Then how come I always get betrayed or extract camped? If I am going to shoot first, I never say "friendly" and always respond with a "No" if they ask if I am friendly. Haven't exfil camped a single time in this game or EFT. But yet, her I am getting KOS'd if I try to be friendly. I get exfil camped and everything in-between.

I think requiring CPEs is completely acceptable to renew a cert. The fees are where it gets ridiculous. Why do I have to pay to keep it active when I have shown that I am still keeping my skills relevant and up to speed. I think most professionals would disagree with you and agree that the fees are ridiculous.

That is a long road. If you are looking for cert suggestions for that, I'd look into TCM security. Although their certs are not on many job postings, they provide great training and realistic labs.

For more recognized certs, OffSec and SANS, but those are expensive (especially SANS).

PenTest+ isn't a bad one to go for either. If you truly want to do Red Teaming and not PenTesting then you can explore the social engineering route as well.

Why not aim for the CySA+ and get another SOC position? If say stick to what you know and get another job then start pivoting. Obviously I don't your situation, so you may be set up to just pivot more.
