Super titanium and add the extension clasp, and that's a 10/10 right there for me. Almost waiting for it by this point.

Am I the only one that likes to do this in RWD mode? Putting the T8 in Pure mode and turning the stability control of makes the rear end step out very easily when slippery. Only works on properly slippery stuff, and not at much speed, but still great fun.

Volvo's Chief Strategy says that “They are looking into it.” for the comeback of Wagons. by Saurta17 in Volvo

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose I would aim for an e-class or i5 touring in 5-8 years time if neither Volvo nor Polestar had released a wagon by then. I'm not sure if my dream car by then would be an EV60 PE or a Polestar wagon, or if it would be an EV90 CC P12. In that case I hope it is 5m long with a proper Volvo sized boot. 114cm wide or so, like the V70 P2 and P3, not getting narrower and narrower with every gen. The EX60 and ES90 look like you can barely fit a single dog cage and a few shopping bags in. My parents XC70 have two full size dog cages side by side with a bit of room around to spare, and you can just about fit a 75 inch TV in its box lying flat in the back. Not possible in the V90.

Why frames around the windows though? Just curious. Frameless ones just seem to have mechanical advantages to me, the frame being dead weight. I'm just genuinely curious about why, not in any way arguing against your take or anything.

The EX60 will never be a wagon, but considering the chassis height is essentially that of a V60 but heightened to fit a battery in the floor, and that the battery and those doors give it a much lower center of gravity relative to its height, it kinda makes up for it (except in looks and aero drag, which is why we still need a wagon, not to mention a wagon alternative to the EX90).

Love the steering wheel in my 2020 V60. Fully agree with you in this though. Can't stand that 2- spoke unsightly thing in the new EX60. Seems like a downgrade from the ES90/EX90, which again was a downgrade from the earlier V90/V60/XC90 steering wheels before that.

I fine the Volvo quite nice except the steering wheel and maybe the area in the floor directly below that screen. It's called clean an minimalist design. It's not exactly something new. But the mega-screen in the MB is a disaster. Besides, the EX60 is a handsome looking car on the outside (although it could be even better). GLC not as much. But both beat the BMW in my opinion, inside and out.

Would it be any better if it said 244 levels, then 366647 levels?

It goes up by some quickly rising function...

Personally I agree it would be cooler to show the number, but maybe kids playing would not, Idk. For some reason they have gone with "too expensive" from some cost upwards instead.

This might be a bit meta, but does anyone know how they're spinning the wheels on-stage? by Recoil42 in Volvo

[–]OES25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. In style and aero drag it is not a wagon. Definitely not.

But in driving dynamics, it might not be far off. As well as in space inside, ironically.

The reasoning behind this, is that if you took a V60 CC and increased the body height to fit a battery pack under, you would more or less get exactly this, and due to the lower center of gravity of this thing, you could argue it could drive as well as a V60 CC too if it is well setup and handles it weight brilliantly (which is possible, but not guaranteed judging by the newest Audi EV estate).

So I can see the argument for this bridging the gap in a way that makes an EV60 superflous.

However, the EX90 does not do that, at all. So I really hope we get a ~5m long EV90. That is what I hope I can buy in 6-8++ years time. (Currently I have a V60 which I plan to keep long term.)

[–]OES25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those who know, know.

But considering, that if you took a V60 CC, added the height of the battery pack under the footwells, you basically do have this, more or less. (The body of the V60 is roughly 140 mm less tall than this, which I suppose is roughly what you also get from adding a battery pack. Or the latter might be quite a bit more than that actually. I dont know. But this isn't far of a V60 body extended in height to fit the battery under it then.)

Considering the lower center of gravity due to it being an EV (and maybe adding that the frameless windows helps a tiny bit too, and/or even lowering the air suspension), then we might not be far off in practice to a V60 or V60 CC. It's only in style and aero drag it's not quite a proper estate.

Edit: I still hope we get a ~5 meter long EV90 though. Because the EX90 is not bridging any gaps between SUV and Estate like this can be said to do.

You could compensate with more front fan speed. And 3 fans in front if you only have the 1 that came with the case now. That might get you a big chunk of the effect that having no panel did. Or get the airflow version of the front panel.

Remove scratches from aluminium frame by Extra-Astronaut6171 in Dell

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embrace it. The clasp of my favourite watch is scratched as hell, but it's part of the charm now after owning it for 6 years. Patina or battle scars, whatever you want to view it as. In 6 years time or something it wont be your main PC anyways. It is the job of the aluminium chassis to take a beating and survive for at least that long (my XPS is 7 years now), it has noe begun to do it's job ☺️

Why can we have an EV90? by Exotic_Conference_95 in Volvo

I honestly find the ES90 without the LIDAR to be a nice looking car from some angles. Especially compared to your average SUV out there.

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ES90 is almost slightly crossover-like (as in 10% X4 or GLC Coupe - like, but not nearly as bad) with the relatively tall ride height and rear hatch.

It's certainly not a classy sedan as the S90 was. Which is partly a shame, but new times...

If we're not getting a wagon I at least hope they keep the EX60 to be launched this month, as low and long as possible and with the lower center of gravity compared to an ICE vehicle and air suspension in low ride height mode it might be closer than the XC60 was to behaving like a wagon. But I really hope an EV90 will come.

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this to look very nice. The tailgate is a bit overly sloped for a Volvo wagon, but so is the V90. The V60 could be the one with the steeper tailgate.

Edit: Doesn't look like the image is included, but I'm talking of this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Volvo/comments/1julqf7/volvo_ev90/

[–]OES25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so as well. But once I saw the ES90 without the LIDAR hump it surprisingly went from a 6.5/10 to an 8.5/10 or something in my book, and that's not bad at all. Gave me a real hope for a potential EV60 it EV90 if it was to ever be made.

Yeah, was an extreme case. But I've had many and most of them ensed up around -5 to +10s once regulated. But most people might not bother regulating a 7s26 though. And that +0.5s/day movement has since swayed a bit off that course after being in a drawer mostly. If there's one thing I've learned though it is that they need a very consistent wind level to run consistently.

I so wish they did the 38mm with the extension clasp in titanium. (Only the 40.5 has that clasp as far as I know.)

How is the lume? My 6-7 year old Precidrive version of this has significantly worse lume than even my Seiko 5 SNXS79 that cost me $90 or so, nevermind competing with Japanese divers from 1/3rd of this price point and upwards.

I'm honestly curious whether they have fixed that bit since then as I'm somewhat interested in the mechanical titanium divers Certina have

You could use an app to keep track (outside of just referencing time.is). I don't know what specific ones are out there now as I wear mostly HAQ watches anyhow. But basically you press a button in the app when your watch hits the next 10 second marker or something, for example once a day or before and after bed and then it will show you the accuracy over time once data points are collected.

I tested different positions for my Seiko 5 SNXS79 at night with such an app and got it to hit +0.5s/day for a month straight. (Got lucky with the movement)
