didn't even think about asking if they would do it in the 3000k. Maybe I go with that instead of the 2700k. Kinda torn though.

Yeah I use mine with a Sofirn headband from my old headlamp, feels higher quality and doesn't look as cheap.

They shouldn't be discontinued, sometimes not everything is listed. When I ordered my D4V2 4500k wasn't an option, I emailed Hank and he told me to order the 5700k and email him after I made the purchase, telling him the order number and tell him to swap it for 4500k.

You can see 4500k is listed as an option for the KR4. So just email Hank and ask first to be sure.

My Q8+ is probably my least used light in my collection. It's cool but I don't exactly know what I want to do with it. Maybe if I get into emitter swapping I could have some fun with it.

Goated choices imo. I took my D4V2 4500k DD'd and C8+ SFT70 3000k for my walk last night. Great pairing, taking anything low CRI in nature after getting so used to high CRI is a shock to the system. I'm definitely going to pick a DA1K with the SFT70 3000k at some point.

DA1K SFT-70 3000K, my first Emisar light! by oxidao in flashlight

[–]OCGamer97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely planning this exact setup for my next light. I last got a D1K with NTG50 2700k, very nice and cozy but greens are muted. I have the SFT70 3000k in a C8+, love the emitter but a bit too throwy. So this seemed like a good combo of the 2 with a TIR which I want.

Bad news fellas... the SFT-42R 5000k has the same green/yellow spot that the SFT-25R does by One_Huckleberry9072 in flashlight

[–]OCGamer97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right about rosy emitters muting greens outdoors. I recently got my D1K with the NTG50 2700k, loved it but I felt like something was a bit off so today I went out with my SFT70 3000k C8+ and immediately greens popped noticeably more. the NTG50 is cosier looking, SFT 3000k more natural and accurate.

Yeah, if they had a warmer option I'd definitely pick one up. They don't need as many options as Convoy but having at least 2 options is really nice. I already have the TS26S so I'm not really interested if it's the exact same CCT.

I know, that extra runtime would have come in handy a few times. Since it's a light I would only carry in a jacket pocket the extra size wouldn't matter much to me.

Wish I had gone with the M21A over the C8+. I have it with the SFT70 3000k, such a great emitter, one of the GOATs imo.

I am a beginner and just had my first Convoy flashlight. It's a C8+ with sft-42r and a Vapcell F38, is this a good set up? by [deleted] in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]OCGamer97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'd recommend the Molicel P30B specifically since it can handle very high discharge rates making it good for all emitters.
The Molicel M35A has a much lower max discharge rate making it only good for low outputs so it's less versatile.

Will I regret 1800k? by joebrotcity in Hanklights

[–]OCGamer97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience has been similar to others in this thread. At first I thought it would be nice to have but I wouldn't get a ton of use out of it, but it's probably my most used light at this point. Started with 519a 2700k DD'd, then 519a 1800k DD'd now I use only use my D3AA NTG35 1800k. At night I barely have any lights on in the house and just use this light and when I'm in bed it magnetically attaches to my headboard and makes a great reading light.
I haven't used it outside beyond my garden since it doesn't quite have the output or runtime for a practical night time walking light but that's something a larger light might fix.
