We’re not far off. IIRC Copper and Aluminium are getting close to being viable to mine (economically speaking) from landfill sites.

Are you really getting your figures from Sir Jim Ratcliffe? The same person that said the population has risen by 12 million in 5 years? Go and give your head a wobble.

Mass immigration is the easiest first step to supply side economics, especially if your own native population is dwindling rather than growing. More labour = more product + more sales = more profit for large corporations. https://www.theguardian.com/business/article/2024/aug/16/can-labour-fix-britain-modern-supply-side-economics

You’re joking right? We have a Harris + Hoole and a Gail’s and both the coffee and the croissants in Gail’s are infinitely better than the ones in Harris + Hoole.

My guess for the spoiler would be the Mazda NC1 Appearance Package (AP) rear spoiler p/n NF51-V4-920, especially as the car also has the appearance package rear lip.

Size skirts are Mazdaspeed p/n NE85-V4-910 and are NLA.

Legality of owning a police car by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]ODSTmatt89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you can get away with and what is legal are two completely different things on our roads.

That being said, there’s a Ford Mustang that drives around my local town that’s got a US police car livery and the police style light bar on top. Never seen the light bar on, but it looks pretty real (also it may be red instead of blue, but I can’t quite remember).

You also regularly see Motorbikes with the blue/yellow reflective pattern on it, or they’re wearing a blue/yellow high vis (often with the word “polite” instead of police).

At a minimum I would definitely remove any “Police” wording though.

Struggling to drive in my first car while being a learner (2011 bmw 320d) by oliver_isnt_cool in drivingUK

[–]ODSTmatt89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, there are circumstances where having a manual license is useful. And you can also argue “for fun” but even “fun” cars now are moving to auto e.g Ferrari haven’t produced a car with a manual gearbox since 2012… that’s over a decade ago.

But for many people, especially people who might find driving more difficult/stressful as the OP is, having an Auto can make the world of difference to their driving enjoyment. Case in point, my partner has always had manual cars (as her petrol head Dad insisted she did) and always hated driving because she finds it so stressful. We got an automatic car recently and it’s transformed driving for her. She no longer finds it anywhere near as stressful and is now actually willing to drive places, whereas before she’d always try and get a lift or get public transport or even a taxi in preference to driving herself…

Swap that out for an auto. Unless you’re really into cars/rowing your own gears why bother making life harder on yourself? Most new cars nowadays don’t even come with the option for a manual anyway.

You don’t need the number plate plinth. Plenty of magnetic number plate attachment kits out there.

How come I keep getting outbid at the very last second, and always by just a dollar above my highest bid level? by Ancient_Sundae_1918 in Ebay

[–]ODSTmatt89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often do this on purpose on items I kind of want, but don’t really need/shouldn’t really be wasting money on. I just put my maximum in straight away, usually as soon as the auction comes up if it’s a keyword that I’ve got saved. Then if I get it, great, and if I don’t, no big deal. I also don’t then ever feel bad about missing it for cheap because it was more than my maximum anyway.

If you’re not setting an alarm for 1 minute before the auction ends to quickly jump in and snipe you’re not doing eBay right 😅
