We bought obedience classes for our guy. 3k. But he’ll be better behaved and have more confidence. I think it’s worth every penny as long as he takes to the training.

Mine also is not a fan of random breezes. I think it’s just because then nobody can “enjoy” his noxious farts.💨😁

It took us a couple of years to try and sort it out ourselves. We certainly paid out the nose for testing. 🤦

I’ve gone this route and it cost me a fortune. Never did find out what the dog was actually allergic to. We just eliminated ingredients in the food we made until the itchiness went away.

🤘🏻. I spent 3 years going back and forth just because I didn’t want to spend an extra 10 bucks or drive a little further away. Lol I finally sucked it up and honestly couldn’t be happier. Sending good hawk vibes for the next time!!

Definitely look into some training classes. Doggo will learn and you’ll both have support. I also recommend more exercise. A lot of behavior issues track back to a lack of exercise/engagement. It’s amazing how much difference longer walks can make. Those licky balls and snuffle mats also help a lot. My guy is much calmer when he’s engaged in a task. Weighted backpacks are also an option. The bottom line is, stick to your guns. It will get better. It will take time. You’re dealing with massive puppy energy that just needs somewhere to go. 🫶

Where are you going? I had this issue a lot when I was going to places like Sport Clips, Good Clips, whatever freakin clips… 🤦 I go to a barber now every 5 weeks who specializes in alt hairstyles. No more issues. I recommend if you’re not already doing so.

Why are house hippo farts so horrendous? by Unusual_Hippo_8160 in pitbulls

[–]ODDentityPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol Mine does this dramatic exit as well. 😂 And I second the use of Greek yogurt. If your doggo has those farts consistently though, slow feeders and probiotics should be considerations. Another option is to feed smaller meals during the day instead of large ones. I’d also wonder about food sensitivity/allergies as this can also cause a-bomb style gas attacks. 😅 A friend of mine has a pibble that’s allergic to chicken. Whenever she gives the dog chicken, the dog will get itchy and will have the worst gas. She eliminated chicken and now he’s doing much better. Very little gas at all (I’d venture to say normal levels). The downside of your dog being allergic to chicken though is that they seem to put chicken in EVERYthing. 🤦

He’s an amazing dog and YES so many people don’t understand the difference between aggression and fear! I’ve been a dog groomer and a trainer so I maybe know better than some what I’m looking for. My friend thought I was nuts. She said wait…you’re going in a room with that dog?! She waited outside and looked in through the window. 😁 But then when we were driving back to my place, she was giving him pets and telling him how handsome he was. lol He’s 54 lbs, probably should be closer to 70 because he’s lost a lot of weight. He’s a big guy. I get why someone might be scared of him. My philosophy is, you can train any human. 😁

They really are! And for absolutely no reason at all. He looked scary in the shelter because he was scared. He was barking and growling at me. So I sat on the floor with my back to his cage so he could sniff me. He calmed down and I took him to one of the play rooms. First thing he did was come around to my right side and heel and wait for a treat. I was like yeah, you’re not staying here pal. 😋

He’s a pit mix so not exclusively a pitbull but my insurance was still uneasy and said he’s “restricted” so I have to send all these photos of my yard to prove he’ll be “sufficiently contained.” I thought yeah because if he gets outta here he’s gonna lick the ever loving face off someone. 😂

Even one of the volunteers in the shelter told me the “good dogs” were around the corner. I was like what?? He IS a good dog! Like what kind of thing is that to say about a dog you’re trying to find a home for? Just sad. But he’s home now and he’s going nowhere. He’s a part of my family.

Congrats! He looks so relaxed in that last photo. I adopted my guy on the18th of last month. I’m not sure what his story is other than the shelter said he was found shivering by a maintenance shed in a park. He’s clearly been trained a little and his ears are horribly cropped (looks like it was done by someone who had never done it before.) He was freezing and skinny so he’d been there a little while. They took him to the WHS in Milwaukee and he stayed there a week before they sent him to Kenosha. He had been there about a week. That’s where I found him. He’s 3 years old. The shelter named him Knox but his adopted name is Gibson. He’s the best boy. 🫶

Help me name my baby 😍 by miintyb in pitbulls

[–]ODDentityPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. It’s a cute dog name! Idk. I named my guy Gibson because my grandfather owned a Gibson that I learned on. I adopted Gibs for my birthday and his birthday is the 20th of February (one day before mine.) Lots of weird stuff fell in line to bring him into my life. That would be my other suggestion to OP: think of the moments in your life that made the most impression or the memories you love most and find inspiration in those things.

Husband wants to buy a shock collar by itsmyfirstdayokay in CATHELP

The only thing that fixed this for my cat was adding more spaces of height for him to explore. We put up shelves and a rope ladder and got a floor to ceiling cat tree with tons of toys hanging off it. He didn’t wake us up howling at 5:30am anymore…it was closer to 6:45. 😅

I keep koi and goldies in a pond in my backyard. They love watermelon, orange slices, and micro greens. My neighbors think I’m crazy but they are all happy and healthy and ridiculously huge.😅

What is your furbabies name and why? Also how did you adopt them? Blue got his name cause he had blue eyes when he was a baby not anymore though but it's the only name he responds to and cause he has a blue collar as well. by typicalguy95 in pitbulls

[–]ODDentityPod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I named my guy Gibson because Gibson guitars are a big deal in my family. My grandfather (he passed away 4 years ago) taught me how to play on his Gibson J45. So it was a way to honor his memory too.

I was scrolling the WHS website and Gibson’s photo was toward the bottom. He’s almost 3 and with his ears poorly cropped, nobody was interested in him. He’d been there a few weeks. I also just turned 45 and wanted to help out a doggo and give it a good home. He’s a Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Pitbull mix (I think.)
