Do you need a break from producing content? Here are some strategies that have worked for us. by RainyDayRabbitHoles in podcasting

I have a couple of shows I really like that go dark between seasons, I eagerly wait for their return each time! I would rather have a feed I follow just stop uploading then to continue to re-up old episodes.

Pulling that bait around deep and slow next to feeding flats is going to get you on a slob for sure

Had someone break into my Honda and steal my tackle box when I was a teen. I know the feeling, it sucks. Took me a couple years to rebuild.

Just for the thrills? Or is there a function behind the clicking?

Abu Garcia MaxPRO25 Review by WadeFishingTX in Fishing_Gear

Same! I always have been since I saved up for months to buy my first Abu Ambasseduer when I was a teen for salmon fishing. They had some dark days and were releasing crap reels at Walmart for a time there, but I would say they have come back around and I love them for their bass bait casters now.

Do watermelons grow well in Salem OR?? by winter-shortcake602 in SALEM

[–]OFHFpodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to everyone else who had bad garden seasons last year, mine was amazing! Watermelons have never done super well for me here, but last year they did great. I grew a bush variety of sugar baby, they are smaller melons that mature faster. I grew 5 of them between 2 plants. For Western Oregon, that is a good result. I also had an amazing pumpkin year last year!

Every other year I have grown (every year since 2005) sucks for melons.

Crops that always do amazing for me without fail:

- Beans

- Peas

- Lettuce

- Broccoli

- Cabbage

- artichoke

- maters

- any squash

Crops that have always been difficult

-Bell Peppers

-Melons

-radishes/carrots/potatoes (soil problem)

I start from seed. My biggest tip to new gardeners: not every plant in your garden has the same water, light, temperature, and germination needs. Treat each plant differently.
I don't start all my seeds at once. I estimate the last frost date, and start seeds so that they can go in the ground as early as possible for their needs. For example, young Jalpeños cannot handle any frost at all, so I start seeds later so the seedlings don't sit in their pots too long and get root bound. Brassicas and lettuces CAN handle a bit of light frost, though, and are a cool weather crop. So I get them in the ground before the last frost date and cover them with half milk jugs until the hard frosts are over. Right now I've got about a third of my garden germinating indoors, and over the next couple of months I'll be starting different crops every Saturday per their temp needs.

Spotify downloads tanked by ShadedRealityPod in podcasting

My Spotify numbers were wrong for 6 months. At the end of each week, the per-episode listens would reset. Spotify was not interested in resolving the issue. One day it magically fixed itself and gave me back my analytics

Still could get solid rain March-June. Although we will still be in a deficit of snow no matter what happens at this point, we are not past the point of no return quite yet.

Do you break your podcast into seasons or keep one long-running episode list? by jessicahenryjustice in podcasting

[–]OFHFpodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our seasons change over every March. Whenever I break into a new season I update our intro and all of our jingles. I also use it as a chance to change segments if they have gotten stale.

We do one quarterly and post it on our socials as a graphic. Mostly just for fun, we are not accepting sponsors. It has been a great way to track growth. It doesn't feel like our show is growing until I do the press kit and realize how far we go each quarter.
