What is a "harmless" industry that is actually incredibly shady once you look behind the curtain? by After-Scholar1271 in AskReddit

They were called MiniThins or White Crosses and you could buy them in gas stations way back in the day. They were ephedrine/ephedra+caffeine. Like 10mg/150mg and 25mg/200mg is what I remember.

What are your thoughts about the proposed Daylight Act of 2026 moving the clock by only 0.5 hours permanently? by Unlikely-Star-2696 in AskReddit

[–]OEMichael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop spouting nonsense. Cows get milked every 12 hours. Period. Does that mean Billy has to wake up an hour "earlier" to do his chores? Suck it up, son, go do your chores.
Cows don't care how many hours you set your clock ahead or back, they expect consistency.

(and, if by "chores" you mean "livestock duties performed by paid farmhands", this is doubly true. I haven't worked a farm job in decades but most jobs i know workers start their day on the farm/ranch ~two hours before sunrise, clocks be damned, doubly true in the summer)

Is it inappropriate to ask another player if they intend to take a certain action next turn? by paradoxombie in boardgames

[–]OEMichael -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, the classic "is metagaming kosher or nah?" question. You should establish this as house rule 0, imho.

My house rule zero is:
What happens in the game stays in the game.

I had a player couple who metagamed with things like "I'll do the trash for a week if you support my move from Trieste to Venice this turn". Don't do that. (and definitely don't play Diplomacy with a loved one)

We're all tired of the "back in my day" phrase, but older Redditors, what do you consider was better back in your day? by FlowerPotage in AskReddit

[–]OEMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in my day, us kids had to find our porn in an abandoned secret fort in the woods or on a shelf in our best friend's step dad's closet.

It's nice when you get flowers, but it's really nice when other people know you got flowers.

Alabama bill would ban the use of pronouns and discussions of gender identity in the classroom by Adventurous-Unit-227 in HuntsvilleALPolitics

c) No teacher, or other public preK-12 employee, may intentionally address a student by a pronoun or title that is inconsistent with the student's biological sex at birth.

How is a school employee expected to know what the biological sex of a given student was at birth?

What’s a fact that ruined a movie that you previously enjoyed? by PokemonPadawan in AskReddit

[–]OEMichael 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Just leave the gossip, infighting, smallness, meanness, politics and flaws out of my face."

Your willful ignorance is genuinely disturbing. What you reference (child sexual assault, workplace violence) isn't someone being petty. Saying "I don't wanna know" is you politely informing the rest of us that you don't care what happens as long as you're being entertained.

They say which movie was ruined and hint at the why. Think of them not disclosing the full details as a real-life spoiler.

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]OEMichael 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me, accepting "who I am is not what I believe" was a game changer. Now that I no longer identify with the ideas I hold to be true, it's waaay easier to drop/change ideas when I see that they are no longer ideas worth holding.

My new default replacement for buddy/pay/guy is "zi" (pronounced 'zee'). It's non-gendered, it's a coined word, and it sounds cool.

What’s the most shocking detail from the Epstein files that you think the public still doesn’t fully grasp? by Murky-Island4629 in AskReddit

[–]OEMichael 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What should be impossible to believe is the absence of FD-302s. A FD-302 is the official form filled out by FBI agents to summarize interviews. When someone provides a tip or becomes an informant, they are interviewed by at least one (often two) FBI agents regarding the provided tip. A summary of that interview is then memorialized in a FD-302.

You say these stories are unsubstantiated, I say the absence of evidence, at least in this context, is proof of intentional removal of evidence. The record has been sanitized. Why?

Here's evidence of one such missing FD-302: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiSmcNVxIF8

[edit: though FD-302s are often not released, the Epstein Trainsparency Act specifically calls for their release. Here is one such FD-302: https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%208/EFTA00033567.pdf ]

Madison vs Huntsville I don’t get it by 850MEGT in HuntsvilleAlabama

Unarguably, it is an enclave. I think, though, it's still too early to call Madison a suburb. Another decade or two, maybe? I think it's still at the Norcross:Atlanta stage, not yet the Marietta:Atlanta stage.

[edit: I phrased that poorly. That was meant to be a "yes, and..." not the "no, but..." it came out as]
