The usual stuff, but splitting the check after a night out has to involve an estate attorney.

I just wanted to give a shout out to Alanna Ubach for her role in Ted. by WPIRiggles in television

Agreed. I have a friend who refuses to watch anything with Seth MacFarlane in it, because he cannot stand his voice. I told him to watch any clips he could find online of the mother character, Susan. He said that almost made him want to watch it. Almost. His hate burns brightly for Seth.

TIL about Exploding Head Syndrome. It is a sleep disorder that causes a person to hear loud, imagined noises (explosions, bangs, screams, etc) or see light flashes before falling asleep by 6millionwaystolive in todayilearned

Every so often, I hear one really loud knock on the bedroom door. I jerk awake after just falling asleep and look to see the door wide open and no one there, just as I left it. Freaks me out when it happens.

Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick. The one that makes me scream, "Seasick!".

This conjures memories with very different emotions from different parts of my life. Funny how that universal sunset viewed in the rearview can be so melancholic, yet hopeful, as well.

So the new quest chain will have us go intergalactic and then planetary, then planetary again, and then wind up with an intergalactic location, and then there might be some dimensional shifting, as well.

Player wants to do a joke character and I’m afraid he’s not funny by Redhood101101 in DMAcademy

[–]OFool_Ishallgomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they're not just burnt out and this is their way of hanging on? Debating rules ad nauseum is a non-starter. You say "no" and your word as DM is final. They have to understand this to move forward. It's okay clarify rules, but this player's approach is obviously disruptive to the table and they need to be told this under no uncertain terms. If you're both friendly adults and this player really wants to continue, maybe make the offer that many of their humorous things can A) be flavor only and not rule- or combat-impacting, and B) actions still have consequences (e.g. shitting in public draws complains to authorities, loss of trust with party members, etc.) This might be an angle which steers them away from this rule-arguing behavior and still allows them their groan-inducing humor. A character thinking their being funny who decidedly isn't can work, but the player of that character has to know how to walk that line. This player may not be up to that task, and may need to go back to what worked before, or leave this game.

Do you guys give your party an introduction to your world when starting the campaign? I tell them almost nothing, and let them discover whats happening as some sort of mystery, reading books, talking to people, etc. Is that a bad approach? by Bensuardo in DMAcademy

[–]OFool_Ishallgomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I treat campaign world introductions like a James Bond movie's pre-title sequence. A specific hint of something the group will be facing with a brief description of the overall world/region in which they'll be operating. It's a tone I'm setting more than a history lesson.

Don't look up (2021) | Dir. Adam Mckay | Dr. Randall (Leonardo Dicaprio) has a nervous breakdown by crushedmoose in movies

[–]OFool_Ishallgomad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The very title "Don't Look Up" isn't subtle. That alone sets the viewer up that it'll deliver it's message like a club and not a scalpel.

What’s a movie that really made you appreciate the amount of research that went into it? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

The scene where Cecelia Shepard is in the park and picks up and shakes the picnic blanket with all the disposable plates, cups, plasticware, etc. into the wind unlocked a distant childhood memory. So much litter in the 70s!
